Beautiful house, wonderful view
Couldn't ask for a more perfect location! We were able to walk downtown and to the beach. The accommodations were top notch. We celebrated a couple birthdays and had a few guests over the weekend and everyone was comfortable with their surroundings. We were able to explore the marshes with the kayak and set crab traps off the dock and within a couple hours we were able to enjoy the fruits of our labors. We look forward to returning next year to continue the experience.

PERFECT WEEKEND
There wasn't one negative about our stay. The house had everything we needed. The rooms were spacious and very clean. The view was magnificent. Finding a house with a piano was an added bonus. I would recommend this home to anyone.

Excellent Location!
We celebrated a family vacation during the week of Memorial day. It was our first time in Stone Harbor, and we couldn't have been happier. The location was excellent and loved being on the bay side. The beach is nice too, but it was very windy, and the bay is generally calmer. Also the direct and easy access to the water was excellent. We fished, kayaked, and canoe'd frequently. The house was very clean, well maintained, and we had plenty of space for our group of 10. We are looking forward to it again!

Swimmer's Paradise
My family has been vacationing in Avalon and Stone Harbor for many years. We have always been beach people - packing up coolers, strollers and wagons and camping for the day at the beach; our youngest builds elaborate drip sand castles, while the two older kids and I hit the waves. We are all swimmers and like the area just beyond the break, but being this far out sometimes this gets us in trouble with the lifeguards. What we all really liked about this house was being able to swim and play in the bay every day right off our very own dock. In fact, I swam across the bay and back every morning for a quick work-out. The floating dock is really big – 8 of us plus a bunch of water toys can easily fit on it – and we did all fit on it most afternoons. We especially enjoyed using the canoe. Beyond the bay, there are many small creeks and waterways to explore by canoe. It would be nice if the owner could also provide a paddle board and kayak! Never hurts to ask, right? The house itself was clean and well-maintained. The VRBO pictures were pretty accurate. The one thing the photos didn’t show was that 4 of the 5 bedrooms have nice water views. The one bedroom without the view is a kid’s bedroom with 4 single beds. The kitchen had all the essentials, including lobster pots, a blender and a Keurig – yes, I like my coffee! There are plenty of TVs in the house, but we tried to stay off electronics. We spent all our meals around the large table on the back porch, enjoying the sunsets over the bay. This covered porch also features 2 great rocking chairs as you enjoy your morning coffee! As you can tell, the bay was the focal point of our vacation. This is a great house and the bayfront location can’t be beat – we’ll be back!

Slice of Heaven
Our family of 12 came from all over the East Coast to celebrate my father's 80th birthday. We were looking for something special for this occasion and this house was perfect! It's a very beautiful home on a gorgeous bay. The grand kids were very happy to have their own room, and all the adults had bay-front bedrooms. We thought we would spend a lot of time at the beach, but the bay kept calling us! It was also easier for my elderly parents to enjoy the calm bay water versus trying to manage the sand and the waves. And the grand kids were old enough to walk into town in the evenings on their own, so they were never bored! Now that we've experienced a slice of heaven, we can't imagine renting any other house in Stone Harbor. Thanks for making our celebration so memorable!

About the host

My wife and I owned a musical instrument business in Philadelphia, and we enjoyed Stone Harbor with our family every summer. Our children all learned to swim and sail and windsurf in the bay right in our back yard; all of them eventually taught sailing. In 2000, we tore down our old house and rebuilt this beautiful new vacation house from the ground up. We now live in Gwynedd, PA.

Why they chose this property

Our family history in Stone Harbor dates back to 1930, when my parents purchased a lot and built a house on Sunset Drive. Three generations of our family lived in the Sunset Drive house for 10 years. My wife and I then bought a house across the bay from my parents in 1970 for our own family of five. We enjoyed that house for 30 years, but then tore it down and rebuilt new to accommodate our children and grandchildren.

What makes this property unique

Swimming in the bay from our dock is an experience unmatched by any in Stone Harbor! The water is deep, buoyant and warm - especially in July, August and September. One benefit of bay swimming over ocean swimming is access to the facilities and to the kitchen. If you get bored of bay swimming, the 100th Street beach is a 3 block walk. We supply a 2 person canoe AND 2 person kayak and invite you to bring your own boat and tie-up at our slip.
