The real Spain - a beautiful Alpujarran house with views to the Mediterranean

A traditional, beautifully renovated Alpujarran house offering a high standard of accommodation on 2 levels. Set at the top of Enix village, at the end of a quite street, there are exceptional 360 degree views of the village, the surrounding Gador mountains and beyond to the Med - just 25 minutes away.

In this beautiful village, this property offers a true Spanish Alpujarran experience, with superb walks from the front door; a mountain trail starts immediately behind the house! The village has 3 cafe/bar/restaurants, a shop/bakery, hairdressers and pharmacy. The beaches and shopping arcades of Aguadulce and Roquetas de Mar are 25 minutes away, with Envia Golf course and clay-pigeon shooting 15 minutes away. Almeria airport is 25 minutes away, and Granada with its amazing Alhambra is two and a half hours away. Sit on the roof terrace overlooking the valley and the Med beyond on a balmy evening with a good glass of wine, and watch your cares just fade away... because you deserve it..

Stunning views of the mountains and the Mediterran: The entire house was restored in 2004 and has retained many original features.

The kitchen has beamed ceilings, and is fully fitted for self catering with cooker, hob, fridge/freezer and hot water heater.

From the kitchen there is a glazed side door which leads to a ground floor patio area; ideal for alfresco dining. From here you can relax while looking over the roof tops of the village and beyond to the coast below.

The kitchen leads to a large, homely, dining room with a wood burning chimney.

A central staircase leads to a large Shower-room with high quality fittings and tiling, basin, wc, bidet and glazed shower. There is a further, compact bathroom on this floor which has a bath, shower attachment, WC, wash basin, heater and mirrored wall cabinet.

The Lounge on the first floor has a child-safe stair gate, polished wooden floors, satellite TV (Sky), and a CD/DVD player. A glazed door leads to the sun terrace, with stunning views of the mountains and the Med.

A wonderful sun terrace: The Master double bedroom has polished wooden floors, a radiator, large standing wardrobe, and rear window with shutters to the mountains behind.

A single bedroom has tiled floors, glazed rear door, radiator, fitted wardrobe.

A second double bedroom with a large sofa bed is on the ground floor and has a radiator, built-in wardrobe and standing floor lamp.

The 50m2 solarium/roof terrace (which has child-safe railings) is a perfect private outside area for sunbathing, eating or relaxing, with fantastic views to the coast and the surrounding mountains. From June to September, the temperatures make for long, balmy evenings.

The property has been thoughtfully restored with traditional materials, yet provides modern conveniences such as oil central heating and lots of outside spaces for dining or relaxation.

It is one of the best village houses for rental in this area and comes with parking immediately in front of the house.

CHARMING RELAXING ANDALUCIAN VILLAGE HOUSE

We had a most relaxing week at "Casa Flossie" in the village of Enix, Almeria.
The house was charming and typically Andalucian. It was very clean with a lovely atmosphere.
We were met by the caretaker, who lives in the village and is English, he speaks great Spanish and gave us some good information.
The village has three bars and a restaurant. The bar/restaurant Almeria is only open until 7pm, but at weekend Spanish people come from far and wide to eat the "mountain cuisine" Rabbit and Chicken done in garlic are the mainstays with a very nice paella which we had as a takeaway one day.
The view from the roof terrace, which is directly outside the living room, is outstanding and enjoyable evenings were spent there with a glass of wine or two.
The village is very quiet and traditional with a lovely square containing the 16th century church, but good company could be found in the bar in the square or the bar Avelina behind the church, where tapas and meals were good.
In the house itsself, there were plenty of towels and linen with all the trappings of home, including English satellite telly if you want it.
Special mention should go to our Spanish neighbours who always acknowledged us with a "buenas dias or hola".
There is a small shop in the village which is open a few hours a day, where you can get fresh bread and cakes. Bigger shopping is just down the hill (about 15 mins) where there are big supermarkets.
The beach at Aguadulce was a delight, it takes about 20 mins to get there and there are little beach bars and a harbour there. My favourite bit of the holiday was swimming in the sea and then going for a tapas or two in the bar.
All in all it was a Spanish experience that we will be sure to repeat and much better than staying in a hotel. Plenty of excuses to practice your Spanish.
I would recommend this holiday to those looking for a relaxing and authentic Spanish break, with a coast that has not seen mass-tourism nearby.

P.S........If you like walking or jogging, it´s a stunning place to do either.

As well as Granada, the beautiful cities of Cordoba, Seville and Cadiz are also a relatively short and comfortable train ride (2-3 hours), from nearby Almeria City.

Notes:
The property has a fantastic aspect overlooking the whole village and down the valley to the Mediterranean, however the short incline (about 20 yards) up to the house from the main street would make it unsuitable for wheelchairs. The nearby La Envia Golf & Country Club runs the length of a valley with the surrounding mountains shielding the course from any wind – creating superb golfing conditions. The 18 hole par 71 course stretches over more than 5,700 metres of undulating terrain, with numerous bunkers, water features and carefully positioned greens to present the golfer with an interesting test of their skill and ability. English speaking PGA Professionals Jose Manuel Ruiz Moreno and Juan Antonio Ruiz Moreno run the La Envia Golf Academy. One-to-One classes, and both adult and children´s group classes are available throughout the year.
