Luxury 2 bed apartment with small garden/terrace 8 min walk from the beach

PROPERTY DETAILS

Set in a peaceful little street and ideal for young families as well as for a romantic break for two, or the golf enthusiast. The apartment comprises of 2 bedrooms, living/dining area, well equipped fully fitted kitchen. We have a private garden/terrace which is completely safe for children to play in as there is no 'escape' to the road. We enjoy the sun from morning until evening. There is always a place of shade to be found and our apartment remains cool at all times.

The entrance to the apartment is gated and the garden/terrace is walled. All windows have electric shutters.

We share the pool with 7 other apartments, but only 3 apartments are being rent out, so you are likely to have the pool all to yourselves.

The main bedroom has a double bed with en-suite shower room/toilet and patio doors which lead out to a private terrace/garden, complete with garden furniture.

The second bedroom has two single beds, with patio doors opening onto a balcony. Both rooms have spacious fitted double wardrobes. There is a separate master bathroom with bath/jacuzzi and toilet and bidet.

The living/dining area comfortably seats four people with digital/cable TV . There is a gated quiet communal pool just 20 paces away shared only with the other 6 apartments in our complex.

The apartment is interestingly build, as we have our garden/terrace on the ground floor, but the rear of the apartment is on the first floor.

Digital/Cable TV with most English channels. There is an iPod connection for the sound system in the bedrooms and kitchen. Do take you own connector with you.

Ample car parking outside, electric shutters and video entry for complete security and peace of mind. You can enter the internal parking place, but have to do control the doors manually from inside the garage.

The apartment is about an 8 minute walk away from the sandy (Blue Flag) beach of Porto do Mos, with two bar/restaurants on the beach, with both inside and terraced seating, ideal for meals or just a drink. The famous Praia Dona Ana beach is about 2 km away. The Punta de Piedade Beach is close-by and is absolutely gorgeous and seems untouched even though it is surrounded by urban neighbourhoods. It is one of the most frequented beaches in Lagos.

Things to Do: Things to do:

Lagos has a marina that arranges daily boat trips to see the dolphins and deep sea fishing, or to visit the grottos. There are several water parks within a short drive, one called Zoo Marine which has dolphins and for an extra charge you can swim amongst them. The centre of Lagos has an open market 6 days a week, plenty of restaurants offering freshly caught fish and a vast array of other dishes from around the world. The city with its colourful market squares has plenty of shops and supermarkets within its narrow cobbled streets. Motor racing entertainment at the Autodromo Algarve.

Children activities:

As well as the golden sandy Porto do Mos beach, there are a variety of water parks and theme parks within a 30 minute drive. Horse riding, cycling, walking, canoeing/paddle boats.

The Algarve/West Algarve region: There are many sandy beaches to be found around the Algarve coast . The sea temperature is often surprisingly warm sometimes even during the winter months. Located on the southern tip of Europe with the vast ocean of the Atlantic in the south and west border, this desirable position provides the south of Portugal with one of the most unpolluted climates in the European continent.

In January and February the coast is covered with white almond blossom shading the many varieties of wild orchids. In March, the exhilarating perfume of orange blossom mixes with the bloom of acacias. During the month of April the abundant wild flowers give cause to the enchanting sound of the many colourful birds. May and June is the time to see the raw beauty of the striking bare barks of stripped cork trees in contrast to the palette purple of the jacaranda. July is the time of of the wonderful fruits like cherries, strawberries and melons. August and September gives grapes, figs and almonds.

About Yvonne Stead

Until 2000 I had never been in Portugal, as I dreaded the stories I heard from Spain and I thought both countries would be similar holiday wise. I have now seen both countries and there is no comparison. Spain busy, Portugal relaxing. People are relaxed, patient and enjoy the tourists. I have bought the place as an investment, but enjoy the little time I can spend in the apartment as well, as I will go there before and after the rental season, just to check that everything is as think it should be. If I rent it out, I want people to be happy.

Why Yvonne Stead chose Porto de Mos

This apartment is just off the beaten track of Lagos. We are close to the beach and you could either stay on the beach all day and eat at the 2 beach side restaurants, or take go to Lagos which is a really authentic Portuguese town. You will be totally relaxed after staying here. Our property is one of the few affordable apartments with a small garden. Our swimming pool is just outside the front door and 1 min walk to the left. Whatever temperature outside, our apartment never gets hot and there is ample shade on the garden. Should you really wish to cool down more, then you can sit at the 2 balconies at the rear.

What makes this apartment unique

The benefit of this apartment is clearly that we have a small garden. There is nothing worse than having a small balcony where you in a U-shape apartment block where all you movements could be watched by other holiday makers and where you constantly have move around your chair to get the sun. The sun comes up in the garden in the morning and goes down there in the evening. It is a lovely apartment which I think you will enjoy as well.

We did not expect Portugal to be so green and full of flowers. The walk to the apartment was filled with honeysuckle. It was certainly not too warm, but comfortable enought for a nice break. Thanks for allowing us to stay at your beautiful apartment.

Lovely stay - would definitely return

My family and I had a great time in Portugal and loved the property. Yvonne was very accommodating when we had to add an extra day at the last minute. The property is well maintained, cleaned but the best part is the location! Less than 10 minute walk to the beach which was beautiful. The beach also has 2 restaurants and a snack bar that were very convenient. The property is exactly as it is represented in the photos so there were no unpleasant surprises.

There is a grocery store very close by. One the first day, we walked to the grocery store. It took probably 15-20 min so its not too far however it is not flat terrain so can get very hot walking in the heat with grocery bags. We rented a car on our trip and the store was less than 5 minutes drive.

As we had a car, we drove almost every night into town of Lagos so I am not sure how much a cab would cost but it was no more than a 5 - 10 minute drive. The town is great, plenty of restaurants, stores, and nightly activities.

Overall, we would definitely recommend this property to anybody that wants to be walking distance to a beach but also relatively close to restaurants and other attractions.

Impressive apartment in a quiet location

Very spacious for my wife and I and our 17 year old daughter. Very well appointed with all the necessaries for a relaxing self-catering break. The apartment is surprisingly cool throughout which is very welcome when taking that afternoon siesta.
We enjoyed the privacy of the garden and clean well maintained pool, both of which get the sun for most of the day.
A short walk to a lovely beach which has two very good restaurants right on the beach, both serve excellent food at a good price.
We had a hire car so we could visit the Monchique Mountains and Cape St Vincent, both very beautiful locations.
The nearest supermarket is about 15 minutes’ walk and about 25 minutes’ walk to the Harbour of Lagos, so a car isn't necessary if you can manage that ok.
Recommend 'Days of Adventure' for one of their boat trips out of Lagos, We paid 25e each for the Dolphin seeing trip and this was amazing with over 200 common Dolphins seen.
A great holiday and hope to re-visit.

Clean, quiet, spacious and cool.

Close enough to Lagos to visit bars and restaurants, but far enough away to get some real peace and quiet. If going to Lagos and wanted to have a drink then a taxi fare was only 5 euros. Was glad that I had a car to get in and out of town for shopping as the heat made walks over 20 mins exhausting.
The apartment was extremely clean and well stocked with what you need. When it got very hot the air con was excellent and needed.
Mullens restaurant in town was great for good food at good prices and the two restaurants on the beach at Porto de Mos served fantastic seafood.
My family paid 10 euro each for a small boat trip in and out of the many caves along the coastline, good value.
Great apartment for sun and sea lovers although I would like to return out of season when temperatures are more moderate.

Well equipped apartment, all things in good condition and selected with taste. Cooling location of bedrooms, we never switch on air conditioner. Just 6 min walk to perfect beach and young atmosphere of Lagos. These all proved as balanced conditions for any family superb choice for a nice vacation.

Relaxte vakantie

Heerlijk rustige vakantie gehad op een geweldige locatie in een geweldig appartement van alle gemakken voorzien en last but not least op 7 minuten lopen van een prachtig strand gemarkeerd door rotswanden.
Het stadje Lagos, omringd door een oude vestigingswal met op steenworp afstand een prachtige modern geoutilleerde haven, is gemakkelijk te bereiken middels auto (huren op vliegveld bij Zitt Auto's).
De omgeving biedt genoeg uitdagingen en natuurlijke aanzichten om de dagen door te brengen.
Het strand biedt voldoend plek en is zeer rustig gelegen.
In deze periode nog een heerlijke temperatuur van ca. 27 graden Celsius.
Al met al reden om nog een keer terug te gaan.
Een aanrader voor mensen die niet de hectiek van overvolle stranden opzoeken.

Owner's Response: Tranlation: We have enjoyed a nice and relaxting holiday on a tremendous location in a great apartment comprising of all you need. The trip to the beach is only about 7 mins walk. The beautiful Lagos town is at easy distance by car. The surroundings of Porto do Mos offers plenty of excitement and naturual beauty to spend your days. The beach is pleasantly occupied and there is alwas a space to be found. In September we still enjoyed 27C. We will certainly be returning. This is a must for people who do not want to go to a packed beach. Thank you very much for the excellent service.

Historic Lagos with its cobbled side-walks and colourful market square, is without doubt the most interesting town in the Algarve and is the nearest town at 5-10 minutes walking distance, but is literally minutes away by car. The town boasts a beautiful marina which has been built within the last 10 years and is a wonderful place for 'people watching' with many restaurants and bars looking out over the marina. Whatever you want, relaxing or clubbing, it is there to be enjoyed.

Lagos also boasts the most magnificent beaches and the harbour is rich in history. The town has museums and a gallery with many shops to browse around. The main town also has many different restaurants and is the hive of activity at lunch times and in the evenings. The town also 2 daily fresh food markets (fish, meat, vegetables and fruit), 4 main supermarkets and plenty of interesting shops and restaurants. ATM machines are to be found in numerous locations as well as in the leading banking offices. Good heal
