My husband and I first visited Abaco and Casuarina Point in 1996. We were hooked! We vacationed there with our 3 sons and decided to purchase property and build our dream, beach home - Abaco Palms, in 2005. We built a two bedroom house, Kokomo,in 2009 and have added Camp David, a 3 bedroom 3 and 1/2 bath, and Calypso, a 4 bedroom 2+bath house in 2013. Our now grown sons still LOVE to spend family time in Abaco at Casuarina Point. To us it is heaven on earth!
Kathy Heacock - email is always best, since I am often out of the country. purchased this house in 2005
Casuarina Point is a unique location. We enjoy the beautiful, crystal clear shallow water in front of the house, and we are protected by the reef out front that is so fun for snorkeling and fishing. There are many uninhabited islands to explore - private beaches for swimming and picnics - blue holes to explore - bone fish to catch - nature to discover - the list can go on and on! It is a great location for kayaking - we have 4 that the main house and guest house share. We more a 16' Carolina Skiff in front of the house and it is perfect for exploring the area. This is not possible at most ocean front beach houses - the reef's protection makes it possible. Our white sand beach stretches for miles - a perfect walking, exploring beach. Try it - you will be hooked, too!
All of our rentals include use of 16' Carolina Skiff. There is a boat moored in front of each house for your use to go fishing, snorkeling, or exploring the many small islands in the area. There is a Vita SPA hot tub on each deck, and 12 kayak, 6 paddle board, and 3 knee paddle board for our guests use for exercise and exploring. The houses and decks have spectacular views -and you walk right out on the beautiful, white sand beach with crystal clear water. It is a setting that can't be beat!
We stayed at Abaco Palms with my wife and three children (ages 11,8,9 months) and my in-laws Feb 1-7, 2015 at Camp David. Everything we needed was at Camp David. A few of my favorite things:
-The Beach is literally just off the back porch with shade, palm trees, a hammock
-It was a little cold (water and air) in February so we used the hot tub frequently
-Wonderful SUP's with carbon paddles (high quality). Take off from Camp David to the right to the lagoon/marsh and you will see multiple sea turtles.
-Bring a GPS watch if you have one to better locate the Reefs for Snorkeling
-Kathy has thought of everything for families--beach toys, games, DVD's.
-WiFi worked with no problems.
-We ordered Sushi one night and it was delicious and fair priced.
-Be aware that few Restaurants are open in MH on Mondays. Restaurants are pricey. Wish we would have known you can get Lobster on the side of the road for $7.
-My daughters found plenty of seashells.
-Pack n play was available for our son.
I certainly recommend Camp David.
My husband, I and 2 other couples recently spent a wonderful relaxing week at Kathy and Gary Heacock’s Calypso. Calypso is a comfortably appointed cottage on the beach at Casurina Point. If you want utter relaxation this is the place to go. We read, waded, used the spa and fished on our own schedules…just delightful. While we mainly self-catered, we did enjoy two wonderful meals out at nearby destinations. Pete’s Pub and Gallery is the place to go for freshly caught fish. I had the trigger fish and it was delicious. The Delphi Club offered a wonderful eight course tasting menu on Friday night that was one of the finest meals i ever had. I can’t speak highly enough about Abaco as a destination and Calypso as a place to stay. I plan to go back next year.
We stayed at Abaco Palms, the house was absolutely lovely. It was well furnished, the house decor from dishes to towels including furniture was all decorated in Palm trees. The kitchen had every appliance and cooking utensil that could possibly be bought.
We were a party of seven, parents and five adult children. The house set up is phenomenal with two complete master bed rooms upstairs each with a private balcony and beach view. Downstairs the kitchen and fourth bedroom and living room are all open and great for entertaining. You will find plenty of beach toys including kayaks, paddle boards and a fun small skiff.
The beach is absolutely breath taking with clean white bleached sand. The house is situated where you view beautiful sunrises and sunsets. It is quaint and fairly isolated. We were there in January and there we very few people on the beach, I think the only people who use this beach are the home owners and renters. The islanders who reside there full time are extremely friendly and offer valuable advise and information.
While we were there Kathy and Gary (the home owners) we on the island staying at their new home, they came and visited with us and are very charming and genuine people. I highly recommend this property especially if you want to just be on the beach all day. I have nothing negative to say about the property but it is very remote so plan ahead and bring lots of food and adult beverages, and just enjoy.
We had the most amazing family vacation here! The house was perfect. Great place for kids (big and little) ! The beach was perfect. The views were spectacular! Definitely coming back!
We spent two wonderful weeks at Abaco Palms and enjoyed each and everyday. The house was great and the neighborhood was isolated and friendly. The beach is so beautiful and we spent countless hours exploring the sandbars for sea life. The fishing was fabulous. We caught bonefish, snapper, grouper, barracuda, trigger fish just to name a few. Snorkeling the reefs and the blue holes was out of this world. We strongly recommend this rental property.
Every 3 years my siblings and I go on a vacation with our families. This year we were so lucky to stay at 3 of the Abaco Palms properties. Our 10 day stay was absolutely fabulous. We had such a great time watching amazing sunrises and sunsets - enjoying each other without a ton of distractions - other than the ones we created on the water and shore. We have absolutely loved our stay and i wish we were here longer…Thank you for sharing your lovely homes with us! We look forward to returning soon.
