Photos and Description of this 3 bedroom holiday villa in Canillas de Aceituno - Casa Beni

3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms+ shower, sleeps 8

Casa Beni perches on its own 'infinity' platform on the very edge of the lovely white-washed village of Canillas de Aceituno. The villa has three bedrooms en-suite and is beautifully decorated throughout having spacious accommodation for 6 to 8 people. The main open-plan living space includes a fully equipped modern kitchen, large dining table, big sofas and a wood-burning fire. There is a large covered terrace just outside the living room with a mosaic table for 10. There are also various other seating areas around the property and a large gas BBQ. The 8m x 4m swimming pool is set on its own gated terrace below the villa. There are 8 sun-loungers which are light enough to be moved around to the different terraces and large parasols to block out the mid-day sun.

The wonderful thing about Casa Beni is that you can walk to the centre of the village in 5 minutes and yet sitting on the terrace in the evening, listening to the crickets, one feels as if one is in the deep countryside.

Round and About: Canillas is a wonderfully friendly hospitable village with about 3 restaurants and lots of bars. You can do all your shopping up here as there are several greengrocers, a couple of butchers, a chemist and 3 banks. One can buy fish from the van that visits almost every day.

A 20 minute drive takes you down to an enormous supermarket, Eroski, and an outlet centre which has all the best shops in it and also a cinema. There is also an Aqua Park. There is a tennis court in the village but not Wimbledon standard! Also a large public pool and restaurant which is quite a good meeting place. Riding and hiking all over the country side and up into the Sierra Tejada National Park which borders Casa Beni. Mountain biking is also fantastic from here but one needs to be fit!

Malaga provides so many things to see and do - remember that this was Picasso's birth place so there are lots of art galleries and museums.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Spectacular views, white houses on dark hillsides, Mediterranean sunshine, street markets, chiringuito lunches and rioja dinners. It is more that 15 years since I was last in Malaga..... My God what a change. To my eyes you can keep the coast.... but, Ah! the mountains are pristine and begging to be explored, picnic-ed, climbed and trekked. I would love to explore the wilderness that begins a few hundred metres above your house, just the little taste we got has given me an appetite for more.

Canillas de Aceituno is a haven of peace far from the madness of mass tourism and Casa Beni is an eagle's perch apart. Thank you for introducing us to a world I only knew from a map.

Better than advertised

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at Casa Beni was the most wonderful two week vacation we've had in 27 years of marriage - beautiful, beautiful villa - just perfect. It was all that was advertised, even more. We so enjoyed exploring the village a short walk away. In addition to letter perfect directions on finding the villa, the owner also sent us helpful information on restaurants and beaches. The local contacts provided, Sonia and Ian, were great! So helpful in suggesting adventures! Bahia de Tanit beach was fantastic. Went on the ferry to Tangiers - incredible. We'll never forget our time here.

Owner's Response: Thank you for all your kind words. Adventures - whether it is exploring the adjoining Sierra Tejada National Park or visiting Granada, Marbella or even Tangiers - it is all possible and all so exciting! So glad that you loved Casa Beni; it is very special.

Wonderful House in beautiful environment

  • 5 of 5

We spend a lovely holiday in your fantastic villa! The house was absolutely wonderful, complete and very comfortable! We could not have asked for more! It was clean, and had all facilities like washing machine, dishwasher and all kinds of kitchen utensils.

The views were breathtaking! Morning sun rises and Evening sunsets were a true gift to look at! We will return here for sure!

Thank you for everything! Oh one more tip, the restaurant in the village Asador La Maroma is wonderful with delicious food and very friendly people!

Wonderful villa in a lovely village

  • 5 of 5

We spent a fantastic week at Casa Beni relaxing and exploring the local area. The house is even more beautiful than the photos. The interior decor is lovely and absolutely everything is there for you to use (great kitchen facilities, games, books, maps, etc). The views are superb down to the sea. The kids spent hours in the pool and playing table tennis. The people in the village were so friendly and we loved our morning coffees at Angel's Bar. Casa Beni is a beautiful place to relax in and Canillas is a lovely little village away from the crowds. We dragged ourselves away from the house long enough to visit the Alhambra palace in Grenada and enjoyed a swim at Nerja. I definitely want to come back!

Gorgeous villa and lovely village

  • 5 of 5

Stayed in Casa Beni for 2 weeks at the end of June 2012. Near perfect holiday. The villa is a real delight – it’s all the small touches that make it feel less like a rental and more like the home of a close friend. It’s clearly been decorated with care and taste so the kitchen comes with every fathomable cooking implement and the cupboards are stocked with locally written walking guides, good novels and more games than you can shake a stick at. The outside is just as comfortable - great pool - with a basketball hoop and table tennis for those with a more active approach to lazing about the villa. But best of all is the view, on a clear day from the enormous main terrace you can see across the mountain range to the north African coast. Many an hour was spent taking it in – complemented magnificently by glasses of cold fino and platefuls of big plump olives.

The villa can easily accommodate 6 people (3 double bedrooms). I decided to have a few days on my own first before a gang of friends arrived, this meant I had a chance to chill out and meet the locals in the village before my noisy lot descended. One of the best things about this villa is that even though it has beautiful unobstructed views (and is secluded enough to do bikini bottom only sunbathing for those with a penchant for that kind of thing) it is only 5 or 6 minute walk into the centre of the village. However a word of warning that walk involves a near 45 degree angle hill – fine for those firm of foot -but an interesting experience in a car laden with friends and bags - good clutch control is essential! I though Canillas de Aceituno was great – a village with a heart and sense of purpose (you’ll note there are actual youngish people here with children and some have jobs that don’t involve tourism – something unusual in other white pueblos in the slightly more touristy areas). It is good if you can speak a bit of Spanish – mine is poor but I gave it a go. There are two or three good restaurants, we spent most of our nights in a bar/restaurant called La Sociedad, and quite a few small shops some of which seem to have slightly bizarre product specialisations (fish and shoes for example…).

It’s rare that I would ever consider going back to the same place twice but I can honestly say Casa Beni and Canillas de Aceituno might just change that habit.

Lovely house with stunning views!

  • 5 of 5

From the moment of our first enquiry with the owner it was clear that this was going to be a good holiday. Angie provided lots and lots of info and was kind and helpful. Good directions; where to shop; what to do, etc. The village of Canillas is up a very steep and winding mountain road, and the house up an even steeper road, so not recommended for those with fear of heights. Also make sure your rental car has a strong engine! It's a beautiful and very friendly village and you feel a world away from the busy coast, which is still within very easy reach for trips to the beach.

The house itself is spacious and very comfortable with excellent big beds and down pillows and duvets (comforters for USA). It's a home away from home and there are books; games; and a well-equipped kitchen. The terrace with sun chairs and dining table is hard to leave! It's a lively village with lots going on, so don't expect to be in the middle of quiet countryside! great walks from the house into the National Park. In summary: a perfect Andalucia holiday!

Casi Beni

  • 5 of 5

Helen and family Huddersfield West Yorkshire

Stayed at Casi Beni from 18th June - 2nd July with my husband, son and mum. My son and mum were there for one week - this was to celebrate my 50th Birthday

Where to start, the villa is just fabulous obviously put together with a lot of love and style, with comfort as a top priority. Loads of space and absolutely every thing you need is there.

The villa was perfect for relaxing and having a lazy time to recharge your batteries. However if you did want to do more then there is plenty to see.The pool was excellent, a good size and so clean and wonderful for cooling off in. Could not of wished for a better villa or location . The village and the restaurants were a delight and local people along with Sonia and Ian were extremely helpful

Thank you Angie for all your help in making the holiday just right for us.

I would recommend a holiday at Casa Beni to anyone.

Casa Beni is set between the Sierra Tejeda National Park and the famous white-washed village of Canillas de Aceituno, just 40 minutes north east of Malaga. The villa looks out over Lake Vinuela and down to the sea beyond - the Costa del Sol being a beautiful 20 minute drive away. Torre del Mar is the nearest seaside resort and here one can find some fine beach bars. A bit further along the coast are more intimate and private beaches and just outside Nerja, the famous Burriana beach. There are two golf courses within 25 minutes drive and an aquapark.

This is the perfect location to explore the rest of the Axarquia country side and the real Spain or nip down to the coast where the pace is a little faster. Marbella and Puerto Banus are within 1.5 hours and Malaga, which is full of culture and wonderful shops, a mere 40 minutes away. Nerja and its famous caves are definitely worth a visit - 25 minutes. The beautiful Alhambra Palace in Granada takes 1.5 hours and Sevilla a couple of hours.
