6 bedrooms and four bathrooms - sleeps 12 in comfort

Le Vieux Murier comprises two buildings, an old stone built former farmhouse and its dairy, which together enclose a delightful private courtyard, perfect for dining under a canopy of vines. An arched portico gives access to the garden and can be closed to prevent small children gaining access to the pool when unsupervised. Both buildings are full of character and have been carefully restored to offer great charm and a high standard of comfort with all modern amenities. Sleeping up to twelve people with ample space and comfort Le Vieux Murier is ideal for large family gatherings - or for 2/3 families sharing a holiday.

The House: An open plan area some 40ft in length, kitchen (fridge, dishwasher, hob, oven) to one end with seating beyond the staircase which gives access to the first floor. On the first floor there is the main bedroom (20ft x 13ft) and landing - with floor length windows and bathroom.

Two bedrooms occupy the entire upper floor of the house, accessed from the first floor landing. The old tiled staircase enters into the first room (twin beds), beyond which is the second bedroom, again with twin beds. this second bedroom has a bathroom (shower, WC, basin).

The Dairy: From the courtyard you enter the kitchen (which also has a dining table). The sitting room can be entered from the kitchen or directly from the courtyard. Tiled stairs at the rear of the kitchen go to the first floor, where all bedrooms have high and sloping ceilings. The small landing gives access to the large double bedroom (own bathroom)- which also has direct access to the courtyard via its own external stone steps. Also accessed from the first floor landing is a twin bedded room. A door from this bedroom gives entry to a large bathroom. Through this bathroom is a further spacious double bedroom - which again can be accessed directly from the courtyard via its own external steps thus avoiding the need to walk through the twin bedded room.

The Courtyard: A dining table for 12, with further seating under the canopy of vines.

There is an additional WC in the courtyard and the laundry room, with further fridge and deep freeze, washing machine and drier is also accessed from the courtyard. The layout has very much evolved from a need to work within the framework of a very old property and from a wish to retain the charm of that property.

All the bedrooms are spacious, light and airy.

There is a travel cot/playpen, further cot and a high chair.

PERFECT PROVENCAL GETAWAY

We have been visiting Le Vieux Murier in Provence for years and I can honestly say that it has always been absolutely perfect.

It offers the best experiences of Provence, pretty local villages with markets full of wonderful food (you can buy whole meals if you don't want to cook) and other Provencal goodies from knives to tablecloths. There are several local wine makers and you can buy very good wine for not very much money. It is close enough to the coast to be able to visit St. Tropez and the rest of the Riviera and there is the Gorge du Verdun which is fantastic to visit but really once in the house you really are pushed to want to go out that much.

It is a beautiful old dairy set round a courtyard with steps down from two of the main bedrooms and the courtyard is filled with pots of flowers and herbs, shade is provided by trained grape vines overhead and a trickling water feature make a cool retreat even in the height of summer.

There is a huge kitchen table in the (very well equipped - no arriving to find no salt, oil, flour, coffee, tea etc.) kitchen but it is much nicer to eat outside by fairy lights at the equally big courtyard table where there is also a really good barbeque.

Outside There is a pool which is slightly salted rather than chlorine and another little pond with a seat under arches with climbing roses over them to give shade. It is all surrounded by greenery and there are lots of loungers with cushions, umbrellas and toys for the kids.

For those of you with kids this is a great place to visit because you can keep them safe in the courtyard and know they can't wander off to the pool without supervision and they LOVE the swmming pool - hours of peace reading while they muck about in the water! Also, if desperate there is a TV which gets British digital so you can get Cbeebies if necessary...) and there is a great water park in Frejus for a day out.

It is a beautiful, relaxing, easy place to be to recharge your batteries. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend to anyone as a place to go on holiday.

PERFECT PROVENCAL HIDEAWAY

We've been coming to Le Vieux Murier for almost as long as it's been welcoming guests seeking the perfect Provencal hideaway.

With local markets and vineyards selling the best of all that southern France has to offer I can't think of anywhere we'd rather be to while away long evenings eating and drinking with friends and family.

And when all that lying around gets too much nothing beats hurtling around the French countryside on the resident motocyclettes sampling rose and eating cheese before jumping into he pool to cool off!

THERE CANNOT BE MANY BETTER RENTALS IN THIS AREA!

Having just returned from our seventh consecutive summer holiday in Le Vieux Murier, I have no hesitation in recommending it to those who are looking for a base from which to explore the local area, simply relax in comfort; or both.
Set in typically Provencale countryside, adjoining fields of vines, the propery is exceptionally well equipped, and provides everything necessary to ensure that whether entertaining friends or simply living a family life the minimum time is spent on domestic chores.
The regularly-maintained swimming pool is an irresistible attraction, and there are sufficient loungers and sunshades even if all the bedrooms are occupied. The secluded garden is a delight.
The town of Lorgues is about two kilometres away, and offers a number of restaurants and cafes, as well as postal and banking facilities. English newspapers are available every day, and on Tuesdays there is a colourful market, which is both a spectacle and a source of everything that you could, or could not, possibly want.
Nice and St. tropez on the Mediterranean coast are little more than an hour away by car, and nearer to home there are six or more typically Provencale towns, each having a weekly market and offering shops and restaurants.
For those wishing to enjoy walking in the cool of the evening, or on overcast days, there are a number of routes based on the property. An old railway line provides some level walking, and the nearby hills offer more energetic exercise.
Overall it is hard to imagine a better holiday base, whatever your leisure preferences, and I have already introduced a number of my friends and relations to Le Vieux Murier; all have been delighted by the experience.

The house is situated in the hamlet of Les Salettes, just two miles from the picturesque medieval town of Lorgues and within easy reach of St Tropez and the beaches of the Med. Lorgues is a bustling town throughout the year, with a market occupying all the main street on a Tuesday morning. There is a selection of small shops plus a handful of restaurants and bars. There are also two supermarkets and a wine co-op.
