Spacious Longere and Cottage sleeps up to 8 or 12

The property is situated in a small rural hamlet and near to a working farm. There is off road parking and a large garden area and patio. The hamlet of Treveran is 1km from the historic town of Josselin in the Morbihan region of France. Josselin situated on the Nantes Brest Canal is famous for its magnificent castle and medieval architecture.

The property consists of a longere and cottage in an L shape. Peaceful but not isolated the house is centrally situated and an ideal base from which to explore the Morbihan region of Brittany. The house is a short drive from a very popular lake with manmade beaches. The accommodation is flexible and suits small or larger groups of up to twelve. The price for the longere is based on two adults for one week with an extra charge for each adult and child. The longere and cottage combined sleeps 12 plus smaller children. The longere has a level access downstairs and is suitable for people with mobility problems. Wireless internet access is available.

About Les Moineaux: The property is approximately 300 years old and contructed of traditional Breton stone. The smaller cottage was renovated 20 years ago and the larger longere/farmhouse 4 years ago. The downstairs of the longere has been thoughtfully renovated to accommodate disabled access throughout with wide doors and ramped floor where appropriate. There is a double downstairs bedroom with level access shower and a manual shower chair. The longere is well insulated and there are wall heaters in all the rooms and a large wood burner in the living area. The longere has a large patio and barbecue and a grassy area. There is off road parking at the front of the house.

The property is situated in a peaceful but not isolated hamlet within easy reach of Josselin. For walkers there is plenty to explore around the house and the canal is easily accessible on foot. It is possible to hire bikes in the main season. The canal paths are well maintained and suitable and accessible for wheelchair users.

Things to do: Josselin has many cafes and restaurants and it is possible to climb the bell tower of the church for a great view of the area. The famous castle has guided tours with some tours in English. There are accessible level walks by the canal and it is possible to hire a boat or cycles in Josselin. The nearest beach is approximately one hour's drive depending on traffic and ten minutes drive from the house is a large lake with man made beaches. The water in the lake is ideal for smaller children as it is usually warm and the lake is popular with French tourists and usually quite lively on a summer's evening. There are lots of activities and the visitors book is full of useful suggestions. There is a tourist information in Josselin. I have made a note of the walks around the cottage and will send a PDF of walks and things to do in the area.

The longere has 4 bedrooms and sleeps 8 adults plus children. There is a spacious living room / dining area with a large wood burner. The house has been thoughtfully renovated to accommodate people with mobility problems and the downstairs has level access throughout with wide doors. The downstairs bedroom has a level access shower. There is a large patio and garden area at the back of the house and off road parking at the front of the house. The garden area is approximately an acre in total. The house has wireless internet broadband. The accommodation is very flexible and suits couples as well as larger groups (up to 12 with the cottage), so the price is based on two people staying at the house for one week with an extra charge per adult and child. The house is centrally situated to explore the region and provides an ideal setting for larger groups of family and friends. It is a fantastic location to meet and enjoy company but is spacious enough to find privacy when needed.

Josselin is an historical town of character situated on the Nantes Brest Canal. From this central location it is possible to enjoy the varied attractions the region has to offer. Josselin is famous for its magnificent château situated by the canal and beautiful town centre with medieval 17th century timber framed buildings. The Saturday morning market brings the otherwise sleepy town to life and there are many open air cafes and restaurants. A climb up the bell tower of the Basilica will afford you a view of the whole town and surrounding area. Situated inland in the Morbihan region where the roads are quiet for exploring the countryside and neighbouring towns but still within easy reach of Carnac and Quiberron for fantastic beaches.

Ploermel and Pontivy also have interesting attractions and a great variety of shops.Ten minutes drive from the house is the Lac au Duc which is a large lake with man made beaches,water activities, walks and also a golf course. This is very popular for families with younger children as the water tends to be warmer than the sea and there are no big waves.

There are walks around the house and it is possible to easily walk down to the canal and into Josselin. I have made a PDF describing different local walks and there are local maps in the house for those wanting to venture further on foot. It is possible to hire bikes in Josselin in the main season and to hire a boat for the canal.

The visitors book (Livre D'OR - book of gold) is full of really good suggestions of what to do and where to visit. Most people seem to say they did not have enough time to see and do everything they planned.

  • Prices are based on two people staying in the longere. Prices include gas, electric, linen, towels and logs for the woodburner and wireless internet broadband. A deposit of 15% is required to secure the booking.

  • Three of the bedrooms have a shower room with toilet en suite. The smaller bedroom is situated next to the main bathroom which has a bath and shower cubicle. The downstairs shower room has a roomy level access with a manual shower chair.

FABULOUS !!!!!

After leaving the cold miserable North of England, this Farmhouse was just wonderful to relax in after a long, long drive. The log fire blazing and the big snuggly sofa's and arm chairs were just to die for. We were met by the owners and you couldn't want for nicer people. I was like a child in a sweet shop whilst being shown around. This farmhouse has been renovated to the highest of standards. All of the rooms are HUGE and all furnished just perfect. The bedrooms are amazing with en-suite too, the snuggly sitting room with open plan kitchen was great when cooking - it had everything you needed. The internet was brilliant for us also (running a business whilst on hols), we were able to make FREE calls to the UK (not mobile) but to phone home was a treat, never had that in a cottage before. The whole house was cleaned impeccably - credit to the lovely caretaker Lin. My Mother sadly disabled, said the facilities provided were just perfect everything was very well thought of. We were able to take our dogs into this wonderful home and the walks around the area were great for them (when I could pull them away from the fire). Even though the house is huge it takes no time at all to warm it up it's so, so comfy. The area has lots of great supermarkets, patisseries (to die for) and local markets for all your fresh produce. Our favourite restaurant 'Creperie Mael Trech' in Malestroit a 30 minute drive but well worth it - give it a try!!! Well, other than I simply can not wait to return I think I've mentioned everything. Oh, please don't be shy to try to speak to the neighbours they are all so friendly and happy. Thank you for allowing us to stay in your truly wonderful Farmhouse - WE WILL BE BACK !!!!!

A wonderful holiday

Myself and the family spent 7 lovely nights in this gorgeous house. The house was fully equipped with everything you needed for a wonderful stay.
From games for the children to dvd's and books for the adults.
We stayed here from end of july to the beginning of august and would highly recommend this place for all the family.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children, People with Disabilities

We enjoyed a 4 night stay here in May.

This is a delightful house, beatifully updated and thoughtfully equipped. The level access ground floor bedroom with wet room was hugely helpful for us.

The situation is excellent - in a rural hamlet, but close to pretty Josselin for restaurants and within easy reach of much of interest.

Holiday at Les Moineaux France

My husband and I stayed at Les Moineaux and found it truly delightful. There was plenty of space for our family and all needs were more than catered for. THe area was very French which made it all the more interesting. Jocylin was amazing with many eating places..all the ones we visited were equally good.
We enjoyed a day out at Le Lac de Duc ,where my husband and I enjoyed the golf.
All in all an extremely successful holiday.

A BRETONS BREAK

As the first French family in the past 10 years to stay in this lovely Bretons refurbished "longère", we felt we were still in France !! We, well I, am so jealous you can remortgage your English properties to invest in another ... not possible in France ??... I might consider British citizenship !!!
Advice: deal with Shelagh (the owner)
The house care taker does a very good job to keep this big house tidy, clean and comfy !
