The Garden House is a three bedroom luxury loch side property. It has its own waterfront access and views over Loch Linnhe to the Glencoe Mountains in the east and Morvern and The Isle of Mull in the west.

Fort William, Scotland’s outdoor capital is ten miles away and the village of Glencoe, one of Scotland’s most important and impressive historical sites is just three miles away.

The garden house was built to take fullest advantage of its location, something you’ll appreciate whether you’re standing on the balcony watching the sun rise over the loch, admiring the view from the garden on a summer’s afternoon or gazing at snow capped peaks on a moonlit winters night. But its not just the view.

All three bedrooms have en suite facilities, there are two doubles and one twin.

Huge house with fabulous view

We simply loved the house – it is really huge and has stunning views on the Loch and the mountains on the opposite coast. No matter if you sit at the table in the living room (which actually is two rooms – one with an open fire place and a huge leather bank, the second part with a table for lunch & dinner in front of a panoramic window), in the winter garden or wake up in the master bedroom in the morning – you always can enjoy this view. Each bedroom (3; in the first floor) has its own bathroom and there is an additional shower and toilet downstairs. Important for parents: most windows in the upper floor can be locked and there is a children’s chair. Ample CDs, books and DVDs are provided, just in case there is a really rainy day.
The kids particularly liked the large garden and the direct access to the shore – which is rocky in front of the house (with tidal pools), but grades into a dine gravel beach within 50 m or so to the west. Great for beach combing and a campfire in the evening (there is a fireplace directly on the shore in front of the garden.
The kitchen is large, well equipped and has plenty of dishes which means one does not need to do the dish washing after every meal, which is very convenient.
The area around offers many possibilities – Glen Coe, Glen Navis, a boat trip on the loch, Devils Staircase, Ben Navis, seal watching on natural rock outcrops on the opposite side of Corran ferry, near Sallachan point – (be sure to visit the wildlife hide west of Strontian if you like that kind of stuff), the Glenfinnan viaduct, etc…
We’ll definitively come again.

Nice house, amazing views

Lovely house with superb setting and views. Shame the weather was bad that meant we were unable to use the garden. 3 well appointed bedrooms, the main one has amazing views and balcony. Kids loved the fact that they each had their own bathroom. The whole place is far more spacious than we expected. The open fire was a bonus. Would definately stay again but maybe next time in summer!

Amazing Views and very comfortable house

I was looking for somewhere to stay that had views of a Loch - this property provided that and more. The views are stunning and the pictures really don't do them justice.

The property is located on the main road but is set back far enough that there is no traffic noise. The house itself is huge downstairs, and I mean it is big, with plenty of places to sit and watch the water or look up the valley to Glencoe. Upstairs there are 3 very good sized comfortable bedrooms all with ensuite. This makes the property ideal for 2 or 3 couples.

The house is a short distance away from Fort William, where there is a good size Morrisons (with Petrol station), Aldi etc so you can stock up with food if you decide to eat in, or you can always stroll through the garden to the hotel next door if you don't fancy cooking.

Its worth a drive around Loch Leven, as this is nice or for somewhere a bit further catch the Corran ferry and drive around to the Ardnamurchan lighthouse. Although this isn't that far away it does take quite a while to get there as a lot of the roads once you leave Strontian are single track so you can't speed along - just enjoy the views. Alternatively take the Road to the Isles up to Mallaig - great views but be aware there is not a lot in Mallaig and it is very geared up to the ferry arrival and departure times and they only tend to serve meals at lunchtime so if you just want a cuppa you might have to search around. It's worth coming back on the A861 as this is a lovely drive.

This is a great place to stay, nice and clean and warm and a perfect location to explore this part of Scotland.

Great home with spectacular views.

My family of six adults had loads of room in this spacious home. My husband and I had the balcony room looking out on Loch Linhe and the mountains all around. It was the most beautiful view I have ever seen anywhere!! The garden was gorgeous and my kids loved to sit in the summer house and read.
We really felt sad when it was time to leave. We could've happily stayed here forever!!

Excellent Garden House

We have stayed in many houses,cottages and even castles in various areas of Scotland...but we found The Garden House to be one of the best we have visited. The house is spacious but comfortable and feels like home...the garden and loch side location exceptional...and the views- whatever the weather- keep changing throughout the day. Onich is the ideal location for touring almost any area. Thanks Shona and Tom for letting us share your property.

Lovely House By The Loch

It was raining when we arrived and after a long journey we wanted to unpack and have a nice cuppa! After making a beeline for the kitchen, kettle on, we set about exploring the house. We have stayed in many cottages and have found that if a cottage smells nice the rest falls into place. This hit the spot smell wise and turned out to be a perfect place to use as a base when exploring the area.
After spending a week there our only criticism was the fact that there was only one shower, which proved a bit inconvenient for our party of 5.
We enjoyed typical Scottish weather i.e. four seasons in one day but whatever the weather the view across the Loch from both the garden and the warm, cosy conservatory was quite captivating. The highlight for us was watching a group of porpoises swimming past on a flat, calm evening.
The area was most welcoming and we explored it extensively. There is a lot of talk about customer service these days but the Scots are just naturals at it!
In Fort William you must visit The Crannog Fish Restaurant, The Skipinnish Ceilidh Show and do The Jacobite Express. Also visit, via Corran Ferry the Ardnamurchan Lighthouse and the Nadurra Visitor Centre. Take the cable car at the Nevis Centre for fabulous views and also visit Neptunes Staircase.

The village of Onich lies along the shore of Loch Linnhe, north of the Ballachulish Bridge on the A82 and in sight of the Glencoe mountains to the south-east. Looking south-west and west, the seascape is both open and dramatic with the mountains of Ardgour towering into the sky.

Onich has a Local shop/ Cafe as well as several good hotels all with great views of the surrounding countryside. Onich lies on the bus service to and from Glasgow and Skye, including the service from Edinburgh which passes through here.

Both Glencoe in the south and Fort Wiliam and Ben Nevis to the north are generally no more than a 25 minute journey.
