Kalkan is a thriving town that still retains the charm of the fishing village from which it has developed. The harbour, with its colourful boats, provides a variety of places to eat, recommended restaurants being Trio and Aubergine.
Boat trips from the harbour will take you out to the islands and offer the chance to take a mud bath. Lunch is included and usually consist of locally caught fish.
Up the hill from the harbour are a myriad of small shops selling local pottery, crafts, jewellery and the leather goods Turkey is famous for. For those seeking a bargain Kalkan has a market every Thursday where haggling skills are a must!
Kalkan has a small, clean pebble beach and a number of beach clubs that will provide a sunbed all day at a small charge. For those who prefer sand Patara beach in only twenty minutes away by car, taxi or dolmus and provides 18km of white sand and rolling surf.
