|Minimum Stay||3 nights|
The Chateau Gites provide a very high standard of accommodation, all have flat screen freesat TV, DVD, fully equipped kitchens inc washer dryer, dishwasher & microwaves.
The Western Gite accommodates a max of 4+1 infant and has been recently completely renovated to include a fantastic walk in shower and open plan kitchen. The Eastern Gite accommodates 4-6 and has a jacuzzi bath and open plan kitchen. Both have electric central heating and cozy log fires for winter rental. The Farmhouse compliments the smaller houses with its far greater capacity for extended families or groups and is centrally heated and now includes air conditioning for instant heat/cooling on two floors. The view of the Chateau from the master bedrooms is magnificent. Outside, all the houses have private barbeques with tables and chairs, for al fresco dining in the evening sun. Children are very welcome and there is a dedicated play area for them with trampoline, slide, swings and even a mini castle for them to play in. With 28 acres of private park your children are totally secure and can let off steam on their own while you relax and for those of you who want peace and quiet, its easy to get away from, as the park is big enough to accommodate all. There are also a number of good golf courses locally. 'Chateau de Serrigny' Petit Chablis is also now available onsite with tasting of this and many others, only a short walk away from your door.
Thank you Lesley for a warm welcome and a lovely relaxing stay at the Eastern Gatehouse. The house is perfect for a young family and our kids (aged 3 and 2) absolutely loved roaming free in the extensive grounds and especially the play area with swings, trampoline, slide & toy castle! It was difficult to tear them away! As for the parents, we enjoyed exploring Chablis and the wine-tasting you organised with Raphael in the village was a really nice introduction. Definitely recommended for a family break just a couple of hours from Paris.
Our only slight critique would be that WiFi is not available in the house, only in parts of the garden, and as there is little phone reception in the village that meant we truly were cut off from communications. But this wasn't necessarily a bad thing as it only enhanced the feeling of getting away from it all ;-)
I have just spent a lovely few days at the Eastern Gatehouse with my wife and two young children. Lesley was a super host, and the chilled bottle of white wine which greeted us on arrival was most welcome! She also arranged a wine tasting with local producer Raphael, which was very pleasant. His Bourgogne Tonnere was excellent. The gite was comfortable, and the kids enjoyed playing in the park and play area. They also enjoyed visiting the farm on the other side of the village. Serrigny is a great base to explore northern Burgundy, and only 2 hours from Paris it is very accessible. Recommended.
We spent a couple of days in Serrigny in the Eastern Gatehouse at the end of August and it was just perfect! Our hosts, Lesley and Paul, did everything to make our stay more than just a stopover on our way to Brittany. We enjoyed our breakfasts in the park with a view of the castle and brioches from the local bakery van stopping right in front of the park, our trips to Vézélay, Auxerre, Chablis, the Burgundy Canal, and last but not least the wine tasting at Raphael's. The kids - and our two dogs - loved the park.
We hope to come back this year!
Everything you wan't from a holiday let & more... Paul & Lesley made us feel very welcome & nothing was too much trouble. The Eastern gatehouse was perfect & all the lets have everything you need for the perfect break, spacious, quiet & homely. The setting is beautiful & there is plenty of private space outside. The area is stunning with something for couples & families. A beutiful & untouched area with all the great Food & Wine (Chablis especially) you can expect in France. Highly recommend you stay here - & it's only 3.5 hours by car from Calais!
We recently spent four nights in the Eastern Gite and couldn't have wished for a more idyllic location. The amenities at the Gite were excellent and we were very lucky that Paul and Lesley were there when we arrived so we received a very warm welcome and lots of useful information about the area and some of its characters!
During our stay we visited many of the local villages such as Tonnerre, Chablis and Beaune and we also went to Reims. There were plenty of options of things to do and we now wish we had been able to stay longer!
The grounds of the Chateau were extensive and secluded and it was lovely to enjoy our evening meals outside with the enchanting view of the Chateau as a backdrop!
We certainly hope to return for another visit. Many thanks to Lesley and Paul, who are excellent hosts and it seemed nothing was too much trouble for them to ensure we had a fabulous stay.
We stayed for 3 nights in October 2011 and would have liked to stay longer.
The Gatehouse was setup with everything you need including a washing machine which is always good when you are travelling.
Also quite an adventure (for Kiwis at least) to be staying in an authentic historical building, complete with stone walls and exposed wooden beam ceilings.
We corresponded by email with Lesley and Paul and they were very helpful regarding details for the stay, and even arranged for the local winemaker to pay a call one evening. Being budding wine enthusiasts, that was a highlight for us as his wines were great and also his English (since our French was high school and not well practiced!) – a most enjoyable tasting and we even managed to carry 2 bottles back to New Zealand!!! It’s a pity we couldn’t take more ?
Kristelle (our local host, as Lesley and Paul were overseas at the time) met us after we arrived, and was very good – organised replacement gas bottles very quickly when they ran out the first night.
All in all we would definitely recommend staying here. Large hypermarkets are quite close by, so no problem getting supplies, and quite close to several interesting places to visit (we went to Chablis, Auxerre, Troyes, Dijon, Vezelay – all highly recommended).
The Chateau is just a stones throw from the famous village of Chablis where there is a lively market every Sunday morning. Locally,we can organise free wine tasting for you and obviously give you the best tips on where to buy Chablis. Here you can taste for free and take guided tours of all the vineyards. 'On site' tasting is also possible in our dedicated cellar saving the need to drive or find babysitters. East takes you to Aube region where the Champagne grapes are grown before transportation north and finally with great Burgundy reds to the south you are perfectly placed. Burgundy also boasts some of the best cheese in France and there is nothing more enjoyable than sitting on the side of the Burgundy canal (4km away) with some fresh bread, cheese and a bottle of local wine. Restaurants offer a wide variety to suit all, but will of course serve up all the local specialities.
Other activities include fishing, rock climbing, canoeing, horse riding and bowling and loads of space for the children to run around in....
Auxerre is 20mins drive with its fantastic renaissance architecture and great shops and restaurants.
