Living: Exposed beams & burgundy stone give the pretty Salon a wonderful ancient atmosphere, perfect for relaxing after a busy day of wine tasting or wandering around the local markets. Separate dining room set in the Pigeonnier with seating for 6 makes for enjoying a great Burgundy Dinner.
Outside: Private courtyard with dining on the verandah perfect for those warm summer evenings. Right in the centre of the village within walking distance of the local boulangerie.
The village of Puligny Montrachet is surrounded by the famous vineyards; ideal for biking along the dedicated cycle trails through neighbouring villages Mersault and Chassagne Montrachet. The village has a wonderful bistro, the famous 'Le Montrachet' restaurant and several caves or cellars, where you can taste and purchase Puligny's famous chardonnay.
Only 10 km from Beaune, the centre of Burgundy wine, where you can enjoy the Saturday morning market, the Marche du Vin, the Hotel-Dieu and other tourist attractions.
My family and the two friends who stayed with us thoroughly enjoyed the lovely house and the beautiful villages around it. The fact that the house has free wifi and free international calls to many countries was a lovely surprise and came into handy as a few of us (sadly) had to monitor our work emails from our iPhones.
The house was immacute. After staying in hotels for 2 weeks prior to arriving at the house, it was like going home with the beautiful kitchen and modern and clean bathrooms (and the washing machine to say the least!!!). If we ever return to Burgundy, we will have no hesitation in renting the same house or another one of Bourgognemaisons properties.
We spent a few days with friends ( in total we were with 9) at this beautiful property. 4 adults and 5 kids.
The house is very well located between the best Burgundy wine makers of the world. The beds were comfortable, the bathrooms were large and the kids enjoyed the big bad tub.
There was enough space for playing in the garden and parking both cars behind the fence.
We enjoyed driving through the well prepared wine fields, the wine tasting and the nice park in Beaune, were the kids good run and play on the play fields.
Also the Saturday market in Beaune is worth visiting.
Recommended for: almost everyone, as long you can walk the stairs..
We spent a week at this beautiful property and were lucky enough to arrive just as the harvest was beginning, which provided a wonderful atmosphere in the village.
The house is very well appointed and furnished in a traditional French style, which is just what we were looking for. The beds were comfortable, the bathrooms were large and spacious and the kitchen ideal. The satelite TV was also appreciated by the children.
We enjoyed the village and walked to the local restaurant most evenings to sit outside with a glass of local wine before returning home to cook dinner. There is also a great bakery just a short walk from the house. The house and village are only a short drive from Beaune, where we went to the local market and also hired bikes. All in all a great holiday in a lovely property.
Le Montrachet was wonderful. The house combined old world charm with the most up-to-date conveniences in the best way possible. The bathrooms and kitchen were perfect. The five burner gas stove was excellent....granite counters, copper pots, double sink....outstanding. The wooden beams, and stone walls gave us the ambiance we were looking for in Burgundy. Except for two days that brought rain and clouds or when we were dining at local restaurants, we ate most of our meals and enjoyed our wine out on the lovely terrace. Although the local Boulangerie was temporarily closed for renovations, we found that the local Epicerie had excellent baguettes and croissants...after learning to master the excellent coffee machine, our mornings were perfect....croissants, french coffee, baguettes, delicious french butter and jam in a glorious setting. The beds were comfortable, the sofas too. Although there was supposedly wireless internet, we had to manually connect our laptop. There was a television with satellite but we rarely used it. The village was lovely...a wine bar around the corner, a welcoming and friendly restaurant steps away, vignerons literally across the street and on virtually every corner in town. Add to all of that the fact that a two minute walk up the hill outside of town brought us to the most famous white wine vineyards in the world made this a vacation we will never forget. We rented bicycles in Beaune (BOURGOGNE RANDONNEES, ask for Florent) for a day and followed the well marked bicycle paths through the vineyards down to the canal outside of Santenay. On a perfect late Spring day, our picnic lunch of baguettes, cheese and wine made for a wonderful day among the vines. We cannot wait to return.
We really enjoyed our stay. The house is beautiful and furnished very well. The beds were very comfortable. Puligny-Montrechet is a wonderful and very friendly village. We will remember it fondly.
Arriving late at night it was great to find the beds were already made with beautiful linen and the house was very clean, and tastefully decorated, the minute you walk in you feel at home.
Early in the morning the children walked to the nearby baker to get fresh bread for the day, there's also a little supermarket.
The house feels warm (we arrived mid-winter!) and has lots of extra's to offer, we had a washing machine, dishwasher, microwave and oven and to top it of a real Italian espresso machine.
In the town centre there are a variety of restaurants to please everyone's budget, we had a lovely meal at the local bistro, the perfect place to go when you have children. Just down the road is a very upmarket restaurant for the descerning guests. Everything is within walking distance.
Within 15 minutes drive you are in Beaune, a lovely small town with Saturday markets with fresh produce and lots of different cheeses to chooses from.
Taking the toll road into Dijon will only take about a half an hour and cost apporx €2.60, a beautiful city with lots of architecture, it looks like you've just arrived in little Paris, Dijon has a market in the centre of town on Friday. (And for the kids there is MacDonalds)
We've done lots of winetasting at the local wineries and we're told the're having a big sale in November! The real topper was a terrific Chardonnay from Pulligny Montrachet, The most Famous white wine in the world!
We can't wait to return in summer, this is holiday at it's best, quiet and relaxing, pure enjoyment!
