About Susan Hard

We have owned this property since it was built in 2006 and all our family have enjoyed it for its closeness to the beaches and the Bestival. Although we don't live on the Island we have very professional agents who live close by who look after the property for us and are available if anything goes wrong.

Susan Hard purchased this cottage in 2011

Traumhafter Familienurlaub in Südengland

  • 5 of 5

Thanks again Susan and Peter for the wonderfull stay as well as the dinner invitation, we really loved it and had such a good time!

Wonderful Ivy Cottage

  • 5 of 5

We booked a weekend away with our best friends and chose Pulborough as it is easy to get to and there is lots to do and see.

I chose Ivy Cottage as it looked very comfortable and perfect for what we wanted. Susan, the owner was really accomodating and helpful from the outset and made us feel like nothing was too much trouble.

The cottage is wonderful, very well equipped and a good size. The beds are really snuggly and we all slept well (apart from the bells chiming in the church opposite!), which is always a real must for us when we are away from home. The kitchen is well equipped, the bathrooms are great, the lounges comfortable, and the conservatory, with its big table, is ideal for meals and playing cards. It is so nicely kept and I would love to see the garden in full bloom in the Summer. There is no off street parking but there is lots of room on the road outside and we didn't find this a problem. I would recommend Ivy Cottage to my friends and family without hesitation. We are planning a return trip. Many thanks Susan....

Wonderful cottage

  • 5 of 5

We have had a really lovely time at Ivy Cottage, and highly recommend it for a beautiful stay in the countryside with good access to lots of walks.

The cottage is very pretty and wonderful in the winter months with its log fire. Very comfortable space, wonderfully clean and lovely interior décor.

The hosts are incredibly kind and helpful and we would happily return in the future for another stay.

Family Get Together

  • 5 of 5

We rented the cottage for a pre Christmas family get together as we were not going to be.seeing my children, their partners and my 3 month old grandson at Christmas.

The cottage was perfect for this purpose, it has a lovely dining room with a table large enough for all of us to have meals at and sit around chatting and playing games. The owners were fantastic, they had put small Christmas trees up in the dining room and lounge and we used these for our presents. There were mince pies and a bottle of wine waiting for us when we arrived. When we sprung an unexpected additional guest on them at short notice they were wonderful and so helpful in accommodating us.

We used the log fire which gave the place a lovely cosy feel. There is a 2nd smaller lounge with a tv which we found useful as we didn't all have to endure the programmes that 2 or 3 wanted to watch. The accommodation in general is first class and everywhere spotlessly clean. There are 2 bathrooms which is very handy for a group of our size.

There is a decent sized Tesco very close by and a Sainsbury's a little further away so it was easy catering wise. We used the local Indian for a takeaway one night, this is only a 5 to 10 minute walk, there is a Chinese and a Fish and Chip shop also all very handy if you don't want to cook.

Overall I would strongly recommend the cottage, the facilities are perfect and the owners brilliant.

Lovely in-village Cottage

  • 3 of 5

Really recommend this lovely cottage. Has all the amenities highlighted by a great dining room conservatory and back garden.

Be sure to take the walk right out of the cottage and right again on the footpath after the train bridge.

Also, the Banyan Tree Indian restaurant I'd NOT to be missed. Great CIA trained chef cooking dome amazing, authentic Indian dishes of truly high quality.

Ivy Cottage is within walking distance of the railway station in Pulborough. It is easily accessed by road, being close to the A29, which runs through the middle of Pulborough ( but cannot be heard from the cottage.) Gatwick airport can be reached either by road or by rail, and is about 40 minutes away. Generally, a car is recommended so that the local sights can easily be accessed, but countryside walks can be made directly from the property. There is a good local taxi service.

Distances:

Petworth with its National Trust house is 5 miles away. The RSPB bird reserve at Pulborough is less than 3 miles away located near Parham House with its fine interiors and Gardens near Storrington. The coast can be reached in about half an hour by car. Pulborough is 50 miles south of London, which can easily be reached by train within the day (low price day return tickets are available.) Goodwood, with its racing, house, Festival of Speed and Revival Meetings is less than 30 minutes away.

Further Details:

The South Downs National Park is just south of Pulborough on the other side of the Arun River. There is excellent walking, and a book containing suggested walks is available within the property. The bird reserve in Pulborough is particularly popular, and provides a good value restaurant. Pulborough itself contains two supermarkets. There is a variety of pubs and restaurants both within the village and within driving distance. Petworth contains many antique shops as well as the house with marvellous walks over the Capability Brown designed Park. Arundel to the south also contains antique shops and the castle, home to the Dukes of Norfolk, is open to the public and has an interesting garden recently designed by the Bannermans.
