HUGE BEACHFRONT studio in the heart of La Cala de Mijas. Private beach access

This well-equipped BEACHFRONT home from home is bigger than most one bedroom apartments. It has a large enclosed terrace with MAGNIFICENT SEA & BEACH VIEWS, a large living area, a separate well equipped kitchen. and a modern shower room. It easily sleeps 3, the beds are custom made and comfortable, and an additional cot is available. It contains dishwasher, washing machine, satellite TV, DVD player and DVDs, WiFi, selection of books, hairdryer and safe. It is 7th floor, with three lifts and is very secure with entry phone. The gardens are private and well maintained. There is a large swimming pool and we also have our own garden furniture there (sunbeds, sun chairs and deck chairs) for your use. EVERYTHING YOU NEED FOR AN ENJOYABLE STAY. The garden gate gives you private access directly to the beach which has EU Blue Flag Status for being the cleanest and best along this coast. Ideal for holiday rental - the setting is very tranquil but you are only a short walk to the village centre.

An ideal base whatever type of holiday you want ..: If you are looking for a place with lots of activities then it is all here on your doorstep - golf, tennis, horse riding, watersports, walking, cycling, bowls etc. This is a lovely stretch of coast with beautiful beaches, great bars, wonderful shops (eg Puerto Banus) and lots to do, whatever your requirements.

Of course, you may just prefer to relax by the wonderful swimming pool and listen to the sound of the waves lapping along the shore!!!

We have been living in Spain since 2003 and love this area. It offers beautiful beaches, lovely restaurants and bars and a very relaxed way of life. We loved the apartment and its views from the first time we saw it. It offers a great base to stay in a beautiful and traditional Spanish village with lots of amenities on your doorstep. Our holiday at Butiplaya

I know it has taken me a while to send you this message but returning to work after a week takes a while to catch up to.
I just wanted to thank you for allowing us to rent your studio apartment in Cala de Mijas. The location was amazing and the studio was really well equipted, we did not miss anything from home. I love photography and was able to take some really nice pictures of sunrises from the bay windows, I shall send you some when I have a chance to download them into my computer.
What we really enjoyed the most was the quietness, we were very surprised to see that there weren't that many people on the beach and in the building at this time of year ( Easter is suppossed to be peak season ). If I new I was going to have that week next year I would reserve it right way :-))!
Anyways, just a "short" message to thank you both.

Wonderful Place To Stay

Thank you Sue and Simon for letting me stay at your wonderful apartment for the month of May.
I found the space to be clean, welcoming, well equipped, and in a great location. The view from the balcony windows is fantastic.
It was very easy to get around to other towns on the Costa del Sol via the bus system and there was a good selection of day trips as well. The town itself was welcoming and the only draw back to the apartment location is how close it is the bakery!!
I have already recommended it to family and friends as a place to check out.

I can't wait to come for another visit!

A fantastic place ! Location, facilities brilliant

Our second visit to this excellent, spacious studio apartment which overlooks the beach - a stunning vista! Well tended , private gardens with a large child friendly pool leads DIRECTLY onto a lovely, sandy beach. Hard to find this I'd wager, just the job !

The apartment has everything you need for a relaxing holiday. Bags of room, a library of books and UK TV to boot.

The village/town of La Cala is typical Spanish but caters well for the discerning UK visitor. A plethora of quality, friendly restaurants and bars abound and you won't get ripped off, great value prices.

We enjoyed our second visit so much that we have booked already for next year. Not a bad recommendation I'd say !

Sometimes when you stay at a great apartment, it's tempting not to review it because if you give it a glowing review then it might not be available when you want to come again. However to do that would be selfish and ungrateful. And I hope I am neither.
Sue and Simon's apartment at Butiplaya was the best apartment I've stayed at in La Cala de Mijas. It was clean with all the equipment you could possibly need, barring maybe a DVD player, but that would be to carp. Everything was clean. There was plenty of linen and kitchen and other equipment. What was equally important there were clear instructions for everything. My one slight disappointment was that there was no balcony - my misunderstanding entirely - but the big windows opened wide so that was virtually as good.
Sue and Simon have also gone to a great deal of trouble in providing information about La Cala and the area. As to the situation of the aparment itself, you could hardly do better. The building, clean and well cared for. Right on the beach with a splendid pool in a garden then a small gate directly on to the beach. Lots of local Spanish shops including a recommended patisserie. There's even a little supermarket on the doorstep and loads of bars and restaurants. Also it has a more Spanish feel to it than the centre of the town.
Sue and Simon obviously treat this apartment as though it was their home - that's what it feels like. You feel that they are treating you like a guest - nothing is shoddy, everything is as it should be. They even have arrangements in place should you want transport from the airport.
I loved it. I hope it's available when I want to come out again.

It's in a lovely part of La Cala and very unspoilt even though it is on the beach and so close to the centre of the village. Like most of the properties in the building, the balcony was enclosed years ago to give more living space, but with the windows open it is a lovely airy spot to sit in our comfy armchairs and watch the beach activity. And we have sun chairs/beds in the garden/pool area for our guests' exclusive use and it's a lovely private spot. There actually is a DVD player there so I'm not too sure what happened about that but I will show you next time and we also have a few films in there too, so good for the occasional night in. Well, thanks very much again. We always appreciate people taking the time to review our holiday home and we hope to see you again soon.

Beyond Our Expectations !!!

From the write-up and reviews on line it seemed exactly what we were looking for and we hoped this would be the case.....and it was.....and even better than that!!!

We "did our own thing" from Malaga airport, by train and a cab from Fuengerola and it was so easy.... and cheap !!! We were met by Sue who showed us around her beautiful, very large, studio apartment, gave us all the basic information we needed and then left us to it.

First things that struck us were how spotlessly clean and tastefully decorated it was. Absolutely everything you could possibly need for a self catering holiday was provided - even down to a shopping trolley to help us with supermarket trips. The views from the apartment were amazing, the location ideal and loads of information tucked away in drawers and on shelves helped us find our way around.

We were taking a much needed rest and so didn't really want to do a great deal. The location - straight out of the garden gate and onto the lovely sandy beach, with a beach bar /restaurant (Los Moreno) and plenty of sunbeds just yards away, made this totally possible. We actually ended up having our main meal here almost every day - good quality, reasonably priced menu - something to suit all tastes......a delicious paella........and the guys who ran it were so lovely. We were great friends by the end of the week !!! The beach is very clean and safe for swimming.

The main town with all the shops and restaurants is a very short walk away. So many places to eat you were spoiled for choice, but we elected to spend our evenings in the apartment having bought in stocks from one of two excellent supermarkets - ham, cheese, pate, salad and lovely freshly baked bread....accompanied by bottles of excellent, unbelievably cheap wine!!

We ventured out twice.....once to the Wednesday market which was much better than many others we have visited. Our second trip was to Mijas village in the hills which very easy to get to - a bus to Fuengerola and a second bus up to the village. A visit we were very glad we made - beautiful place with stunning views.

This was probably the most relaxing and enjoyable self catering holiday we have ever experienced and we loved everything about it. We will definitely be returning next year and would thoroughly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing break, where you can do a lot or a little - whichever suits - in a lovely much larger than average studio apartment in a perfect location.

The apartment is on the beachfront at Butiplaya, which is a few minutes walk from the centre of La Cala (either along the beach or the traditional Spanish streets). It is a lively fishing village that retains much of its culture. It has a wide range of Spanish/International shops and bars and a very good twice weekly market. The apartment has a private and tranquil setting and there are some good bars/restaurants from value and cheap to special night out, beach bars and a lovely bakery in the immediate area. Local hotel offers good entertainment to non-residents. La Cala is located between Fuengirola and Marbella. These and Puerto Banus, Riviera del Sol, Torremolinos, Malaga, Benalmadena, Mijas Pueblo etc are all less than half an hour's drive. Seville, Granada, Ronda etc are easy day trips.

No need to hire a car (although there is plenty of parking if you do). The bus service is very good, as are the taxis, both are very reasonably priced. We can arrange an airport transfer.

Other Activities: Skiing is available at Sierra Nevada during winter months - around 2 hours drive

  • Very comfortable full sized beds which have been custom made to go up into the wall if you require or there is lots of room if you prefer to leave them down. We change bed linen and towels weekly. There is lots of storage space/wardrobes etc. This is an extremely large and bright studio apartment. We ask for a maximum of three people staying please.
