: Garons (Nimes)
There are many excellent restaurants in the area near this beautiful holiday rental, especially in Uzes where there is the market on Saturdays and Wednesdays, which is busy with everything on sale from fresh olives, fish and vegetables to linen and lavender.
The historic towns of Avignon, Nimes and Orange are all within easy reach, the latter two holding musical and operatic performances in their Roman Amphitheatres. Nimes also has a variety of Ferias throughout the year, including a two week Flamenco Feria in January.
For the more energetic, there are great walks and cycling routes nearby ( cycles can be hired from St Quentin la Poterie) and the Cevennes mountains are only an hour away. Go swimming or canoeing at Les Cascades de Sutadet or Collias where you can canoe beneath the spectacular Roman aquaduct at the Pont du Gard. An hour or so and you can be at the beach at St Maries de la Mer in the Carmargue, famous for its flamingos, white horses and Bulls.
Most villages have a local wine shop or Cave as they are called where you can have a degustation (tasting). The house is right on the edge of the Cotes du Rhone and Pays D'Oc areas.
