Photos and Description of this 3 bedroom holiday villa in Alberobello - Trullo Olivia

Beautiful three bedroom Trullo with private solar heated infinity pool & Wifi

Trullo Olivia sits in an acre of it's own grounds surrounded by olive, almond and cherry trees. Situated on a hilltop a few kilometres from Alberobello, the magnificently renovated trullo is in a peaceful location with beautiful views all around. Outside the trullo boasts a private 50 sq.metre kidney shaped solar heated swimming pool on the extensive private terrace and gazebo area. The barbeque sits underneath an arbour with sun loungers, occasional tables and hammocks ensuring guests enjoy lazy days in the beautiful Italian sunshine.

The main cone of the trullo forms the lounge with comfortable leather seating, leading to the dining alcove and fully equipped kitchen. One of the three attractive and comfortable bedrooms enjoys an ensuite shower room with the remaining two bedrooms sharing the unusual yet completely functional shower room built into the original oven.

Trullo Olivia is in a very rural position in the Itria Valley but only 5km from Alberobello the main town of the trulli region where there are many shops, banks, bars and superb restaurants. It sits on a quiet road with virtually no passing traffic so very safe especially for families with young children.

The views across the valley are stunning and from the trullo walking is a pleasant pastime.

There are many local towns to visit apart from Alberobello - Locorotondo, Martina Franca and further afield Ostuni & Lecce. All these towns have wonderful historic centres. The Adriatic Coast is around a 30 minute drive where there are many beaches public & private.

There are wonderful caves at Castellana, the amazing cave houses at Matera and zoo safari at Fasano - something for everyone. Or of course as many guests do just laze around the pool totally relaxing.

There are guide books and lots of information in the trullo to assist our guests during their stay.

Chris who lives and works in Alberobello takes care of the day to day running of Olivia. He is very friendly and informative about the local area, meets all guests on arrival in Alberobello, accompanies them to the trullo and is available throughout the holiday should he be needed.

Complementary Wifi is available inside and outside the trullo.

What a fantastic place to unwind!

  • 5 out of 5
The beautiful Trullo is about 8 mins drove from the bustling Alberabello and so has the perfect combination of being close to amenities and yet peaceful and relaxing away from it all. It has everything you will ever need and more. There were no disappointments in terms of facilities and space described. It was the best stocked villa we have ever stayed at - a great bonus was not having to fill up the first supermarket trolley with the usual array of cleaning products - they were laid on for you. This little detail is very much appreciated. In fact the Trullo really did feel like a home from home - cool during the daytime and cosy at night.
We were there for 2 weeks and to be honest after the first week we found the local food a bit bland – every restaurant basically serving a different variation on the same theme. But with the superbly stocked Kitchen and Dining Areas we enjoyed cooking at the villa as well.
The customer service was extremely helpful although we rarely saw them as there was no real need. I would definitely recommend the Trullo to friends of ours who may be considering Puglia in the future.
2 weeks is probably too long if you are the out and about touring type - we spread our excursions over the 2 week period spending most of the tine just relaxing during the day and venturing out for dinner in the evening. But Italian ways are later than UK so be prepared to not eat until around 9pm. If you go out earlier you will find the restaurants and streets are very quiet. The larger day trips we enjoyed were Lecce and Matera - very worth it but give yourselves a full day to enjoy the trip and the sites.
If you are looking for a combination of chilled charm the Trullo and Puglia are a perfect place to try.
One downside to do with travel!!! Unfortunately the car hire places at Bari Airport were absolutely terrible - very slow and very under staffed. You might need a stress reliever once you get out the car - but then that's exactly what the Trullo gives you.

Like paradise at end of roller coast path ...

  • 4 out of 5
You wonder where that roller coast path/road will take you and then you discover that little paradise on earth surrounded by olive trees, fields, vineyards and just wish that time would stop there. Needless to say we enjoyed very much the place its facilities, solar heated swimming pool. Nice location for discovering Puglia. Description of the place is accurate - WIFI not very effective but we did not miss it. Lots of nice restaurants not too far from the place but we also used the nice BBQ facility. We can only recommend Trullo Olivia!

Fabulous Trullo - definitely like to go back!

  • 5 out of 5
We stayed at Trullo Olivia at the first week in May 2014. The place was fabulously decorated with lots finishing touches and very well equipped. It was like a home away from home! We were able to sit and relax by the pool a couple of afternoons. Unfortunately the weather wasn’t very accommodating for swimming but it looked very inviting. The weather didn’t stop us exploring the local villages and towns. Alberobello is definitely worth seeing but very touristy. We had a delicious lunch Miseria e Nobilta which offers great views of the main square and the Basillica (beautiful inside as well). Some highlights of the other places we visited were:- we had a fabulous and plentiful anti-pasta lunch in Locorotondo at La Taverna del Duca; we went to the market on Thursday morning in Noci where was full of locals and plenty of good quality fruit and veg; Monopoli is worth a visit – unfortunately very wet when we were there! Finally gave in to the rain and visited the Castellan caves – you can’t get wet underground! (wear flat comfortable shoes and take a jacket) – they were spectacular – go on the 2.5hr tour so that you can see the White Grotto even if the tour is in Italian – the highlights are pointed out by the guide using a torch.
Some practical advice for visitors - don’t hire a car that is too wide and definitely pull in the passenger wing mirror when driving in the very narrow roads in the villages; it is worth checking as parking is often free between 1 – 4:00pm when the shops are shut; there is a great broadband connection at the Trullo which made it possible for us to attend to some work issues back in UK. For those who would like a light and very funny holiday read about the local area we recommend “Head over Heel – seduced by Southern Italy” by Chris Harrison.
A BIG thank you to Jan & Bob for ensuring the Trullo Olivia is a place you would want to return to again and again.

Beautiful Trullo with every mpdern convenience

  • 5 out of 5
We were a group of 6 adults and stayed 4 nights at Trullo Olivia. The house was exactly as described and photoed on the web if not better. It was in excellent condition and very clean and well maintained. The pool was fantastic again extremely well maintained and was used every day. The house facilities -crockery, kitchen ware, linen etc was in excellent condition and we had everything we needed when we wanted to cook. The Bbq was also an extra bonus. The location is ideal for exploring the Trulli area Locorotundo, Gravina, Martina Franca, the coast towns and we also did a day trip to the Matera, - highly recommended.
Jan provided very efficient and thorough customer service from my first email to after we left.
If you are visiting this area I would highly recommend a stay at Trullo Olivia for a wonderful blend of a trullo with modern conveniences. Only wish I was there now!

Lovely trullo in beautiful landscape

  • 5 out of 5
We are a family of 5 and were happy to stay a week in June in trullo Olivia. The trullo is lovely, the pool area superb and the surroundings very rural and quiet. Everything corresponds very much to the description.

The trullo is located in beautiful Puglian landscape and is a very good base camp for the day trips around. Alberobello is quite touristy but very unique, should I say odd, town with all those hundreds of trulli and a place certainly worth visiting. Matera is very very impressive sight - a real MUST to experience! And there are loads of other interesting destinations around.

The weather quite high in Alberobello could have been better that week but on the coast nearby it was often more sunny. I think the next week was sunny in Alberobello as it was in Amalfi where we went on.

We can recommend trullo Olivia.

Italian idyll

  • 5 out of 5
We had a fantastic relaxing week at Trullo Olivia with our two young children. The trullo exceeded our expectations, set in an incredibly picturesque and rural location where the children were free to roam to track geckos and pick cherries and almonds from the trees, whilst still only a 10 minute drive from Alberobello with its excellent restaurants, well stocked supermarket and food markets.

Trullo Olivia was a real home from home, spotlessly clean and very well equipped with everything we could possibly have needed, including a selection of board games and DVDs for the children. The owner has provided a very helpful and comprehensive information book with plenty of good recommendations. We really enjoyed using the bbq and the solar-heated pool and diving board, though the water was still a little too cool for my toddler - we should have packed a wetsuit!

Communication with the owner was excellent, very helpful and quick to respond. We were met on arrival by local staff which was a nice touch.

There are plenty of good day trips nearby if you can drag yourself away from the pool, including some excellent cycle routes. We felt we'd only scratched the surface of what the local area had to offer after a week. Highly recommended.

Owner's Response: Thank you, I am so pleased you had a happy holiday and enjoyed the wonderful quiet peaceful location of Trullo Olivia. Glad to hear you found my guest information book useful, each spring it is updated for the season and something new is always added. There is a lot to see in the local area but sometimes just staying by the pool is too tempting, especially with the fantastic view to take in. Chris, Alison and the team who take care of our trulli for us do a fantastic job keeping everything inside and out immaculate, something our guests always appreciate. Thanks again and perhaps you would like to visit again one day.

Puglia stretches from the stiletto of Italy's heel to the spur further up the boot and has a sunny Mediterranean climate. The region is very 'Italian' and boasts over 50 million olive trees producing 10% of the world's olive oil. It is also the largest wine producing area with vineyards in abundance.

Trullo Olivia is situated in Capo di Gallo, a few km from Alberobello, the main town of the Trulli region. Home to around 1400 Trulli clustered together forming narrow cobbled streets; there are many excellent restaurants, bars and shops selling local handicrafts.

Alberobello lies in the picturesque Itria valley and is a facinating town to explore, market day is a must. Locorotondo and Martina Franca a short drive with Ostuni a little further away. The rocky Adriatic coast is around 20 km to the east with small sandy inlets, crystal clear water and many wonderful seafood restaurants overlooking the sea. The Ionian coast is around 50 km away and has long sandy beaches worth exploring

Other Activities: bird watching
