As you can see, the apartment has a plush, modern Mediterranean style. When you’re ready to venture out, you’ll find 28,000 square meters of tropical gardens and two expansive saltwater pools in the complex. 'Coral Reef' Holiday Rental Apartment is stocked with many amenities that other apartments lack. About Sophie Idh

My name is Sophie and I was born and raised outside of Stockholm, Sweden. I love riding horses, traveling, and exploring. My Norwegian husband and I currently reside in Washington, US, and fly back home to Europe at least a couple of times per year.

Why Sophie Idh chose La Cala de Mijas

When we were looking for a home to purchase in Costa del Sol, we searched all the cities, up and down the coast. When we found La Cala de Mijas it was no longer a question of what town to buy in, but what apartment complex to call our home. We quickly found Oasis Cala de Mijas, which is a high quality, low quantity complex, built with care and consideration. Only 30% of the property is built upon, leaving 28,000 square meters of well kept sub-tropical gardens, including 2 saltwater pools.

Our two apartments are located on the 2nd and 3rd floor, both accessible via an elevator. The entire complex is handicap accessible, and ideal for families traveling with children. You do not need a car while staying here, as you can walk from the apartment to just about everything, including the beach, bars, golf, restaurants, retails stores and more.

What makes this apartment unique

We love the architecture in our complex, with traditional Spanish style, combined with a modern look. Italian marble is all around, and the layout flows seamlessly from one room to another. We have included all the features that you would expect to find in your neighbor's home, so it is not just another holiday rental. Some of these features include:

Everything was better than we could have expected. We had a great week of holiday!

The apartment was excellent. (rooms, kitchen, Jacuzzi etc.) There is absolutely nothing to complain about.



Most of the time we spend at the pool enjoying the sun. We visited shopping centers and in Fuengirola and Malaga. (and of course old town in Malaga)

Every evening we visited to local restaurants. Some of us even sang karaoke at The Henry’s bar.



Hopefully we can get back to spend the holidays in your apartment.

Wonderful stay in Spain

We had a wonderful vacation in La Cala de Mijas! The apartment was perfect. It was close to the grocery store, some great lunch places and the beach. It is a little hike to the beach, but it was easy to get to everything that it wasn't a problem. Sally greeted us and made us feel right at home. She left her info incase we needed anything during the week. We were given lists of places to go and see! The property was very clean and well maintained. I have already passed on the link to this property to several of my friends! While we stayed there we drove to Ronda, Granada, and Gibraltar. And the rest of the time we went to different parts of the beach.

Last time we were in La Cala de Mijas we did the same route as you did, except we went to Morocco instead of Gibraltar. Ronda and Granada are both very exceptional cities that everyone should visit. One great ting about this region is that there is so much to do in the season when you are not laying on the beach. Between all the historical town and the outdoor activities available there is always something to do.

6 of us stayed here and we all loved every minute of our holiday. Property was lovely, clean, tidy. We loved the hot tub! The area is lovely too, close to the shops and beach. Sally and Chris were so helpful and answered any questions we had, they made us feel so welcome.

fabulous extended stay...all the amenities of home

We rented the apartment for 3 months for a language immersion program for our children. The apartment was well equipped and beautifully decorated. We loved the hot tub and high speed internet. We were walking distance to grocery stores, restaurants, the beach, golf and mountains. Fabulous stay and Einar was extremely accommodating! Thank you!

Absolutely fantastic!

We have just returned from a fantastic two week stay at this lovely apartment. We travelled as two families of three (4 adults and two children aged 16 and 12). The apartment was exactly as listed and provided us with everything we could wish for. There were many small points that weren't mentioned that we found useful - the brilliant roller shutters on all windows, provision of mosquito plugs (not that we ever saw any), every kitchen utensil you could ever need, spanish phrase book,etc, etc.
The accommodation was very well presented, and all was explained to us thoroughly by Sally who greeted us on arrival.
The entire complex is very well maintained and all communal areas are very clean. The two pools were both lovely, with sun loungers provided. There are also bathroom facilities at both pools.
Prior to booking any correspondence we had with Sophie & Einar the owners was efficient and professional and very well organised.
I would recommend this apartment to anyone - if you want a holiday close to bars, restaurants, etc this would be suitable as the center of La Cala De Mijas is only about 10 minutes stroll away, but if you want a relaxing do-nothing sort of break, then this is also the place for you! This is a secure property, with a comprehensive door locking system and the complex has a security patrol for added peace of mind.
We used the hot tub most evenings - strangely it seemed to cool us down after days in the scorching spanish sunshine!
There are lots of local facilities from a Lidl supermarket to a British run snack bar (Snack Attack) to a tour/excursion operator (we booked day trip to Seville) - all within 5 minute walk.
We enjoyed various restaurants in the centre of La Cala that catered to all our requirements - we enjoyed Spanish, Italian, British, and Indian food.
We did not hire a car (just didn't fancy driving abroad!), but didn't really need one either. We made good use of the bus service and had a few visits to Fuengirola, to Benalmadina and to Estepona. The taxi services we also good, with very reasonable rates.
Back in the apartment the home entertainment system was very good - full range of TV channels to keep everyone happy - although we did get a bit confused over which remote control to use!!
We would love to return - so we don't want to encourage you too much to try out this apartment for yourselves in case you are lucky enough to book it when we want to go!! Thanks again Sophie & Einar - it was fabulous!

Your teenagers will be happy to know that we are getting the brand new PlayStation 4 in February. The PlayStation 3 will have to do until then.

You sure go around, even without a car! The tour operators down the street are great, and so is the public transportation. The only advantage to having your own car is that you can stay for as long as you want in all the inland towns. If you just want to tour up and down the coast then the busses and trains are perfect.

Best apartment by far in La Cala de Mijas

A superb Luxury apartment with every conceivable item for a comfortable stay.
Well equiped kitchen with top of the range white goods and plenty of crockery and glasses etc for a family of 8.

Modern dining area and sitting room, again with lovely comfortable safa and chairs.
Top of the range TV with HD, Humax satelite system and playstation 3, enough to keep the kids and a few adults happy. Channels all in English.

All bedrooms were an excellent size and modern with excellent mattresses. Kids will love the huge bunkbeds.
Main bedroom also has a en suite with a power shower and HOT running water which is a novelty in Spain.
Then there is the extension room which is excellent for guests who want a breeze running through the room, although the air conditioning is excellent throughout the whole apartment. This room also has the Glass curtains which open fully to let in the air and light and a fantastic view of the sea.

What better than a long day on the beach and coming back to the Hot Tub and have a large gin and tonic. Absolute HEAVEN !!

The free parking space was also a boon and had the addition of secure parking and a security guard patrolling the premises 24 hours. The owners were easily on hand by phone and email and kept us updated throughout the whole booking process.

I would highly reccommend this apartment to anyone looking for a home from home that has everything required for a fantastic stay and is within walking distance of the lovely town and beach area. La Canasta cafe is excellent for beers and a snack, Grill de la Cala was great for dinner in the evening, very friendly staff and very good value for money. The small town has plenty of bars, restaurants, banks and supermarkets for anyone who does not want to leave the area or do not have their own transport.

There are so many facilities in the local area that you will never run out of things to do, with or without a car. La Cala de Mijas still has that small town charm and feel, yet the sophistication and amenities of a modern city. Every Wednesday and Saturday you can walk to the local market, where you can purchase anything from fresh produce, to clothing, jewelry, and everything in between. There are Irish Bars, English Bars and Spanish Bars, all within a few blocks of each other. You will find restaurants and retail stores up and down the narrow, cobble stone streets. A 10 minute walk will take you to an amazing beach, with miles of the Costa del Sol’s finest sand. A pirate ship playground is located along the beach walk promenade, and it is a big hit with the kids, when they need a break from the ocean. Two modern grocery stores are within easy walking distance of home. Take either public transportation or a car for a 10 minute drive to the enormous local shopping mall, Parque Miramar

Notes:
The holiday rental apartment is located on the 1st floor, above the garden apartment, or what is referred to as the 2nd floor in Northern Europe and the US. The 73 square meter balcony/terrace has a large section enclosed with a glass wall, that can easily be slid to one side, to open the entire area up to the sun. For the winter evenings, the glass can be put in place, and the terrace be fully enjoyed, with Infra Red heaters, if necessary. The private jacuzzi is located on the terrace, out of view from the rest of the units, for a more private experience. This apartment is located in a gated community, surrounded by 28,000 square meters of subtropical gardens, with swimming pool areas and lighted walkways for your enchanting evening strolls. While the beach, shops, restaurants and bars are just a short 5 to 10 minute walk away, you will still enjoy a tranquil and quiet apartment, with absolutely no street noise.
