About Sophie Idh

My name is Sophie and I was born and raised outside of Stockholm, Sweden. I love riding horses, traveling, and exploring. My Norwegian husband and I currently reside in Washington, US, and fly back home to Europe at least a couple of times per year.

Why Sophie Idh chose La Cala de Mijas

When we were looking for a home to purchase in Costa del Sol, we searched all the cities, up and down the coast. When we found La Cala de Mijas it was no longer a question of what town to buy in, but what apartment complex to call our home. We quickly found Oasis Cala de Mijas, which is a high quality, low quantity complex, built with care and consideration. Only 30% of the property is built upon, leaving 28,000 square meters of well kept sub-tropical gardens, including 2 saltwater pools.

Our two apartments are located on the 2nd and 3rd floor, both accessible via an elevator. The entire complex is handicap accessible, and ideal for families traveling with children. You do not need a car while staying here, as you can walk from the apartment to just about everything, including the beach, bars, golf, restaurants, retails stores and more.

What makes this apartment unique

We love the architecture in our complex, with traditional Spanish style, combined with a modern look. Italian marble is all around, and the layout flows seamlessly from one room to another. We have included all the features that you would expect to find in your neighbor's home, so it is not just another holiday rental. Some of these features include:

Great apartment, good location

Hi Sophie and Einar,

Thank you very much - it was a pleasure to stay at your holiday apartment. We really enjoy :) The apartment is good-sized also for bigger group. It was just two of us, so it was very spacious for us! Jacuzzi is amazing - we have to buy jacuzzi for home too!!
The apartment is nicely decorated. There is everything you need!
Location is great, you can easily walk to the beach and restaurants. And bikes were a nice extra!

It was a home away from home!

And Sally - she was just great :)

Beautiful apartment

My partner and I stayed there for his birthday treat. I had been to Spain 3 weeks previous and stayed in a hotel , but I wanted to try a different experience. I came across this apartment on the home away website and loved it immediately! I communicated with the owner via telephone and email. Everything went to plan and the owner accommodated us as best they could regarding check ins and outs. We arrived to the stunning apartment and was greeted by Sally (the manager) with a bottle of wine and chocolates. Sally was so warm, friendly and welcoming. She explained all the things we needed to know and showed us where everything was and how to operate the sky and play station etc... Sally couldn't do enough for us. I felt reassured that we would have a wonderful experience. She introduced us to people who worked in the bars, stores and restaurants. And made sure we were treated like royalty. She really is a fantastic host.
The apartment was modern, clean and decorated to a high standard. The jacuzzi was wonderful and easy to use. The bathrooms were my favourite place, so pretty and lovely tiles. The swimming pools were lovely and secluded which is exactly what I wanted. The grounds are very tidy and clean and the gardening is very well maintained. We were close to supermarkets, bars, restaurants, little mini stores and a great club called vibes where the bartenders are cool, friendly and the music is good. We will be returning in a month and hoping to book the same apartment. Great holiday!

Great Holiday!!

My wife and I stayed at the Sandy Beach Apartment 18th-25th September 2013 after seeing the apartment in a Trip Adviser email for late deals.
What can we say? This is the first time we have booked anything other than a package holiday for about 20years. We both realise now what we have been missing!! From start to finish everything went so smoothly, initial contact with Sophie was brilliant as she covered any questions we had and you could tell from her emails that she wanted you to have a great time.
Sally met bus at the apartment with the keys and explained everything to us and gave us a full run down on La Calla de Mijas, she was great, nothing was too much trouble. Thank you Sally!
The apartment is fantastic, the photo’s don’t do it justice! So much space and well laid out. All mod cons available and it is just like home from home you feel so comfortable and relaxed as soon as you arrive. Good security is evident with security guards and locked gates and entrances to the building.
We used the pool just about every day and there were days when we were the only ones there and it felt like it was your own private pool!!
Lots of shops and restaurants all within walking distance and the town still retains it’s typical “Spanish feeling” with friendly locals and you can understand why there are a high percentage of expats living in the area.
My wife and I can honestly say that this is one of the most relaxing holidays we have had for a long time, we have stayed in some high standard 5* hotels and the apartment meets these standards, in fact how many hotels have you stayed in where you can lounge in the hot tub on the balcony with a glass of wine at the end of a glorious day!!!

Absolutely Stunning Home from Home Apartment

Having previously booked the owner's other apartment the Coral Beach we knew we would be happy with the Sandy beach. We were met by the new manager Sally who was prompt at meeting us at the apartment when we phoned her from the airport. Although we had been before Sally let us know about all the facilities and was excellent at giving us ideas of where to go in the area. If your looking for local info Sally is your girl. The apartment was really nice, modern and most importantly clean and a complete home from home. The apartment is well lit and bright giving a sense of open space. The Dining room was beautifully furnished as was the living room with the corner sofa and 2 seater sofa,enough for a big family to enjoy. The bedrooms were tastefully designed with the most comfy beds I have ever encountered, even in some 5 star hotels. The apartment has all the mod cons and top of the range white goods including a huge fridge freezer to hold as much beer and wine or salad if that's your thing. The kitchen again has everything you could possibly need including a teabag sqeezer, now that's service for you. The sun room was excellent and our favorite area to hang out after a invigorating walk on the local beach just 10 minutes walk away. Sit, relax and take in the sun going down in the distance with your gin & Tonic or glass of the local wine. Better still enjoy the view from your own private hot tub. We didn't have a chance to check out the pool area on our last visit as it was hidden in the tropical gardens. We wandered up the spiral pathway and were met by a sparkling clean beautiful large pool with little shaded break out umbrella areas. There were also plenty of sunbeds for everyone to use. The area also has clean toilets in the grounds. The pool is ideal for families with children who perhaps do not want to walk to the local beach. There is an array of excellent shops and restaurants 10 minutes walk away. The Best apartment by far in La Cala de Mijas. Thanks John

A perfect place for a girls getaway

We just loved this place! We were three girls who spent one week here in the beginning of June, and we wish had booked one more week. We will definitely come back! The apartment has everything you could possibly wish for. A BBQ on the balcony, a blender for drinks and even make-up Mirrors in the bathroom (in addition to all regular kitchen-, living room- and bathroom stuff). Our favorite place to relax after a day at the beach was the balcony. It was so lovely, with a large dining table, Jacuzzi and a “sofa hang out”. We went to the beach every day, and it was perfect! We had nice weather, and there were really nice sunbeds with thick mattresses and umbrellas for rent. The beds in the apartment are also worth mentioning, they were just so comfortable we slept like babies. The town itself is really cozy, with restaurants and bars. We also took a taxi to Fuengirola and Malaga to explore the area a bit more. We will absolutely recommend this place to others. Everything was just so easy from booking, getting there, information folders and Sally who was very helpful throughout our stay. Thank you so, we will be back!

There are so many facilities in the local area that you will never run out of things to do, with or without a car. La Cala de Mijas still has that small town charm and feel, yet the sophistication and amenities of a modern city. Every Wednesday and Saturday you can walk to the local market, where you can purchase anything from fresh produce, to clothing, jewelry, and everything in between. There are Irish Bars, English Bars and Spanish Bars, all within a few blocks of each other. You will find restaurants and retail stores up and down the narrow, cobble stone streets. A 10 minute walk will take you to an amazing beach, with miles of the Costa del Sol’s finest sand. A pirate ship playground is located along the beach walk promenade, and it is a big hit with the kids, when they need a break from the ocean. The holiday rental apartment is located on the 2st floor, above the garden apartment, and 1st floor, or what is referred to as the 3nd floor in Northern Europe and the US. The 73 square meter balcony/terrace has a large section enclosed with a glass wall, that can easily be slid to one side, to open the entire area up to the sun. For the winter evenings, the glass can be put in place, and the terrace be fully enjoyed, with Infra Red heaters, if necessary. The private jacuzzi is located on the terrace, out of view from the rest of the units, for a more private experience. This holiday rental apartment is located in a gated community, surrounded by 28,000 square meters of subtropical gardens, with swimming pool areas and lighted walkways for your enchanting evening strolls. While the beach, shops, restaurants and bars are just a short 5 to 10 minute walk away, you will still enjoy a tranquil and quiet apartment, with absolutely no street noise.
