'Coral Reef' Holiday Rental Apartment is stocked with many amenities that other apartments lack. About Sophie Idh

My name is Sophie and I was born and raised outside of Stockholm, Sweden. I love riding horses, traveling, and exploring. My Norwegian husband and I currently reside in Washington, US, and fly back home to Europe at least a couple of times per year.

Why Sophie Idh chose La Cala de Mijas

When we were looking for a home to purchase in Costa del Sol, we searched all the cities, up and down the coast. When we found La Cala de Mijas it was no longer a question of what town to buy in, but what apartment complex to call our home. We quickly found Oasis Cala de Mijas, which is a high quality, low quantity complex, built with care and consideration. Only 30% of the property is built upon, leaving 28,000 square meters of well kept sub-tropical gardens, including 2 saltwater pools.

Our two apartments are located on the 2nd and 3rd floor, both accessible via an elevator. The entire complex is handicap accessible, and ideal for families traveling with children. You do not need a car while staying here, as you can walk from the apartment to just about everything, including the beach, bars, golf, restaurants, retails stores and more.

What makes this apartment unique

We love the architecture in our complex, with traditional Spanish style, combined with a modern look. Italian marble is all around, and the layout flows seamlessly from one room to another. We have included all the features that you would expect to find in your neighbor's home, so it is not just another holiday rental. Some of these features include:

First class, home from home

We first visited Sandy Beach Apartments for a weekend break last year. It was so good that this year we decided to stay for a week this time round. One of the reasons we returned was because this apartment is everything you could want. One of the reasons we returned was because this apartment is everything you could want. The location is 10 / 15 mins walk from the beach a bit more if you are less able. Lidl' at the bottom of the road is a godsend. There are a few bars at the bottom of the road that do save you going into town. Right back to the apartment, the underground secure car park has a lift that goes up to the second floor so no carrying cases up stairs. From the minute you walk through the door it feels like home from home. From the well equipped kitchen to the extra large balcony, everything is perfect. The welcome that we received from Sally was first class and she couldn't do enough to ensured we enjoyed our stay. The bubbling hot tub ensures that you relax fully. The pool is cleaned daily and is a welcome relief from the Spanish sun. The pool side is spotless. We don't normally return to the same location as we prefer to visit new places BUT the Sandy Apartments are so good that we will return year after year. Thank you so much Sophie, Einar and Sally.

We stayed at the Sandy Beach Apartment for 4 weeks and were not disappointed. It met our expectations by delivering on all of its promises: cleanliness, amenities, location, safety, etc. The unit was spotless on our arrival; every listed item was in place and in excellent working condition. The owners were very professional to deal with, with excellent communications, and Sally, the Property Manager, cheerfully facilitated our arrival and departure. The modern and well stocked grocery store within easy walking distance was a big plus for us; so was the twice weekly local market. The bicycles were a nice and welcome touch to help alleviate our tired feet. A busy highway needs to be crossed via a pedestrian overpass to reach the centre of town and the beach, but this did not present a problem for us. All in all, this vacation property represents excellent value. We give it top marks and would not hesitate to recommend it to friends and family.

Great apartment, good location

Hi Sophie and Einar,

Thank you very much - it was a pleasure to stay at your holiday apartment. We really enjoy :) The apartment is good-sized also for bigger group. It was just two of us, so it was very spacious for us! Jacuzzi is amazing - we have to buy jacuzzi for home too!!

The apartment is nicely decorated. There is everything you need!

Location is great, you can easily walk to the beach and restaurants. And bikes were a nice extra!

It was a home away from home!

And Sally - she was just great :)

Beautiful apartment

My partner and I stayed there for his birthday treat. I had been to Spain 3 weeks previous and stayed in a hotel , but I wanted to try a different experience. I came across this apartment on the home away website and loved it immediately! I communicated with the owner via telephone and email. Everything went to plan and the owner accommodated us as best they could regarding check ins and outs. We arrived to the stunning apartment and was greeted by Sally (the manager) with a bottle of wine and chocolates. Sally was so warm, friendly and welcoming. She explained all the things we needed to know and showed us where everything was and how to operate the sky and play station etc... Sally couldn't do enough for us. I felt reassured that we would have a wonderful experience. She introduced us to people who worked in the bars, stores and restaurants. And made sure we were treated like royalty. She really is a fantastic host.

The apartment was modern, clean and decorated to a high standard. The jacuzzi was wonderful and easy to use. The bathrooms were my favourite place, so pretty and lovely tiles. The swimming pools were lovely and secluded which is exactly what I wanted. The grounds are very tidy and clean and the gardening is very well maintained. We were close to supermarkets, bars, restaurants, little mini stores and a great club called vibes where the bartenders are cool, friendly and the music is good. We will be returning in a month and hoping to book the same apartment. Great holiday!

There are so many facilities in the local area that you will never run out of things to do, with or without a car. La Cala de Mijas still has that small town charm and feel, yet the sophistication and amenities of a modern city. Every Wednesday and Saturday you can walk to the local market, where you can purchase anything from fresh produce, to clothing, jewelry, and everything in between. There are Irish Bars, English Bars and Spanish Bars, all within a few blocks of each other. You will find restaurants and retail stores up and down the narrow, cobble stone streets. A 10 minute walk will take you to an amazing beach, with miles of the Costa del Sol’s finest sand. A pirate ship playground is located along the beach walk promenade, and it is a big hit with the kids, when they need a break from the ocean. Two modern grocery stores are within easy walking distance of home. Take either public transportation or a car for a 10 minute drive to the enormous local shopping mall, Parque Miramar

Golf: The apartment is situated in the Golf Valley, with 9 excellent courses, including The famous La Cala Golf, Mijas Golf, Mira Flores Golf, La Siesta Golf, La Noria Golf, Santana Golf, Calanova Golf, and El Chapatral Club de Golf.

The holiday rental apartment is located on the 2st floor, above the garden apartment, and 1st floor, or what is referred to as the 3nd floor in Northern Europe and the US. The 73 square meter balcony/terrace has a large section enclosed with a glass wall, that can easily be slid to one side, to open the entire area up to the sun. For the winter evenings, the glass can be put in place, and the terrace be fully enjoyed, with Infra Red heaters, if necessary. The private jacuzzi is located on the terrace, out of view from the rest of the units, for a more private experience. This holiday rental apartment is located in a gated community, surrounded by 28,000 square meters of subtropical gardens, with swimming pool areas and lighted walkways for your enchanting evening strolls. While the beach, shops, restaurants and bars are just a short 5 to 10 minute walk away, you will still enjoy a tranquil and quiet apartment, with absolutely no street noise.
