5 bedroom, 220m2, 2 living room chalet in Portes Du Soleil - sleeps 12

Chalet Teolai (Cosy chalet in Gaelic) is a delightful, spacious and yet cosy chalet in the heart of the Portes du Soleil. It is spread over 220m2, perfect for keen skiers who like its peace and tranquility with easy access to one of the most extensive ski areas in the world.

Chalet Teolai offers excellent ski facilities in winter, and a wide range of nearby activities in the Spring, Summer and Autumn. Backing onto a meadow means spring mountain flowers and summer pastures are visible from your bedroom window, the patio and balcony. The chalet also features a wood-burning fire, central heating, cable TV, DVD and video and hi-speed Internet connection.

Large spacious chalet of 220m2. There are five bedrooms, 3 with double beds, 1 with 2 bunk beds (sleeps 4) and 1 with twin single beds. Two of the bedrooms connect to a balcony with spectacular views over the village and the mountains.

The chalet comprises large open plan lounge with seating round an open fire. Fully equipped spacious kitchen.

A TV room with international TV is on the top floor. 3 metre dining table seats 12+. Chalet has 2 bathrooms (baths/shower and toilet) and a 3rd toilet. Mostly refurbished in Feb '07.

Spread over 3 floors, total 220sqm, offering a traditional cosy chalet atmosphere. The whole property is comfortably furnished, with many new compatible fittings, imaginative interior design. and spacious living areas.

Ski lifts are close, magnificent mountain walks are on the doorstep, and the village is either a pleasant 10 mins walk along a racket track or along a winding side road amongst the chalets.

Skating, horse riding, mountain biking and rock climbing are all available in a totally peaceful traditionally Swiss rural environment.

In the summer a chair lift is open with a special attachment for bikes, meaning you can take the chair up, and whiz down, or follow the very extensive mountain bike trails.

We had a lovely 2 week stay in chalet teolai over christmas/New year. The chalet is very spacious and well equipped - even having toys, books and DVDs for the children. The chalet is very well located, a short walk to the village and skipiste and accessible in snow. It was a great bonus having a large garden, giving children space to play outside.

The chalet was very cold at the beginning and it took a couple of days to get warm, I think the heat from the ground floor is dispersed very quickly as it goes straight up to the top floor.



Owners note.......we have subsequently upgraded the heating system

Lovely chalet, clean, and ideally located, well equipped, and easy living. The TV being upstairs meant the kids could watch their movies whilst the adults chilled downstairs, ideal. We didn't think we could fit 13 round the table - but with the extensions up - it was perfect. Its an enormous table - you should make more of it.

Thanks for sending so much details about the chalet and the area pre-booking, it made it all easy to do. The agent were fine.

Its exactly as it looks in the photos, only we had less snow. Lovely place, see you again soon.

I have stayed in this chalet 5 times now,in winter and summer; caters for all needs with superb access to the some of the best pistes ive been on. Lovely local village with nearby shops and bakery, very children friendly and car not essential. Spacious chalet, with tv room and warm/cosy living area with a log fire. Would definitely recommend and we plan to have many more enjoyable holidays there.

It needs renovation

The chalet needs renovation. Poor information from the owner and very bad communication with him, is not normally take more than a week to answer an email.

I rented 4 sets of sheets and only had 3 at home.

The location is good and the region is great, but now I would book the chalet only if the price is very good.

Owner's Response: After 4 years of letting this is the first client who has complained. Obviously we try to make sure all the clients are happy, as recommendations are important to us.

This particular client changed the dates of his holiday not once but twice, then changed the linen order, found it difficult to pay (we offer 4 currencies), and then underpaid (we effectively waived the shortfall), and, gave him one night free as he changed dates after the (short) payment had been made.

Poor Information
When you enquire, we provide a long, detailed, and updated fact-sheet covering all aspects of the holiday based on the questions we normally get asked. This is provided in several languages. Despite this, the client entered into 31 email exchanges. Every single question was patiently answered even though the answers were in the factsheet

Bad Communication
The client made a payment unfortunately when I was out of the country and although I sent a one line email saying it would be just over a week before I could get back to him as I couldn't find the payment from my iphone. The reason of course, was he had short-paid.

Bedsheets
The client booked 3, then changed his mind to 4 sets of linen. I checked with the agent and we were informed the right number was left. Of course a mistake could be made. Perhaps the client was referring to whether we could provide linen for a cot, we had several emails but no firm order was made. Any problem with linen can be rectified immediately by contacting our local agent in the village who hands over the keys. In this case, for the first time ever, the linen cupboard was unlocked as the key was broken. However, I do apologise, it would be the first time we have had such a problem in 4 years.

Chalet needs renovation
Well this is very subjective, and no details of what needs renovation are provided. We do think one of the bathrooms is not as great as the rest of the chalet, and work starts to replace it shortly. We also think the sofa in the TV lounge is tired, and a replacement is delivered next month. Otherwise I urge you to look at the photos.

Obviously we don't like it when people complain. Holidays are so important to all of us, and we have a home we share, that we love going to. We hope you will too.

Morgins is a picturesque Swiss village, in one of the biggest ski areas of 650kms piste (Portes du Soleil) 12 linked resorts include Chatel, Avoriaz, Morzine, Les Gets. It nestles in Switzerland between Chatel and Avoriaz. Its North facing slopes are usually the first to open within the Portes du Soleil, and one of the last to close.

Morgins caters well for kids with a toboggan & nursery slopes in the village centre with progressive kids slopes at the top of the village. There is a jardin d’enfants, & garderie for children over the age of 2 months. Other facilities include snow walking, from the door ski fond and ice skating.

Within easy reach of the village is Château d'Oex, Gstaad, the castle at Aigle with a unique wine museum, and on the shores of Lake Geneva, the Château de Chillon at Montreux, the Olympic museum in Lausanne, several all year water parks. The nearest Hot thermal swimming pools (water is 34 degrees) are a 10 min drive away with many more within 30 minutes.
