A room with a view

It was our second stay at Eagle House in Broadstairs, and we were very happy to come back there. The apartment is really cosy, although with only one bedroom, but the view is stunning, and it is so relaxing to wake up with the sound of the waves on the beach... The apartment is right on the beach, and it is very convenient with children, who can go and play by themselves, while you can keep an eye on them. The town is nice and small, and everything can be done on foot. Long walks on the different beaches guarantee relaxing moments. Plus the owners are very attentive and always leave a bottle of fresh milk and all the towels and linen ready. We will coome back!

All the best of beach life in a beautiful flat

Well maintained holiday flat with all amenities inmidst of beach and promenade life. Ideal for a summer holiday with one or two children. For elderly people, the stairs - although just one up to the promenade and one down to the small garden leading directly on the beach - maybe too steep and small and the beds a bit too hard. Around Eagle House there are really many bars and restaurants. For an extended day of shopping we recommend Canterbury, not even half an hour away by train. Kingsgate Bay and Botany Bay are beautiful places for a visit by bike. Nearby Margate has "The Turner", a wonderful little art museum and gallery.
The owners of the flat are very friendly and helpful, lovely people indeed. All in all very recommendable.
Owner's Response: All comments are welcomed for the ongoing success of our property. With regard to the comments on the stairs, we do state that it is not suitable for people with disabilities. The house dates from the 1750's and consequently will have features not found in modern buildings. We are sorry the beds seemed too firm, but what one person will find firm another may find supportive. Beds are a personal preference, never the less if we have any further comments we will certainly look into the problem. Carole Terry & Jenny Munden

Eagle House,For a Unique Holiday.

We were met and guided to our apartment by Jenny, where we then met Carole who was making sure everything was ready for our comfort. It was a really warm and friendly start to our winter holiday, enhanced by the provision of all the tea and coffee making materials and a bottle of red wine.
Even in the month of March we were snug and warm in our apartment, watching the shipping travelling up and down the Channel, through the excellent telescope provided. The apartment was even better than we had expected from the photographs, and was a testament to the great care and thoughtfulness that had obviously been put into it's decoration and design.
The view from the window was fantastic, the whole of Viking Bay and the Channel, there was always something to see, we would never draw the curtains until we had watched the Ramsgate ferry leave with all her lights blazing, and in the mornings twice we were lucky enough to see the sun rise over the bay.
Why is Eagle House unique? Where else can you enter a house at chimney pot level and leave by the beach, with it's back in position against the cliff that is what we were able to do at Eagle House. From Viking Bay it is possible to walk the length of the beach to Ramsgate, a great walk to a very interesting town.
We were delighted with Broadstairs, it is justly proud of it's association with Charles Dickens, but is not a town living in the past. Just a few minutes walk from our apartment, was the main street with restaurants serving food from all over the world, with vibrant pubs providing live music on most nights, there was even the smallest cinema we had ever been in showing the latest films. Our favourite evening venue was "The Chapel", built in 1601, it is packed with books that you can buy or browse, while drinking hot cider or real ale by a roaring log stove, they also have food and live music. Back in the apartment in the evening the only sound to be heard was the waves on the beach, lulling us to sleep each night.
We would recommend Eagle House to anyone, we shall certainly be back.
Owner's Response: Delighted to hear you both enjoyed our little gem by the sea.

We have just returned from an idyllic week at 4 Eagle House. The location cannot be surpassed, the flat is beautiful and very well equipped. Although the weather was changeable it did not matter as the wonderful views from the flat meant you could sit and watch the weather/beach/people all in comfort. We received a very warm friendly and informative greeting from Carol. Highly recommend a stay here.

It was a wonderful time! The location of the apartment is just fantastic!! We were in the 2 weeks of very, very comfortable and felt can only express our absolute recommendation. Broadstairs is a magnificent place, but also Margate and Ramsgate are recommended and the road to Canterbury is not too far. We will definitely come back. Nicole & Kai

Broadstairs is a unique seaside resort, totally unspoilt by the ravages of time. It does not boast noisy amusement arcades but exudes a traditional friendly charm that exists throughout the year. Built directly above the sheltered Viking Bay with beautiful sandy beach and small harbour. Its all year round appeal is due to the near proximity of many wonderful beaches. The Viking Coastal Trail is perfect for cyclists and walkers alike plus many fabulous golf courses, one being the famous Royal St Georges at Sandwich which plays host to the British Open Championship.
