Villa Chrysantos is located on a hill south of the capital Kerkyra (Corfu Town). It overlooks the beach villages and the sea and has a beautiful view as far as the mainland of Greece and Albania. The airport is at about 15 km distance.
The villa is to be found in an olive groove at the end of a small beton way, there is no other traffic at all.
Nearby are several villages, that are characteristic for the area and that are habited only by locals. In the neighbourhood there are no touristy activities. There is a garden of 2000m2: olive trees in front of the house and at the backyard is the swimming pool surrounded by trees, flowers and vine. From the pool the view is as stunning as from the terraces.
Surroundings: Corfu is a very special island. The greenest of all Greek islands due to the heavy rains that fall during the winter. Starting at the house are many possibilities to make long or short walks, through the woods or the mountains or to the seaside. The Corfu-trail, a marked path, passes near the house. In our book case we have detailed information about walks. Especially during spring and in autumn walking is beautiful and quiet. In the summer the early morning is the best hour for strolling around the walking tracks.
Around the house there is a garden of 2000 m2, so you don't really have to leave the property.
Corfu Town is a beautiful old Venetian city, Unesco World Heritage, with a beautiful boulevard, parks, Byzantine churches and Italian coloured houses, wonderful . There is an archaeological museum, a museum of Asian art, 2 Venetian Forts, Prince Philip's family estate, Sissi's Palace and more. Sports/golf: At 15 km, in the Ropavalley is a famous golf club. it has the reputation of being one of Europe's most beautiful courses. The Golf World Magazine wrote: 'The scenery is breathtaking.'
At the seaside, in tourist places you can of course find all sorts of activities: water-ski, sailing, diving, paragliding, biking. And there are many disco's, bars, internet café’s.
In the valley: horse riding, bicycling, quad driving. But the best are the beaches: small rocky beaches, large sandy ones, bays and dunes, always there is a terrace to sit and have a drink or delicious dinner with fresh seafood. In our book case we have detailed information for restaurants, excursions e.a.
Excursions: By boat to the surrounding islands, short trips to Mouse Island and daytrips to Paxos and Antipaxos
To the mainland by ferry: the mainland is beautiful and unspoiled. Ioanina is interesting to visit with its mountain lake, the deep caves, the palace of Ali Pasha and the small island with its fully painted Byzantine monasteries. A bit further you find the Vikos gorge, a very deep and narrow gorge with a river with many rapids, a 25 km walk for the profs.
Topic of the whole of Greece are the Meteora Monasteries (a 2 day trip), magic places high on almost inaccessible rocks. And a visit to the river of Acheiron, to walk and swim in the river through the gorges of the mythological 'river of the dead'. Another interesting excursion is the daytrip to Albania, to visit the UNESCO-site of Butrinth. An archaeological miracle of an old city with Greek, Byzantine and Venetian temples, churches, theaters and fortresses.
