a perfect holiday with 3 generations of our family

  • 5 out of 5
We enjoyed a fantastic 2 weeks in Trevara with 3 generations of our family in August 2014. We found the property to be of excellent quality, in fact exceeding my expectations. There was ample space for all of us, whether it was in the 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, games room, sun room, dining room, kitchen or lounge. The space was great to enjoy together and ample enough for us all to get time along if we wanted to, which made for a relaxing 2 weeks. I particularly enjoyed cooking in the superbly equipped kitchen and entertaining around the large dining room table.
The garden was an added bonus as were the 2 parking spaces. I agree with those who have noted that the lane to the property is narrow, but we have a large estate car (VW Passat) and we didn’t encounter any problems with access (we simply had to fold the mirrors back and drive carefully).
The views from the property and the general location though are what really made it for me. Many of the windows frame a view of the sea and there are several fantastic places from which to view the mount or other areas of coastline. I slept with the windows open listening to waves roll in on the beach.
Although we did take our car, part of our party travelled by public transport as well which also proved to be very simple (train to Penzance and then regular easy bus journey) and once we’d parked the car we pretty much left it there for the week as the property is so wonderfully close to all that Marazion has to offer. We walked to the beach every day, which was close enough even for our 2 small children (3 and 6) not to have a problem with it. We were able to take the bus to St. Ives for a day out from right outside the property (although you could drive obviously) and there are many other wonderful activities and places to visit in the surrounding areas.
All in all a magnificent time was had by all and we certainly plan to return in future. On a practical level the property is looked after by a wonderfully helpful housekeeper who lives just around the corner who was always available to assist if any issues came up.
I would thoroughly recommend this property for anyone looking to stay in the West Cornwall area.

Owner's Response: It is just lovely to read how well the cottage fitted into accommodating the family. Trevara does indeed offer a wonderful holiday space in lovely Cornish seascape surroundings.
Thank you for your comments on the car parking issue. The plus side is that if you are confident to drive down the narrow lane you have private parking at your disposal to a lovely cottage which is tucked away from the crowds. We are lucky, however, that there is alternative chargeable parking in the village, only a few minutes walk from the cottage.
Our aim for any of our guests is to ensure that they can enjoy their holiday. We are here to help and need to know if they have any problems whilst they are staying so that problems, if any, can be dealt with immediately

Tremendous Trevara

  • 5 out of 5
It was to our good fortune that we chose to spend a two week break at the fabulous ‘Trevara’. Although we had weighed up various alternatives in the UK, we could not have been more delighted with our final selection than we were with the spacious, charming and beautifully presented holiday home. It provided all we could have hoped for and had no difficulty in comfortably accommodating our 6 strong adult family.
Waking up on the first morning with spectacular views out to sea and over St Michaels Mount, we realised we had found somewhere very special. This was further confirmed when walking the short distance into Marazion and discovering this tranquil and very welcoming historic centre. There are also good beaches, one very close to the house which our Labrador, Millie thoroughly enjoyed and the other which is an extensive sand swept bay ideal for children, swimmers and other water sports enthusiasts.
In addition to everything on the door step, Trevara provides an excellent base for exploring other parts of West Cornwall, both north and south coasts, or taking to the sea on fishing trips and other maritime adventures. In fact, depending on how far you want to go, the list of possible activates seems almost endless – or it all becomes too much you can simply relax locally, read a book in the garden or visit one of the first class pubs and restaurants.
In fact, our holiday was such a success and there is still so much more to do that we are not only planning an early return to Trevara but, next time we may well book up the immediately adjoining and equally delightful Little Trevara to swell our party up to ten and make the holiday even more complete.

Owner's Response: Thank you for taking the time to review your stay in Trevara. It is wonderful to have the cottage and all the near by amenities endorsed.

The opportunity to spend a relaxing holiday for up to 10 people, with the ample space provided by the two cottages in such a location, has over the years proved a great success and we always look forward to welcoming our guests, friends or their families, to enjoy and hopefully benefit from being able to spend time together but with room to breathe!

Wonderful location, wonderful characterful cottage

  • 5 out of 5
From the outset booking with the owner, Sally, was easy and friendly. When we got to the cottage we were surprised at how big it was, particularly the master bedroom which is set at one end with wonderful views of the sea and St Michael's Mount as you lay in bed. Next to this is a newly decorated bathroom with bath, shower, sink and toilet. Beyond that is a twin room then another twin room before the other shower room with sink and toilet. It meant that we could be on holiday with the children but have some space to ourselves. The sun room and games room with snooker table were a bonus and a hit with everyone. The location is ideal for a walk down into Marazion which is a pretty little town with art galleries, eateries and gift shops. The cottage has the very best equipped kitchen that I have come across and everywhere was very clean. The driveway down to where you park is very narrow but we managed to get down in our Mondeo, although in the end we chose to park down in the village car park which is no problem at all and car park attendants were very obliging. It was a lovely walk back. All in all a relaxed, quiet holiday in this beautiful tucked away location with easy access to all South Cornwall. We would definitely recommend this to others.

Owner's Response: It is wonderful to lie in bed and gaze out on St Mounts Bay and St Michaels Mount with sea sparkling or even when the storms are up and the scenery turns dramatic.
The spaciousness of the cottage does make it ideal for a family holiday or a group of friends wishing to spend time together but with out being crushed into a confined space. The cottage really does offer an ideal, relaxing accommodation.
It is lovely to be able to offer this special accommodation to our guests.

Excellent, lovely house and fantastic views

  • 4 out of 5
The house was as described and in really good order throughout. The views from the garden and balcony were amazing (pictures don't do justice). We landed lucky in that the weather was glorious for the whole week! Garden was nice and well kept and I quite enjoyed watering the pots most evening to keep the plants happy. Beach below the house is dog friendly and beach at Marazion is very nice. St Michael's mount is pretty awesome and Marazion itself is a lovely little town with a couple of good pubs and nice restaurants. Don't have anything negative to say about the house or holiday. Word of warning though, the door frames are v low and did manage to thump my head on more than 1 occasion (maybe that's just me) and the gap down the side of the house to the carpark is pretty tight but fine as long as you are careful (I have a 3 series BMW), but would be a real struggle for wider cars. We will definitely be back and hope the weather is as kind next time. Oh I should finally add, saw dolphins jumping in the bay on 2 mornings during the week, amazing, so keep your eyes pealed. A set of bino's would come in handy next time.

Owner's Response: Thank you for taking time to review Trevara and delighted to learn that you had the joy of seeing the dolphins. I think the fact that you have suggested taking binoculars is perhaps something which I will consider to leave in the cottage for future guests to use.

Old cottages (built in 1840s) have the disadvantage of low door ways but fortunately the cottage ceilings are higher. Quaintness sometimes comes with a small problems but enriches the character and hopefully you did not suffer too much!

Please visit again I will be delighted to welcome you back for a future holiday

A superb cottage in a wonderful setting

  • 5 out of 5
From the friendly welcome to the high quality of the cottage and to the wonderful setting with sea views, our stay was faultless. We were able to relax and enjoy our week, which was blessed with lots of sunshine. Janet, who lives locally, was attentive to our needs. Thomas, our dog, had a superb week too. I would wholeheartedly recommend the cottage to others and I know that we will return as we fell in love with the cottage, Marazion and Cornwall on our first visit. Thank you again for such a wonderful cottage.

A fantastic holiday in a lovely house.

  • 5 out of 5
Trevara was a lovely holiday property and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. It had top quality furniture and fittings and even the artwork on the walls was worth looking at. It was clean and the garden was perfect to sit out in. We were blessed with amazing sunny weather and the sea views are indeed stunning. Sitting out on the balcony with the sea twinkling and St Michaels's Mount in the distance was just heaven. There are plenty of places to eat in Marazion and the beach is perfect for children. It is worth knowing in advance that the entrance access for a car is very narrow and larger vehicles will struggle and you may end up, as we did, having to park on a car park. However, this was a minor problem and we soon got used to dropping passengers off at the cottage, driving the short distance to the car park and calling in at the pub on the way back. So, would I recommend this property to a friend? - definitely. Would I go back there again? - would love to.

St Michael's Mount in Marazion is the jewel in Cornwall's crown and is a prime coastal location situated in Mounts Bay which sweeps from Lizard Point to Land's End. The old market town of Marazion offers many amenities : shops, pubs, art galleries, sailing club, wind and kite surfing, bird watching and one of the safest sandy beaches in Cornwall.

A five minutes car journey brings you to the bustling town of Penzance and a further 20 minutes you arrive at Lands End with some of the most spectacular beaches and rugged cliffs. This coast is seeped in history, ship wrecks and dramatic mine chimneys standing out on the sky line.

The quaint village of Moushole with its spell binding Christmas lights and the theatrical setting of the Minnack Theatre, built high on the cliff rocks looking out to sea, are a short distance drive, whilst the world renowned Eden Project is 45 minutes away. Stunning coastal walks and beautiful gardens are all close at hand for wonderful days out.

Notes:
Although old and charming, the cottage offers spacious living space, however because of the age of the property the ceilings are beamed and low so care must be taken in passing through doorways. Trevara is suitable for the elderly but the suitability depends on the agility of the person. There are two staircases and the toilet facilities are upstairs only. The garden is laid to grass and also has 2 stone patios. A table and chairs are provided for outside eating and drinking with lovely views overlooking the bay.
