House in Alaro, Mallorca, Balearic Islands - 3 Minutes Walk To Beautiful Village Square

Charming traditional newly renovated village house located in the centre of the village. Alaro, a typical Mallorcan village, is situated in the foothills of the Sierra de Tramuntana mountains approximately 25kms north of Palma. It still retains its authentic village atmosphere and the beautiful village square, with its imposing church is the focal point of village life. Frequent fiestas and celebrations are held in the square (where there is also a regular Saturday market), with young and old gathering to join in. Alaro is an ideal situation for those who wish to be more active, it is surrounded by excellent walking countryside, and many of Mallorca's golf courses are easily accessible, as are the beautiful sandy beaches of the Bay of Pollensa. The village itself has a good choice of amenities including 4 banks, a post office, internet facility, a pharmacy, numerous bakeries, 2 supermarkets and a good selection of bars and restaurants.

Suitability:
  • children welcome
  • suitable for elderly or infirm

About megan ellis

I live in the U.K but have owned various properties in Mallorca since the seventies

megan ellis purchased this house in 2008

Why megan ellis chose Alaro

I purchased my house in Alaro primarily because my daughter and her family live there. However, I really love Alaro, it is a typical mallorcan village with a great atmosphere. The surrounding countryside with almond and orange groves plus being in the foothills or the Sierra de Tramuntana mountains make it a very pleasant spot to spend time in. Also Palma and the hustle and bustle is only 30 minutes drive away and the very good bus/train service is really convenient.

What makes this house unique

The house is situated in the centre of the village so all the amenities are within easy walking distance

Guestbook comments from the owner

Summertime in Mallorca

  • 5 of 5

I spended my summertime in Mallorca from 3-16 August 2010. It was a 2 weeks with my friends.

The house is amazing. It has big spaces, garden, deckchair, very useful kitchen where we cooked every day. One of my friends resorted the massage service. The house is established on the center of the village, everything is really close to it. (e.g. If you forgot something you can just jump at the house…)

I followed every moments of the festival of Dimonis d'Alaró which happened that period. It was FANTASTIC!!! I have never ever seen this kind of festival since then. It worths watching.

I hiked the mountain of Alaró on my birthday. I painted in the village and I drew the house where I lived. The house and the place is suitable for those who would like to spend their summertime in a beautiful small village, from where you can travel to every points of the island.

If I can I would travel again there and rent this house again!

I would like to thank this opportunity to Amanda, Sebastian and Megan!

Owner's Response: Dear Dori Thank you for your review of our home in Alaro. We are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay and that you were happy with both the house and the village of Alaro. We hope that you will visit again, and, if you do you will find the house has been renovated and improved, including a new shower room, newly paved patio and a new 50 sq mtr roof terrace. So more comfort inside and lots more sunbathing and relaxation space outside. Thank you once again for your kind words. Best wishes Megan and Amanda

Fantastic last minute find!

  • 5 of 5

What a fantastic find! Having been let down by another property owner, we were forced to find alternative accomodation somewhat at the last minute and we are so glad this happened because we were lucky enough to come across this gem! Both Megan and Amanda were lovely and couldn't have been more helpful from start to finish. The house itself was perfect for us and so much bigger than it appears in the photos! There was everything we needed in the house and more! The beach towels supplied were a lovely extra given the airline baggage restrictions. It was an easy walk into the centre of the traditional mallorcan village and we were lucky enough to stay during the fiesta week which was an unforgettable experience. There were several bars/restaurants, a weekly market, post office, bank and a few supermarkets - perfect. The motorway was easily accessible so it was less than half an hour in the car to travel north or south to countless beaches, attractions and traditional villages. We had a wonderful time, thank you to Megan and Amanda!

Owner's Response: Thank you for taking the time to review our property and your visit to Alaro. We are very pleased that our house and the village provided you with a good holiday experience. We are especially glad that your children had a happy time; they must have been very disappointed when your original booking fell through. We like to think that our house is suitable for both couples and families so we are happy that it exceeded your expectations. We hope to improve the photos as we are aware that they don't really do the house justice. Also, before the spring of 2014 we will be making improvements which will provide guests with 50 square metres more roof terrace. Thank you again for your review Megan and Amanda

ALARO

Alaro is a fabulous village, in my opinion the nicest in Mallorca. It is a typical Mallorcan village with a great atmostphere.Alaro's central location makes it an ideal base for a holiday. Alaro is well situated for walking, cycling and exploring the beautiful country side. Alaro is equally popular with locals as well as expatriate residents. The immediate surroundings are beautiful. The Castle of Alaro is a must to visit and below the Castle you have the famous "Es Verger" Lamb restaurant. Rick Stein on the "Visiting Mallorca program" said it was the best lamb he had eaten world wide !. You can drive half way up or walk in two hours. On Saturday morning you have the fresh food market in the Village plaza. The plaza has many bars and restaurants where you can sit outside and enjoy tapas in the sunshine. The beautiful village church is situated in the main plaza. Palma is about 30 minutes drive as are the beaches on the north coast ( Pollensa,Alcudia) Local facilities are excellent, there are two supermarkets, numerous bakeries and two butchers, post office bike hire shop, petrol station,Tony Mora Boot factory. There are three banks/ATM in the village, plus a chemist newsagent selling international newspapers. There are many reasonably priced bars and restaurants.

The island golf courses are distributed across the Island so with the central location none are more than an hours drive away. The closest is Son Termens which is 20 minutes drive.

Orient is a 15 minute drive from Alaro, there you will find your typical Mallorcan restaurant as well as Mandelas Restaurant with a more international flavor.

There are vineyards in the surrounding area of Alaro.
