Central location with stunning views of the river Ouse set in refurbished mill.

Ideal as a City Break, this newly refurbished apartment offers stunning riverside views in a peaceful, central location. Two double bedrooms, bathroom, living/dining room and separate kitchen.

Situated in a newly refurbished mill, our 2-bedroom apartment is furnished to a high standard as a home from home, with light-oak furniture and fresh linen. It offers both comfort and convenience and an outlook directly onto the river so that you can just relax and watch the boats passing by and the tourists feeding the geese and swans.

Just a short walk (5 minutes) to the busy shops and historic city centre. Walk down the famous medieval street, ‘The Shambles’ leading to the magnificent cathedral, York Minster. Visit one of the many galleries and museums including the Jorvic Centre which provides a realistic and graphic experience of what life was like during the Viking occupation.

For a different view of the city, take a river cruise or dare yourself to join the nightly Ghost Walk (suitable for children) and learn some of the grizzly secrets of York’s past.

Enjoy an evening out dining at one of the many excellent restaurants or have a pint of beer in an Olde English pub and then dance the night away at a Nightclub. There are Theatres, an Opera House and a specialist Film Theatre with programmes to suit all tastes.

Leeds, Manchester, Liverpool and even London are all reachable within a day by train. The seaside town of Scarborough is reachable in under an hour.

Unfortunately there is no on-site car-parking at the apartment but free overnight parking is available from 6pm to 8am on the riverside beneath the apartment windows (please observe the strict times). Daytime parking is possible on the neighbouring streets but there is a fee for this. Free on-street parking is possible a short distance away but this would involve a walk of about 15 minutes back to the apartment. There are, however, two bicycles available for your use, as there are pleasant cycle paths alongside the river.

Great riverside apartment with water view

We unfortunately arrived during heavy rain for several days and the river flooded so high that our access to the apartment was restricted requiring us to wade through deep water to get into the apartment on several days.
Fortunately the apartment itself was not affected and everything worked superbly. We loved the views of the flooded river (from up real close) and got lots of pictures. During the days we just toured all the museums and sights of the city. So much to see and do and York has so much to offer. We bought food and ate our dinners in the apartment (great oven). The apartment had everything we needed and was very modern and roomy.
I would strongly recommend that the apartment get wifi access as we had difficulty communicating with the housekeeper and owner during the time we were there.
Owner's Response: Hopefully the severity of the floods were a one off. This was the worst flood in the area for 200 years. The courtyard to the apartment has never been under water before. We're glad you enjoyed your stay despite the rain.
It is possible to get an Internet signal in the apartment if you have an iPad or iPhone and have your own contract. Most of our foreign visitors, who need Internet access, buy a pay as you go sim so that they are covered.

Great apartment, superb location.

If you have any plans on staying in York for a short or longer break, then look no further than this apartment. Situated looking over the River Ouse it could not be in a better place for the ideal holiday location. Just a short walk from the city centre it really is perfectly located and one that would suit all the family.

As for the apartment itself, it is beautifully furnished to a high standard and has all the requirements to make it the perfect home away from home. We certainly found it very hard to leave as we were so comfortable there. The views from the apartment of the river were priceless, we really could not think of a better place to be than this. Like all good things though it all ended to quickly but we are already planning our next visit. We would definitely stay there again as it was everything we hoped for and more.

A beautiful apartment with the perfect location

A beautiful apartment, wonderfully set out and a great base to explore York. The apartment had more than we needed - sometimes it was hard to drag ourselves away from the window seat in the lounge room, watching the world go by on the river outside, to get out and explore the city. But when we did go out, we realised what a fantastic location the apartment was in, and how quick it was to get to every site and explore York.
Even though we were so central, it was still a very quiet and peaceful stay.
Great communication with the owner in organising our stay and we were welcomed by the housekeeper who helped us settle in to a very clean and well maintained apartment.
Our 4 yr old may have quibbled about the small TV, but we found with all the books supplied and the view from the windows, we really didn't miss it at all!

A lovely place to stay.

Stylish apartment in great location

A wonderful week in York. The apartment is ideally located, comfortable, quiet with everything you need for a leisurely week away. There is a wonderful choice of CDs and books to help you relax in this very stylish apartment. It is a short walk away from all the tourist attractions in York, with views across the river towards the boats and city centre. The apartment is very handy for a couple of supermarkets too so it is easy to top up on the bread and milk.

The apartment was spotless and Margaret, the housekeeper, was very helpful and had the property ready for our arrival.

We certainly recommend staying here. It is ideal for couples, families and friends wanting a superb base in the centre of York, close to all the attractions, cafes and restaurants. We hope to come and stay again.

Great location and easy access to the city.

We loved our stay in this great apartment. So handy to the city centre just a quick stroll across the bridge and the city is yours to explore. We also couldn't get over how quiet it was it was lovely to sit at the windows and watch the boats on the river and also the water birds. Also easy access to the train which we using at the time on our UK adventure. Thanks Myrna it was excellent and also to Margaret for her very warm York welcome.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Girls Getaway, Tourists without a Car, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children
