If Heaven exists

  • 5 of 5

Have never willingly chosen to return to the same holiday destination till we came to the Villarosedesvents. If possible would stamp our fortnight here every year for the rest of our lives.

Wonderful Home not just a House. It feels like you belong here. All the comforts you could ever need or desire. Heated Swimming pool to die for. Fantastic out door kitchen. Perfect location away from it all with no light pollution at night yet walking distance to a wonderful Village with true French atmosphere. A number of fine Restaurants to suit all tastes and fantastic markets twice weekly.

Nice touches such as Boules area and beautiful Fish pond with delightful bridge from which to feed the fish.

As keen Cyclists, the area is fantastic. Perfect roads, steady climbs and fantastic descents and typically beautiful villages to stop for a bite.

Villa is spotless. kitchen well stocked and a pleasure to cook in. Love the upstairs living area, especially the masses of DVD's and books.

If Heaven exists. Villarosedesvents must be it.

Owner's Response: Like several other guests, Lee & Jane are of course returning this year their booking confirmed before their 2008 holiday! We were glad to be able to help when it became impossible for Lee to bring his own guitar & bicycle; we were able to loan him an acoustic guitar & decided to provide bicycles for the use of our guests. We are so pleased that our efforts & attention to detail are appreciated and will endeavor to improve our services in the future, an example of this is free eggs from our chickens who live in the far corner of our field! Provencal life can not be better our welcome pack includes drinks, wine, tea, coffee, milk, bread olive oils & vinegars and much much more! Still a few weeks left this year. à bientot! Lucy & Steve

What a lovely villa with charming owners and staff

  • 5 of 5

We arrived at our appointed time of 1700 hrs and were received by a group of charming but obviously stressed group of people desperately trying to ready our villa for us.

We were not concerned the villa was so pretty from the outside we sat in the garden and were served a bottle of chilled champagne complete with olives and appetisers to nibble on whilst we watched the friendly pool man finish his task and the gardener who was raking the boule piste ready for the next game. The pond was a diversion itself its many fish of all shapes colours and sizes.

We were soon given a tour of our villa the plumber had just finished replacing a tap in one of the bathrooms. The owner explained that the previous guests had left the villa in such a state that it had taken all day to return the villa to its usual pristine state. Within a very short time of gaining access to our villa we felt completely at home.

We enjoyed our stay enormously and are planning to come back this year.

Owner's Response: It was a great pleasure to receive Anna and her friends at the villa especially since they were so understanding about having to keep them waiting due to the state the villa was left in by the previous guests. They really fully appreciated all the facilities of the villa and I look forward to welcoming them again this year.

Villa was nice, but be aware of the owner

  • 1 of 5

We are six adults (all 50+ of age) that rented this property for two weeks during summer of 2014. We loved the house from the start - it had a very special atmosphere. One of us is wheelchair user and as such, the house suited us well. The access to the ground floor was good, even if he was unable to access the convenience of using the facilities in first floor, which did not bother us much. After one week, we were supposed to leave the house for approximately 7 hours to let the owner do cleaning and other maintenance. Our friend in the wheelchair finds himself very uncomfortable in his wheelchair without having the opportunity to stretch himself. Therefor we sent a kind request to the owner if it was possible for him to stay behind in the villa whilst they did their work, even if the contract clearly stated that we had to leave the house. We were very surprised to receive his reply in a tone that was brisk and not very kind. If any of us where to stay, no cleaning despite changing of linen would be done... so of course we left the villa that Saturday.

During the last week of our stay, we did not have any contact with him until the day of our departure. Our party of six has hired various villas in Provence for the last 14 years, and we have had only good experience with the properties and the caretakers/owners so far. Unfortunately, this time we experienced not to get the deposit back. We received an email nearly three weeks later with a long list with claims of what was wrong. Funny is that the list added up to almost exactly the same amount as the deposit. We always take precaution when renting other peoples properties, so some of his accusations came as a big surprise to us and where rather insulting. Another strange thing, and for us, not so easy to accept, is the fact that we did not receive any response from the owner after the first week of our stay when they had the house in their possession for the whole day.

Owner's Response: We have been letting holiday homes through this site and others, for many years now and the resulting glowing reviews here and elsewhere testify to our success and exceptionally high standards. The facts of the matter are that these guests announced that they had no intention of vacating the villa for the day to enable cleaning and no mention of their colleagues discomfort was made. I asked my staff to do the minimum service in order not to inconvenience them too much. It transpired that at around midday they all went out anyway and stayed out until very late that evening. Following their departure at the end of their stay, we witnessed the state of the Villa. Photographs were later sent to the guests. A full list of damage is far too long to reproduce here, but the following gives a very good idea of the state of our villa at the end of their stay: Should a potential guest, or a fellow property owner wish to have the full details we would be happy to oblige. Please contact us through this site. All the bed linen and towels were irretrievably, stained by what appeared to be a self-tanning agent. It took twice the usual time to clean the pool. The stained water line of “auto-bronzing agent” is still in evidence. The tap of the hand washbasin in one of the bathrooms was missing a top, unable to find anywhere. The cupboards, drawers of the kitchen and the contents were left in such a state that all the glasses, crockery, cutlery and cooking pans and utensils had to be taken out and rewashed and the cupboards deep cleaned. The edge of the work surface in the kitchen was severely damaged. A hole was punched in the tiles of the kitchen floor in front of the dishwashing machine. The porcelain sink in the kitchen had two large chips knocked out of it. The marble tiling on the work surface was permanently stained. A tyre had been punctured on of one of the bicycles, and had continued to ride on it ruining the wheel rim and tyre as well as the inner tube. The expense of putting it all right exceeded the security deposit, this was explained to them and they made no offer to make up the difference. Many of these things meant an inconvenience for the guests who followed. When they arrived, they proved to be a charming and intelligent French/German couple who understood completely our shame at having to ask them to wait until the villa was ready. I have asked them to review their stay and have agreed to do so.

Wonderful villa!

  • 5 of 5

The spacious villa was a wonderful "home from home" equipped with everything you could possibly want.. It was spotlessly clean with lovely fresh flowers on the dining room table. Although Steve the owner lived nearby, privacy during your stay is respected .It proved to be an excellent base for many visits to the coast or the inland villages. However we also enjoyed relaxing round the pool and playing boules or table tennis. The pretty village of Fayence has everything you need on a self catering holiday - a market, boulangerie and supermarket .There are also a number of popular restaurants both here and in nearby villages. I would highly recommend it to others

Owner's Response: It is always a great pleasure for me to receive reviews of this nature, it is confirmation that my team of femmes de ménages and I are doing something, right and that our hard work is appreciated by our guests. It is also pleasing that people like our part of France so much that they come back year after year to visit us. Even a two week visit is not enough to thoroughly visit this beautiful part of "La Belle France" and we look forward to receiving these guests next year!

Superb villa, superb location... so relaxing

  • 5 of 5

Photographs on website - very accurate. Directions to villa - very accurate.. so a great start which just got better and better. The Villa is so well equipped we wanted for nothing more. The numerous outside seating area allowed everybody space and privacy. The library provided a wealth of reading materials so no kindle or books to carry.

The location of the villa is a great starting point for trips although we only wanted to leave for one full day and that was to Monaco/Monte Carlo and Cannes on the Train.. with Steve providing directions and free car parking points which made the day out easy and stress free. Short trips in the early evenings mean we visited Mons, Grasse and Sellian with easy.

Easy access to village and supermarket made eating in and out relaxing although the outside kitchen at the villa meant that we didn't want to leave and enjoy many evenings relaxing at the villa.

Wifi kept the teenagers happy, providing a natural way to avoid the very very hot mid day sun, then they were more than happy to return to the pool and table tennis area.

Steve was on hand via text to offer help and information but unseen at all other times.

The villa was clean and spacious, again allowing party times and also privacy moments.

Came home to work out when I could return with a group of friends, as the villa worked whether as a family group or friends party..

So my best recommendation can only be my desire to plan my return to Fayence and the villa within 24 hours of landing

Owner's Response: It is always such a pleasure to receive such a positive review, doubly so when ones guests had obviously such a good time! This is what it is all about; this is justification of our hard work and obsessive attention to detail. To be able to receive in ones home, people that appreciate and respect, the fact that they are in someone else's home and are able to enjoy it to the full and leave it in a similar state to which they found it. Also extremely gratifying is the fact that the local area is of great interest to our guests. The fact that the villa is a very useful base to visit the real Provence and also the glitz of the Cote d'Azur! We look forward to welcoming back the reviewer with her family and or friends in the very near future!

Superb!

  • 5 of 5

On our arrival at this property we were warmly welcomed by Steve and Ariadne, who proceeded to give us a tour of the villa, explaining how everything worked (so much better than written instructions). They were at great pains to encourage us to make ourselves completely at home and to enjoy the extensive range of food/drinks provided (including bread, and fresh eggs from their own hens). As our arrival coincided with a music festival and Fayence was 'jumping' we were concerned about finding somewhere to eat that evening. Steve immediately rang one of the restaurants in the village and managed to reserve a table for us. From then on Steve was available as and when needed for help or advice. For example one night we had an electrical storm, and waking next morning discovered there had been a power cut in the kitchen. Steve had anticipated this and even before we had the chance to call he was at the door ready to restore our electricity.

The house itself was pristine, amazingly equipped and very tastefully furnished. There's a vast and eclectic selection of books and DVDs. The pool is a perfect size with the bonus of heating. We particularly loved the upstairs sitting room (SO comfortable) and the outside loggia with colonial type seating. Unfortunately we didn't use these areas as much as we'd have liked as most of our time was spent by the pool or on the terrace, but can imagine wonderful Autumn evenings beside the log fire.

We'd holidayed in Fayence (different house) 9 years ago, but had forgotten how beautiful the surrounding area is. One of our favourite restaurants was La Gloire de Mon Pere in Seillans and the scenery on the road between there and Bargemon is just stunning ( almost on a par with my favourite area of France, the Aveyron). The restaurant itself is wonderful with super food and delightful staff. We ate there three times and even on just the second occasion were welcomed like old friends.

On the middle Saturday we were asked to vacate the villa for cleaning. Initially we felt a bit reluctant to do this, but in fact we spent the day in Nice (amazingly easy to park) and returned to find the house just as we had on our arrival the week before, with new linen, towels etc, which was just lovely.

Apart from 5 days when our son and his partner were able to join us we felt we had a 'boutique hotel' all to ourselves....wonderful!

Could say more but run out of space!

Thank you Steve and Ariadne.

Owner's Response: It is always a pleasure to receive people in one’s home, like Rosemary and Peter, who appreciate the lengths one goes to in order to ensure their stay is a special one. However resting on laurels is not what we are about at ‘Villa La Rose des Vents’ It is not enough to cite the help of Ariadne when Monique and Sylvie amongst other friends: Min, Pam, Nelly and Viviane giving an occasional hand; work extremely hard to help me present Villa La Rose des Vents in its best possible light. It is due to their hard work and attention to detail that I hope will persuade Rosemary & Peter to join many of our guests by returning next year!
