About this property

Terraced village house at the heart of the historic Céret town centre

An architect renovated house arranged over four floors offers a fabulous modern maison de village situated right at the heart of the historic centre of Céret. The house has been completed to a high specification with innovative features and a fully fitted modern island kitchen. The top floor offers a cosy lounge with a magnificent view of the church tower and glass doors leading to a small but attractive terrace equipped with BBQ and an outdoor glass table that tops a light well that illuminates the kitchen below. The property has 2 en suite bedrooms situated on the ground floor and first floor that are surprisingly cool in summer.

Located mid way between the bars and restaurants of Le place de Pablo and place Neuf Jets, you are less than fifty paces from each yet in contrast this quaint little street offers privacy and tranquillity, isolated from the noise, a world away: quiet and private.
This bijou little property has been decorated to a very high standard. In the most prime of locations in this beautiful little town it is perfect for a romantic break or for 2 couples/families of up to four.

Serene Ceret
We arrived late and wandered through the magical streets of Ceret town to discover the house tucked away in a little street behind the ancient arches/ramparts of the medieval town centre. The layout of the house is cleverly done with a room on each floor and still managing to make each of the two bedrooms en-suite. It is comfortable, well equipped and right at the heart of this pretty Catalan town, which itself is the perfect base to explore the Mediterranean, the Pyrenees and northern Spain/Catalonia. Our teenage children enjoyed it too, especially visiting the beaches and cafes at Argeles and Collioure, as well as the park at St Jean Pla des Corts which is only a few Km away. The house is well maintained, the owner and agent being really very helpful in every regard and we'd definitely recommend it to others.

Wow, wow!
What a place! We loved every minute of our stay at 3 Rue de Ramparts in Ceret. The apartment was so well located we couldnt believe our luck We stayed here for 10 days and on our first morning we walked out but a few metres to find the markets full of fresh foods, flowers, local crafts and other interesting items. We had fun cooking up fresh produce in the quite well equipped kitchen. The apartment was nicely put together, clean and had all that we needed. The only issues we found was that we needed a couple more pillows and the size of shower in ground floor ensuite was a bit small, but nothing we couldnt overcome in this location. Ceret as a town was fabulous with lots of cafes, resturants, bakeries and other closely located shops and galleries. Being so close to the Spanish boarder you can have the best of both worlds Costa Brava one minute and Pyreneese Orientals the next . We can totally recommend a visit to the Dali Museum in Figueres and a ride on the litte yellow train and of course just enjoying Ceret and its welcoming people. Jay the local property manager was also very helpful giving ua access to some local knowleged, helping us with car hire and transport to the train station when we left. Thanks so much we loved it. A very special house in a very special town
A fantastic vacation in Ceret!! It's a very nice house in the middle of this old and special town, with galleries and nice restaurants everywhere. In the evenings there is jazz-music in the streets and a big market is arranged every Saturday. The house is origionally from the 13th century but it’s completely (and tastefully) modernised. A very nice housekeeper met us the first day and gave us all necessary information. Everything in the house was neat and clean. Ceret is close to the Pyrenees and we have been driving high up in the mountains as well as visiting the fantastic beaches at Carnet, St. Cyprien, Argeles sur Mer and the very special old town Collioure. We also made a short trip to Spain, but we prefer France. We enjoyed every minute of our vacation in Ceret, and can recommend this place to everyone that likes both walking in the mountains, swimming in the sea and nice and warm evenings with good food and wine at Place des 9 Jets, Place Pablo Picasso and Place de la Republique. I’m sure we someday will return to Ceret! Magnhild & Carl, Norway

We live in beautiful Kenya and have done so our whole lives. My husband and I have been together since we were teenagers and have two young adult daughters. We love to travel, but decided a few years ago that we would like to invest somewhere outside Africa with the hope that one day we will be able to divide our time more equally between Southern France and Kenya.

Why they chose this property

We wanted to be close to my husbands mum and sister who live on the Costa Brava as well as members of my family who live near Aix. A friend mentioned Ceret and we sent family to investigate. After their positive reports, I set off to find our dream house and immediately fell in love with the town. It was a series of lucky meetings that led us to 3 Rue des Remparts. We love the location and the contrast to our lives in Kenya. I walk out the door and get a rush of happiness every single time - it is so aesthetically pleasing and the people are so nice.

What makes this property unique

The house is so old, yet so modern inside. The ramparts are right outside the door. Its steps away to the Saturday market stalls, the wine cellar, the boulangerie and lovely restaurants. I didn't even realise we had such an amazing view from the sitting room when we agreed to buy the house - what a bonus.
