Guestbook comments from the owner
we love the area and came back for a second time to the Montecatini Region. and wanted a peaceful retreat within easy reach of the highlights of Tuscany, this was perfect. a car is essential but if your getting round the region you are best advised to have a car anyway.
The Villa has obviously recently been refurbished and decorated to a high standard. with lots of Tuscan character. with the most amazing ceilings. surrounded by an olive grove.
If you don't mind not booking when we want to go back that would be appreciated. will hopefully return next year.
I'm a physics teacher in a secondary school in Cobham, Surrey in the UK. I have been teaching for 31 years. I have worked for GlaxoSmithKline as an Education & Training Consultant and also for Hounslow Children's Services managing multi-agency support teams dealing with vulnerable children. In my education career, I have been a Deputy Headteacher, Head of Maths & Science, Head of Pastoral care, but now I'm just a Head of Physics and enjoying the day to day teaching. I am Chief Instructor at the local karate club (www.kobukankarate.co.uk) and have trained in Shotokan karate for 30 years. I also teach Tai Chi. A keen runner, I run the local Windsor Half Marathon each year (getting slower each time!) and run several 10Ks throughout the year. My wife, Gill, is Headteacher of a local primary school. We have 3 children (all grown up) and one adorable grandson.
We have always loved Italy and spent 2 years looking for a place to buy. We traveled all around Tuscany and Umbria and eventually decided on Casa Cipressi. Why? ....because in our opinion it has the best of everything. An ideal country location with beautiful views, yet only 15 minutes from civilization, hypermarkets, rail and autostrada, big town shopping. Nievole, itself is only 5 minutes drive from the medieval town of Montecatini Alto and is close to many excellent restaurants and pizzeria. The surrounding countryside is perfect for walking (and running and cycling). All the main attractions of Tuscany are in easy reach for day trips: Florence, Siena, San Gimignano, Viareggio, Lucca, Arrezo, Cinque Terra, the Chianti Trail, Cortona, Volterra.
We knew this was the right property for us when we drove up the winding road from Nievole with olive trees on either side. Then, we turned into our drive and drove down into 5 acres of olive grove and chestnut forest until we reached the house. It has outstanding views across the valley and is totally secluded. You can hear the stream flowing, there is an abundance of wildlife (deer and the occasional wild boar). The house is a traditional tuscan farmhouse dating back to the 1800's but has all the modern comforts and fittings. Above, it is a place to relax and enjoy.
