STYLISH MOUNTAIN SIDE 2 BED APARTMENT IN PORT SOLLER

Photos and Description of this 2 bedroom holiday apartment in Port de Soller

2 Double bedrooms, 1 large bathroom, sleeps 4/6, floor area 80m2

This is a spacious, newly refurbished and well maintained apartment with private balcony/terrace and shared outdoor pool. Situated in a small hillside development at the foothills of the Tramuntana mountains. It has very easy access from the road with reserved parking. The shared pool is large and surrounded by mountainside gardens, sun loungers and chairs. There is a poolside shower for your convenience. The apartment is fully equiped and there are ample wardrobes and storage. Please feel free to ask any further questions re faciilites.

From the terrace you can enjoy the morning sun and cooler evenings. There are fans and heaters in every room depending on the season. There are many small supermarkets down by the port and a daily market in Soller. The beach is very child friendly.

Nearby is the Nautilus bar from where you can see the most spectacular sun set whilst sipping your 'sun downer'. A ten minute walk and you are in the pedestrianised port area - a haven for children - where there are a multitude of sea food restaurants and also the normal Spanish fare. You can get a boat from here to otherwise inaccessible beaches, or take the famous San Francisco like tram to the Moorish inland town of Soller (about 5 - 10 minutes). In Soller there is a daily indoor market and many fashion shops. You can also hire cycles here, buy excellent mountaineering shoes and equipment. There is a train which takes a spectacular route through the mountains to Palma. Travel by car to Palma is about 35 minutes and the famous villages of Deia, Fornalutx, Valdemossa and Biniaraitx are all short drives away. The nearest golf course is the famous and excellent San Termens, about 20 minutes drive.

Guestbook comments from the owner
Just wanted to let you know that we had a superb time at your apartment. The weather was kind with rain occurring on only one of the days [and that was overnight!]. The apartment was really lovely, spacious, comfortable, well equipped and a real home from home. We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay and we throughly enjoyed our time at Porto Soller.

We would certainly like to visit again sometime in the future.

Lovely apartment to enjoy Port Soller

  • 4 out of 5
We took advantage of the excellent bus system to get to Port Soller and would recommend a taxi for the final stage uphill to the apartment.

Everything was clean and tidy with lovely views over the mountains. The morning sun is especially pleasant to sit on the balcony and look forward to the day ahead. We were only on a short break and chose to eat out including the Nautilus with its' beautiful sunset.

The 10 minute stroll down into the Port is very pleasant but quite hard work on the way back. The Port itself was relatively quiet and we hired some bikes to explore further afield. There is lots of do and we didn't have time to relax again making use of the bus to go to Palma and return on the train.

All in all we wished we could have stayed longer and next time would like to make use of the lovely pool that is of a good size and well positioned for sunny days.

We loved it

  • 4 out of 5
Overall the property met our expectations. We found it clean, homely and comfortable. The rooms are spaciouse and we found the kitchen adequate. The negative comments I have are all of a minor nature and did not detract from what was a super holiday:
The beds in the second bedroom had been joined together, as requested, to make one large bed, but it had two single mattreses, meaning, in reality, it still contained two single beds.
It took us a little time to work out how the cooker and hobs operated - some English instructions would have helped.
We stayed in the appartment for two weeks, and expected it to be serviced at the beginning of the second week (Saturday). However, it was serviced on Tuesday of the second week. No problem, but if we'd known the day we would have prepared the appartment for cleaning etc.
We did not have a car and found it easy to get around using public transport.
The walk into the Port did take about ten minutes, as described. However, the walk back up the steep hill took a little longer. We are four reasonably fit people who do quite a lot of walking, so the walk back to the appartment was not a problem for us. However, I suggest it would not be appropriate for anyone elderly or unfit (unless they use a car).
The Soller valley is a beautiful area for walking. We ate in most nights, enjoying the appartment and the views from the Balcony.
We were very pleased with the appartment and most of what we saw in Mallorca. The appartment offers good value for money, and, with one or two very minor reservations, we would recommend it to a friend or relative.

Clean and tidy but in need of some TLC

  • 3 out of 5
We enjoyed our stay in Port Soller. It is a lovely resort and we'd recommend it to anyone. It is served by a good bus service which means you can explore the island without the need for a car. The market in Soller town was a highlight. The tram costs 5 euros each person each way which can make it an expensive way to travel between the town and Port. Recommend using the bus or local taxis.

The apartment was clean, tidy and reasonably comfortable. The living room, main bedroom and bathroom are quite spacious but the kitchen is very small indeed. Not sure how recently it was refurbished but there were a number of general maintenance issues.

One of the bedroom fans did not work. The large fan in the living room was rusty and unsightly. One of the plug sockets in the main bedroom was broken. There were several loose floor tiles in the living room and some tiles on the kitchen splashback were coming away from the wall and the kitchen sink plug did not work. The shower fixing came away from the wall but we managed to temporarily secure it. The bath could do with re-enameling.

There were only 3 patio chairs provided and the 'welcome' folder had a lot of seemingly old and out of date information in it.

The apartment is situated on quite a steep road which leads down to the Port, which has a great selection of shops and supermarkets.

There are a number of steps leading down to the apartment from the road and the only access to the pool is through a nearby gate and down several more flights of steps. The pool was clean and well maintained and there were sunbeds available for use, but no parasols.

Owner's Response: Thank you for bringing these minor repairs to our attention. They could have been dealt with immediately had we been notified whilst staying in the apartment. We could have sent someone round straight away to fix the socket and shower and deal with any small repairs necessary. The cleaner normally keeps the plug for the sink in the cupboard under the sink along with a washbasin.

We are aware of the loose tiles and in May they were not broken or dangerous. They are scheduled for repair after the season. When an apartment is as popular as this one, work such as this can only be undertaken out of season and we are sorry if this caused you distress. The apartment was last re-furbished in March and all was okay then, Things obviously do get damaged/break during a very busy holiday season.

Open plan living space with kitchen off is very common to apartments in Port de Soller.

The photos of the apartment clearly show 3 chairs on the balcony, the position of the pool and state the distance of the apartment from the road. There are only about 10/11 steps to the front door. The welcome folder was edited down by one of my co-owners in April but guests do love to add more leaflets to it, regardless! Part of the charm of area that it is not overly touristic and therefore leaflets are not re-printed/updated that often!

On the Home Away web site we do say that a car is a good idea although not necesssary. Using the tram daily as a means of transport to go to Soller is obviously going to be expensive but there are many supermarkets and food shops in Port de Soller for those who may not wish to rent a car.

I am glad that despite these minor niggles you seem still to have enjoyed your stay in Port de Soller. We have many letters from previous holiday makers complimenting us on the style, comfort and position of the apartment.

Majorca in November

  • 4 out of 5
We (couple in early fifties) had a great time here for a week in November.
The weather was still warm, so we could eat breakfast outside every morning on the terrace - just the time of day it catches the late autumn sun.
We ate out, locally and away - but we also bought great fish from the town ('though the lady speaks not a word of English).
We travelled on the local buses - which offer a pretty good service - and the guide books in the apartment were really useful.
A large part of the town was closed up for the winter - as in any seaside town - but Soller itself (a 5 minute bus ride, 20 minutes on the tram, or hours walk over the mountain path) is still full of local life.
Best bit: squeeezing virtually free oranges for breakfast on the terrace looking over the mountains
Worst bit: the building work behind - though it was clearly going to be done by Christmas
Recommendations: enjoy the views at Valdemosa and eat at the pizzeria there, out of town opposite where the coaches park (but have their Spanish specials, not the pizzas). Visit Sineu for the weekly market on a Wednesday. Walk the hills to Soller and the pretty villages beyond. Have a day in medieval Palma - Barcelona without the street crime.
Majorca in November - much recommended.

Excellent! Highly recommend.

  • 5 out of 5
We just had a wonderful half-term break in the apartment. The weather and the sun shone out over the valley - the view from the apartment - fabulous!

Everythng was clean and ready when we arrived. Although we were warned that the building work behind was not quite fiinished, it was no problem. The workmen were there, they were polite and helpful and swept down the road every night. It was not noisy during our stay.

We found the apartment a very good base for our holiday. Since we had our daughters with us we had to find entertainment for them, all the time! After their swim in the pool we went to many of the nearby villages, Fornalutx, Deia, Valdamossa and over the mountains to Polensa! Not a drive for the faint hearted but very, very beautiful. We also walked up the mountain behind us - not too hard a walk but again stunning.

The shopping in Soller itself was very good and whilst my husband was shopping in the market we girls bought several pairs of shoes! The girls loved the tram and insisted on coming back on it! We would definitely recommend this holiday home.

apartment in Port Soller.

  • 5 out of 5
I stayed at the apartment for 2 weeks in May last year. It was delightful. Each morning started with a leisurely walk to the village shops to collect oranges for breakfast and to buy bread.
The area is really beautiful and the bars and restaurants are excellent.
We had a car so could travel around. I dont like too much movement so it was wonderful to visit lovely towns and beaches in a short time.
I have recommended the apartment to my family and friends and look forward to returning, if possible, later this year. Patricia.

Puerto de Soller, with its perfect semi-circular bay, is one of the few harbours on the North coast of Mallorca. The pedestrianised and traffic free harbour area with it's many cafes is a safe and enjoyable place to sit with your coffee or cocktail and people watch whilst looking out to sea. The child friendly beaches and calm sea also make it a relaxing venue for both parent and child. There are various carnivals throughout the year, some very specific to the area. The tram to Soller town runs frequently and is both fun and attractive. It is also very convenient! In Soller there is a daily covered market and a street market on Saturday. There are fashion shops and a museum with an excellent Miro collection. The area is popular with cyclists. Cycles can be hired in Soller. If you are a walker you will love exploring. If you want to look further afield take a car or a boat......Deia known for celebrites, fish & crystal clear water, Fornalutx, Valdemossa, Binairaitx...........
