Strand House is a magnificent Regency Villa building spectacularly situated on the seafront in Ryde with probably the best views over the Solent, and just over the Esplanade from Ryde's beautiful sandy beach.

Strand House has two beautifully appointed, well equipped and extremely comfortable non-smoking apartments available for use throughout the year - The Garden Apartment and The Crows Nest Apartment - each suitable for 4(+2) guests.

Strand House is a great spot for beach life...or long walks (6 mile sandy beach and promenade continues to Appley and Seaview), lots of local amenities less than 5 minutes walk (bowling, ice-skating, mini-boating lake, pitch & putt) as well as Ryde's town facilities.

Also brilliant location for foot-passengers to the Island or those who would prefer to leave the car behind occasionally; particularly in the evening as its so easy to stroll into town for the many cafes, excellent quality bars and restaurants.

Local connections are all within easy reach of 5-10 minutes walking including Ryde bus and train station, Catamaran to Portsmouth.

The Garden Apartment on the ground floor provides direct access to our lawned garden through patio doors; walk to the end of the garden, cross the road and you are on the beach... It is a very comfortable apartment and we have significantly upgraded the interior in the last 2 months. A full Access Statement is available for hirers with any concerns about ease of using the property by infirm or elderly guests. Strand House is graded 4 STAR by the English Tourist Board.

Brilliant holiday

This was our second visit to Strand House. I cannot praise it enough. I went with my parents, husband and two kids (6 months & 3). The location on the island could not be more ideal. The actual garden apartment is well designed! We have four adults and two kids in it comfortably. The washer dryer is amazing especially with two kids, the kitchen area is brilliant for cooking meals. Sitting in the garden area was safe for the kids and very secure for the kids. Jan and Tony cannot be nore helpful. We will definitely be back to Strand House

Great Family Holiday

We stayed in the garden flat with our two sons (1 & 3 years old). The flat felt very safe for them to be in and was well equipped. The only downside was a small kitchen, but it had everything we needed to make breakfasts and a few simple dinners.

The location is fantastic. A great beach on your doorstep, a swimming pool, boating lake and children's paddling pool all within 10 mins walk away. Other resorts on the island had steep hills to climb for these facilities and pebble beaches. There was a great restaurant called the Ryde castle just along the road - 2 main courses for under £10, vegetarian food, a children's menu and a toddlers menu! Who needs a huge kitchen when these bargains are to be had!!

The property was immaculate and having a washer/dryer was a godsend! The two sofas had seen better days, but were clean and gave the place a homely feel!

The owners were really friendly and helpful - both on the phone prior to our stay and in person whilst we were there.

Ryde is a lovely town - a nice high street with unusual shops, the second longest pier in the UK, a hoverport, some good restaurants and a clean sandy beach. I would definately recommend ryde and the garden flat at strand house to family and friends!

Amenities within a couple of minutes walk include:

Heated swimming pool, Yacht Marina, Boating Lake, Tenpin Bowling, Cycling, Kids mini fun fair, Ice Skating, Outdoor bowls, Trampolines, Pitch & Putt, Dotto Train to Appley Beach and Town Centre, Gymnasium, Café Bars.

Plus all the local services and shops including grocers, post office, laundrette, pubs, café, fish and chips takeaway and a Chinese restaurant/takeaway. Within 15-20 minutes you can easily walk into Ryde high street for shopping (supermarket, major banks, wine bars and cafes) and there is also a small cinema.

The major shopping centre for the Island is Newport, which is approximately 30 minutes drive.

Activity holidays:

We are ideally placed for those who want to bring a boat to sail from Ryde Harbour. In five minutes you could be exploring the Solent or even sail round the island for the day. There are also passenger fishing/day trips.
