Reality far exceeded my expectations!

I have just returned from nearly two months in Italy, and used this website for all my accommodations. I stayed in Rome for a week, then in Venice for a month with friends, taking day trips by train, then to Lucca. I traveled with my husband and another couple to Lucca and stayed in this cozy apartment for 3 weeks. After I got over my first fear that I would become hopelessly lost in Lucca, I discovered that was exactly what I wanted to do. In the process I encountered such unexpected beauty. Mrs Sonia’s apartment was so easy to get to and to use as a home base. There is a great view from the apartment. The owner provided us with many information: menus, books and maps. The train made distances easy to cover for daily trips, and I soon learned that walking was often the fastest way around when in town. The owner has thought of just about everything. Everything I needed was there. The apartment price was more than fair and I liked that it was all inclusive (no hidden add-on costs), which was not the case for my apartments in Venice and Rome. The apartment is in a prestigious and elegant area, just in front of the new Lu.CC.a Contemporary Art museum, and I was able, in a limited way, to engage in the daily lives of some of the neighboring businesses and cafes. After the second morning, the bar (coffee house) owner greeted me as if I was a local. The apartment was described accurately and was spotless. It is perfect for 1 or 2 couples. It certainly was perfect for our party. My suggestion if you're wondering how long to stay, try to stay at least 7 nights (or even more). Make the trip to Florence and Siena, it's worth it, but not for more than a daily trip: too busy, too hot, too many tourist traps! It was very easy and cheap with the train to get there. In Lucca the minor museums may not be as well visited as the Contemporary Art Museum, but they houses some of the most impressive antique collections from the first half of the 14th century that can be seen in Europe. There are wonderful restaurants throughout Lucca, and people watching couldn't be better! The colour of the buildings along in the Anfiteatro square, in the afternoon light, is a photographers dream. Thank you Mrs Sonia, you made my trip to Lucca, perfect!
