Camerino is a beautiful little medieval town famed for its university but off the beaten track. High on it's hill it commands views over rolling hills to the Sibilini and Appenine mountains. We are sited about 2 km out of town in the countryside but within easy reach of all amenities. Our property has stunning views over the valley of a small river to the fortified town.
The town has two museums containing some lovely art treasures, several churches including the distinctive twin tower duomo visible from the property and a full compliment of ice cream parlours and cafes, also it holds a great medieval festival each year for the Corsa alla spada (May) and a much acclaimed festival of chamber music August.
There is a famous wine trail in Matelica, where Verdiccio is made. The breathtaking Frassassi caves are 10km away - the largest cave complex in Europe. Macerata also runs an open air Opera festival each summer. There are numerous feasts and festivals throughout the summer.
