About Peter and; Mandy Daley

Hi, We have owned Clematis Cottage for four years. We are both lucky enough to have be brought up on the Isle of Wight.

We chose Clematis Cottage for its great location, close to the beach, the old Village, parks and countryside, perfect for our family.

We have three children, one boy and two girls , they all love Shanklin and the beach and can't wait to stay in the cottage.

Being a close family all hands are on deck, our mums are a great help, we have a lovely housekeeper and her family who help, and a very willing gardener who turns his hands to almost anything.

Knowing how much families have to take with them on holiday we have tried to think of everything so that all that needs to be had is a good time!

We really hope you love the cottage and The Isle of Wight as much as we do.

Peter and; Mandy Daley purchased this cottage in 2011

Why Peter and; Mandy Daley chose Shanklin

We chose Clematis cottage for its great location, we already have Honeysuckle next door which is a holiday cottage, but were finding it hard to find a week free for ourselves, Clematis seemed the perfect solution. We love how close it is to the beach, water-sports, The Old Village, parks, and great countryside. The size of the garden was another great plus as we have very active children with plenty of energy. Our children love the rabbits on the lawn and looking out for and feeding the squirrels in the winter, they are getting very cheeky!

We love the fact that you feel miles away from the bustle of a busy seaside town, yet are close enough that within a few minutes walk you can be part of it.

What makes this cottage unique

Clematis cottage for us is a relaxing holiday, surrounded by plenty of things to do and see, or just watch the children play in the garden. The red squirrels are facinating to watch and are getting quite brave! The Old Village has many places to eat out, its nice to walk down in the evening, without the worry of the car, or to stop for dinner or a drink on the way back from the beach. Rylstone Gardens, only a couple of minutes walk away has a crazy golf garden that's fun and café and sometimes in the summer has bands playing in the bandstand. It's also great to have the use of the nearby indoor pool, perfect to amuse the children if the weathers not too good. The Island has so many different things of interest and none of them are more than an hour away.

Guestbook comments from the owner

“We all had a lovely time and enjoyed the comfort of Honeysuckle Cottage enormously….

We would like to stress that the facilities in the cottage are amazing. …. The location of the cottage was fantastic, and the décor was refreshingly modern and homely and not typically like a hotel. On arrival it was wonderful to walk into a sizeable and comfortable living room with plenty of room to sit comfortably.

“…. we had another lovely holiday!

The Todd Family

…. just as we remembered it - homely and very comfortable. My son …. was very sad to leave, and first thing he said this morning was "I want to go back to our Isle of Wight home!".

The Gretton Family

"Your place was amazing and we had a great Xmas !!"

Thank you very much for everything and we hope to return again sometime in the future.”

Great cottage, great location

  • 5 of 5

Had a wonderful stay at this modern, clean well presented and equipped cottage. Brilliant location for touring the island. Our Grandchildren had a wonderful time playing in the large garden and we're delighted by visits from Red Squirrels and Jaybirds. The Isle of Wight is the perfect holiday location and mews cottages only enhances the experience. Would I recommend it? Absolutely!

Fantastic holiday experience

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful holiday cottage - which was a perfect match for our family of four (children 2 & 4 years old). Spotlessly clean, well furnished, with everything you could ask for. Peter and Mandy were an absolute delight to deal with from start to finish. The cottage made a great base for our holiday. Would highly recommend, and will certainly be going back!

Fantastic and would highly recommend

  • 5 of 5

We have previously stayed at Clematis Cottage which is perfect. On this occasion we needed to book two houses so we chose Honeysuckle and Jasmine which share a good sized, safe, well equipped garden, which our two year old grandson loved!

The houses were again a very high standard of cleanliness and tasteful decor. The cottages are in a quiet, exclusive area yet just a few minutes walk from Shanklin village. For self catering accommodation we would highly recommend Chestnut Mews and wouldn't consider staying anywhere else when visiting the Island which we hope to do again soon.
