A Week in Donegal

5 out of 5
Review Submitted: 15 August 2011 Date of Stay: May 2011
The cottage is perfect for a quiet, secluded week. Located up a thin road above Killybegs (just a five-minute drive away), this is a great spot for day-trips around Donegal - Ardara, Donegal Town, Dungloe, Letterkenny, or over to the sea. Grocery in Killybegs for supplies. We took long walks - saw sheep, turf cutters, ponies, and a beagle named Jasper at the closest house - maybe 1/2 a mile away. We hope to return.

Perfect Relaxtion

Review Submitted: 15 August 2010 Date of Stay: June 2010
I stayed here with family in June 2010.The weather was absolutely brilliant - Its definitely the place to go if you want to get away from it all. Its so relaxing and beautiful. Killybegs is just three miles down the hill, about ten minutes in the car - if you want freshly caught fish. Its just the way that traditional cottages are meant to look. Its a step back in time and the perfect way to relax. Plenty of outside space. The turf fire was beautiful to have. Every morning we were wakened by the sound of the cuckoo in the trees nearby. Magical place to go.

One of the loveliest traditional cottages in Donegal. It would fit well between the cottages of the Folk Museum at Glencomcillbine, as example of a 21st century cottage.
It is situated beautifully high up in the mountains, between forest and deep blue Lough Ardeary and a panoramic view of the ocean. The peace and quiet all around you, it is awesome!
The cottage is wonderful, traditional with its thatched roof, flagstone floors and openhearth fireplace, but has all the modern comfort and facilities without loosing any of its traditional charm.
Home away from home, through the cottage, the surroundings and the very friendly and hospitable people, we had a taste of the real Ireland!
Con's Cottage and Donegal in general is the luck of the Irish, and OURS!
