Photos and Description of this 2 bedroom holiday cottage in Carlisle - Tarnside Cottage

A great location nr Hadrian's Wall, lovely views and super logfire.

Lovely log fire and quiet surroundings.. Why not ask us to arrange Champagne /Flowers for that special occasion.Happy memories are important to us all. If you love birds then a visit to Tarnside is a must, we have Woodpeckers,Nut Hatch ,Gold Finch , Siskin and lots more. The log fire can be used all year round for those chilly nights. Enjoy collecting wood for the fire and lazy evenings on the Patio watching breathtaking Sunsets over the Tarn.Red Squirrels are resident in the tarn Woodland. We accept dogs as long as they under good control you can take them into the fields for a run. We train racehorses on the farm, so come and see them trained by Maurice who rode Rubstic to victory in the 1979 Grand National. Enjoy Golf at Brampton Golf Course, 5mins from Tarnside. KINGSIZE duvets on our double beds ,very comfy!! WIFI and Sky tv.

Great value for money holiday.

GREAT PLACE TO UNWIND.: The spacious lounge has a log burning stove, colour FreeView TV, CD & Radio and has wonderful views over the tarn - an ideal place to relax and unwind. The kitchen is equipped with every modern convenience and the dining area has french doors leading onto the patio. There is a good supply of Games and Books, please feel free to bring your own DVDs /CDs. A feature spiral staircase leads to the double bedroom, whilst the second bedroom is on the ground floor. Both bedrooms are beautifully appointed. Cyclists and Walkers can access the Train very easily from Tarnside ,we have had a couple who have done the whole of Hadrian's Wall from Tarnside on their bikes in a week !!!

Bathroom with shower. We have bird tables outside the cottage and there are anumber of visitors to them including the Woodpecker family who live locally!!Red squirrels are residents at the Tarn where they are fed daily. Both cottages are decorated regularly and kept to a high standard of cleanliness.

A truly relaxing place to stay.: There is a church in Brampton, St Martins, which has windows designed by William Morris, may be of interest to some of you !! Go to www.visitcumbria.com website for more info. Wandering around Brampton is an unhurried pleasure.

, LOTS OF COMMENTS FROM OUR VISITORS ABOUT THECOMFY BEDS !

Both cottages have recently been refurbished with brand new kitchens and bathrooms ,see photos.

Another lovely stay!

  • 5 out of 5
Our 3rd visit to Tarnside Lodges, we first found this lovely place just over 11 years ago after we had got married and have now been able to get back twice in the past couple of years, don't want to leave and will keep coming back! It's a peaceful retreat to enjoy some time out. Looking over to the Tarn is lovely and being able to meet the horses and animals on the farm with a friendly atmosphere from everybody, nothing is too much trouble and you don't feel out of place. Our favourite place to relax.

Great short break

  • 5 out of 5
What a place perfect location to explore and the lodges surroundings are amazing with the views and the horses our children loved it. The lodge itself is well equipped and the log burner was just the icing on the cake for us, I would definitely recommend this place to family and friends and hopefully we will return again soon ourselves thanks Anne and Maurice.

escape to the country

  • 5 out of 5
We chose the lodge from the lovely pictures on the website, but when we arrived it was clear that the reality was even better. The location was idyllic(even if you are'nt a horse lover, although it would be hard not to appreciate the beauty of these animals) and the view from the patio would be hard to beat anywhere.
There was a nice bottle of wine awaiting us on arrival and we were happy to find that the lodge was clean, beautifully presented, and fitted out to an excellent standard.
We stayed for one week from 12th June and the weather was superb all week, but the log burner in the living room was a lovely bonus in the evenings.
Our hosts Ann & Maurice recommended a couple of local pub restaurants and they both provided great food and their eggs even came from Anns chickens!
We both live and work in the hectic and overcrowded south east and a week at the lodge was a perfect antidote to our normal lives. Highly recommended and we will be back! Tony and Denise

Using your Tarnside Lodge as a base, you can take day trips to Carlisle and Hadrian's Wall, the Scottish Borders, the Lake District and more locally the Eden Valley and North Pennine areas. The Gretna Gateway Outlet Centre is only 20 minutes away by car. The Cumbrian Antiques Centre in Brampton is a wonderful way of shopping for antiques within a unique surrounding. WiFi installed March 2012.

If you want a totally stress free holiday/break, the local walks around Tarnside are well worth experiencing. There are a number of good local eateries including the Blacksmith's Arms in Talkin. Whilst relaxing at Tarnside, you can walk to the Tarn . We have 100 acres of land surrounding the farm, our Gallops are all weather and if visitors would like to see the horses out working that's OK.

Other Activities: Hadrian's Wall

Please note our calendar only shows full when both lodges are booked.

Golf: BRAMPTON GOLF COURSE IS ONLY 2 MILES FROM TARNSIDE AND IS A SUPERB COURSE.
