Bright spacious apartment which is centrally located for all of edinburgh and beyond, this apartment provides the ideal place to stay and relax with many extras provided such as wireless internet, essential food/breakfast items, complementary toiletries, dvd's cd's, toys books, games. The accommodation consists of t shaped hall, large lounge with 32in TV and leather sofas. Fully equipt kitchen with full cooker, fridge/ freezer, washing machine and dining area, dining room, master double bedroom with en-suite shower room. Twin bedroom with 2 single beds which can be linked together to make a king. This room can also take a cot or extra guest bed. The bedrooms have a lovely view of arthurs' seat while the lounge looks out onto the shared garden area. Garden chairs are provided. Wwi, cot, high chair, baby bath all provided.NON SMOKERS ONLY

About Carol

Having a preference for self catering holidays since my children were young, I like to think I know what extra touches make a good holiday in to a great one and I hope that is what everyone will experience staying at my Apartment. I have lived in Edinburgh most of my life and really love the City and all the diversity that it has to offer and I hope you will enjoy it also.

Why Carol chose The Meadows

The location is very central with many of the tourist sites with a short walk and therefore no need for a car not even for self catering as there is a large supermarket with ATM and Pharmacy open till 10pm every night beside the apartment.It also has a good bus service from the main road. Most of all it is a safe quiet area.

What makes this apartment unique

When you chose self catering I think it is important to be able to shop for food easily. This apartment has a supermarket just beside it. It is also well served by many buses from the main road to allow you to experience all of edinburgh and beyond from the zoo in the west to seaside in the east without the extra cost of having to hire a car. A car is not required due to the central location, however if you are coming by car there is a free dedicated off road parking space at the apartment, so no parking fees. Holyrood Palace and Park and the Royal Mile are only a 5 -7minute walk away.

“Wonderful stay in Edinburgh - highly recommend”

The apartment is conveniently located, walking distance to Royal Mile. Super market across the street - as kitchen was stocked with breakfast items we had no need. Very clean and spacious property. Carol our host was wonderful, very friendly and had folders with helpful information for the area.

Apartment has free wifi and is located in quiet area with parking stall.

We hope to visit Edinburgh again and would definitely stay here!

We stayed here for three nights whilst visiting family. Travelled with my Mum Dad and my two children (6, 2) and we had a great stay. Carol was very welcoming and had thought of everything to make the children feel at home. DVD's, toys, children's towels, games... My children felt very at home. The kitchen being stocked with essentials was a great help and the homebaking went down a treat.

The apartment was ideally located......walking distance from Hollyrood Palace. Super market( Sainsbury) was just across the road. Nicely maintained property & was spacious for a family of four adults. The host Carol had equipped the apartment with all toiletarries & kitchen with cereals, milk, juice, bread, butter & jam.Carol was very friendly & had given tips for travel to & around Edinburgh. Located in quiet area & still close to Royal Mile. Will definitely stay at this place during our next visit.

“Perfect in every way!”

I'm so glad we found this last minute apartment as we will be staying here again! Myself and my 5 month old baby boy went with my mum and dad who are in their 70's.

The apartment itself is spacious and clean. It has all you would need and more! It felt like a hotel having breakfast items already in the flat and all basic essentials you would need. Having a cot and high chair available meant a lot less to take in the car. Beds were comfortable and the cot had a proper mattress in it. Free dedicated car parking space and free wi fi.

Shops literally a 2 minute walk across the road were a godsend. Only a short bus ride into town centre and taxi only cost £6.

Carol is a lovely host and bent over backwards to accommodate us!

Only downside is no lift, which would be fine if you are fit and healthy. Did get a bit much for my parents but only going up them. There aren't many stairs and they are in 3 sets rather than one big staircase. We managed it with the baby and would stay again so cant have been too bad.

Portobello beach is a short car/bus journey away, around 15 minutes and the beach is beautiful! Sandy and clean with amusements and the normal sea side shops. Dog Frie

A Perfect Home-Away!

What a gem! My first trip to Edinburgh, I was setting out on totally new adventures. Carol made everything perfect. Where do I start?....comphy living room with travel books and helpful tips from past guests; a well-stocked, cosy kitchen; bright, cheerful bedrooms with my very own view of Arthur's Seat. The apartment was impeccably clean, with many thoughtful conveniences a traveler might need. The neighborhood is safe, quiet, easily accessible to city attractions by bus and on foot. Especially convenient was the right-next-door ATM and grocery that sold everything from stamps to fresh pastries to great local cheese.

What a gem! Thanks, Carol, for making Edinburgh feel just like home!

Home from home

Every possible attention to detail has been given to make this flat a real home from home, and I couldn’t fault the flat or the effort put in by Carol (the owner) to make sure we had everything we needed in terms of provisions and information about the local area. I brought my 3 small children for a short stay, which isn’t easy at the best of times, but everything I could need was there, and a supermarket literally across the road. What was provided in the kitchen way exceeded my expectations - jams, sauces, tea/coffee, breakfast cereal etc. – even a loaf of bread and some milk in the fridge! There were toys and books for the kids, WIFI, films and more. The flat itself and location were lovely, with a safe parking spot for the car and plenty of attractions within an easy walk. I would definitely recommend this as a place to stay for a thoroughly enjoyable and stress free stay in Edinburgh! I will most definitely try to stay here again when I visit again.

Absolutely lovely all around!

This flat offered a great, comfortable homebase in a safe, clean neighborhood--with an assigned parking spot.

This property was ideal for us: very well-maintained, in a quiet apartment block. I had been torn with taking a unit closer to the Castle, but--after touring that area--I was very pleased that we stayed here, which was far more quiet. It is a only a quick walk to Holyrood Palace, Parliament, Dynamic Earth, and the start of the hikes for Arthur's Seat (as well as the start of the Royal Mile).

Truth be told, we did go up a wrong street on our way to the Royal Mile, but a pleasant bystander set us straight. Had I paid attention to the great information packets that Carol had left, we would have been fine from the start.

That evening, we did go through the folders that Carol had left, which included maps as well as restaurant reviews,menus, and bus schedules.

What an amazing, gracious, well-organized and wonderful hostess Carol is! One, she baked us shortbread, left a dram of scotch, and also gave us a special Scottish breakfast patties, only made and sold in Scotland (Carol told us the name, but I can't find my note.)

The end result was she provided delicious treats as well as stocked the kitchen with milk, juice, cereals, butter, jams, marmalade, sugar, teas, coffee, honey and sauces! And the kitchen had every essential pot, pan, utensil, and dish we could have wanted. In our entire visit, we thought of only one thing we would have liked that wasn't there: some leftover plastic grocery bags. Everything else was at hand!

Carol's great customer service extended to her coming the next day to troubleshoot the WiFi. It turns out our son had disconnected a cable. Though it was our mistake, Carol was incredibly gracious and got the service working for us.

I would highly recommend the property. It was spacious, with good storage and many positive attributes beyond the convenience for sightseeing. Carol thought of everything: new and classic DVDs, books on local history and more. She even had new slippers for us, though we did not need to use them: the flooring was clean, the carpet soft, so we felt comfortable going barefoot.

Because of the great location, we enjoyed the Royal Mile, a hike on Arthur's Seat, a tour of Parliament, and more! And we had a most relaxing refuge to return to. While the bedrooms offer great views of Arhur's Seat, the livingroom and kitchen look out onto a thick stand of trees. It was indeed lovely.
