There are few places left in the world to experience a lakefront cottage location so consistently beautiful, from year to year, for as long as I have been familiar with Lake Chaffee - dating back to 1995. This cottage is in keeping with the serenity and natural beauty of its surroundings, and the owners have done a superb job of providing every comfort, yet still allowing for casual and cordial gatherings. A lovely place to recharge the spirit and revisit peaceful, reflective moments.
We rented this house for three years and loved it. The cottage is adorable and has everything you could want. Denise is very helpful and even supplied a blow-up mattress for my grand-daughters. The lake is clean and has a gradual incline which makes it perfect for children. Although the road is a main thoroughfare it isn't heavily used and the package store across the street is hidden behind a stand of evergreens. The house was supplied with brochures and information on restaurants, attractions, and grocery and drug stores in the area. How anyone could be dissatisfied with this lovely home amazes me.
Nice place. Cottage was clean and well maintained. Scenery was beautiful. Lots of amenities.
I too had the pleasure staying at this beautiful cottage. My husband and I were celebrating our belated honeymoon and we couldn’t have picked a more perfect place to stay.
It was like paradise. I woke up most mornings around 6:30 and spent an hour or so, on the patio reading my bible, having my one on one time with the Lord. There were a few mornings my husband and I got up at 4:30 to go fishing. To see a sunrise on the lake is breathtaking. I felt as if I walked into one of Gods paintings, one of His masterpieces. How many people get to do that with the one they love? I thought there was nothing more beautiful than a sunrise on the lake but I was wrong. The sunsets, the bright colors and reflections on the water were truly AMAZING
The fishing and swimming was a lot of fun. I not only got to swim in the lake but I swam across the lake to the other side, then along the back side and then back to our dock. About a mile and a half in 58 min. Loving every minute in or on the water
The cottage may be on the main road and you may have traffic but I have to be honest with you.
I DIDN’T HEAR IT!!!!
You have two choices; you can harp on the traffic and let it ruin your vacation. OR you can get lost in the beauty of the cottage, the lake and the people on the lake. I guess that depends on what kind of person you are. A positive one or negative one. Do you see your glass half full or half empty?
As for my husband and I, we’re not only looking forward to coming back, but we would recommend this cottage to anyone.
I didn’t have the pleasure of meeting the owner in person but I did speak with her many times on the phone and through email. She made sure we had all the information we needed for our stay at the cottage like; the keys, Wi-Fi, not only a list of the grocery stores and restaurants but directions to them. Where the life vests were, the telephone number to the cottage as well as her number. In my opinion she went above and beyond the call of being a landlord to make sure our stay was perfect and all I can say is Thank You
This is a wonderful location being close by to the Storrs CT UCONN Campus, the Publick House, and Sturbridge Village. I spent a couple nights here with friends and it was the most serene and inviting place to be. Whether you're swimming in the lake during Summer, or walking around it in the Fall, or fishing for fun, this is the place to be. Close by, but so far away!
I live in the Hartford area and I had the pleasure of renting this cottage. I loved every minute of this beautifully decorated retreat right on the water. I went for a few canoe trips and felt like I was in New Hampshire. I went for long walks around the lake. The outdoor fireplace was perfect for making s'mores at night.
It felt like I was miles away from home. The best part was not having to drive for hours to get back to reality.
