This sunny village house is within 200 metres of the centre of Ceret, with its many restaurants, galleries and local shops. Ceret has an outdoor swimming pool, petanque and tennis courts and is a 10 minute drive from a swimming/leisure lake and is within 30 minute drive of the beaches. The area is ideal for hiking and water sports such as diving and windsurfing which are available on the coast. Ceret hosts many traditional Catalan festivals including the Cherry Festival in May. Picasso, Braque and other major artists spent time in the town and their work can be seen in the Modern Art Gallery. The pretty coastal town of Collioure with its winding streets, galleries and harbour made famous by artists Henri Matisse and Andre Derain is well worth a visit as is the fishing harbour of Port Vendres with its thriving fish market. Ceret is only 15 km from the Spanish boarder so it is quite possible to take a day trip to the beaches on the Costa Brava. The Salvador Dali Museum at Figueres is a 30 minute drive and Dali's house in Cadaques is about 1 hr 30 mins away. It takes about 2.5 hours to drive to Barcelona. The long awaited 50 minute high speed TGV link between Perpignan and Barcelona is expected to open in July 2013.
