Why Michael O Donoghue chose Mallow

This cottage belonged to my family for at least 100 years. Three generations of my family have owned this cottage. My grandfather bought this cottage in the early 1900's and 3 generations of my family have farmed on the land here.

What makes this cottage unique

Location is the best feature. It is ideal for touring the South West of Ireland. Set in a country location, it is very peaceful.

Very lovely peaceful,and quiet surrounding

  • 5 out of 5
This property was by far the best place to get away from all the busy and Noisy towns.it was very clean and had all the amenities listed. Still close to different tourist attractions, or just hang out with the cows, goats, and the farm dog happy Harry.
The owner Michael was a great person to talk to, always willing to help out with anything or give directions to places.
We will never forget his kindness lending us his phone so the young lady traveling with us ( Katie from Canada ) could do her phone interview on the Ray Darcy show.
Michael, if you read this, thanks, you are sooo nice. We had a great trip, will defiantly recommend this place to our canadian friends. Even the neighbours were great !
Ireland is so beautiful.

Fantastic Cottage in Lovely Rural Setting

  • 5 out of 5
Stayed her for a week with my wife and 3 children (including newborn!) during the May half term break. We arrived at the cottage later than expected on our arrival date due to getting slightly lost off the ferry in Dublin and taking longer than expected to drive down to Mallow! Anyway we kept in touch with Michael the landlord during our journey who was absolutely fantastic and came to meet us near the property so we could follow him up without getting lost (I didn't have a sat nav).

On arrival it became apparent that something had gone wrong with my car (clutch!) and so our holiday plans were turned upside down somewhat! However we were relieved to find that the cottage was lovely and Michael showed us how to work all the heating etc. He even left a fresh pint of milk in the fridge so we could have a cup of tea on arrival - nice touch!

The cottage is very spacious and comfortable with nice furniture and clean bed linen. Towels were also provided although we had brought our own - again a nice touch by the landlord.

There is not a lot in the vicinity of the cottage except a small post office / shop which is about a 15 minute walk in to Dernagree. However we found it very peaceful in a lovely rural setting and is not far from Mallow or Millstreet if you want to do some shopping.

When we finally got the car fixed we went on a drive down to Kinsale which is a lovely quaint seaside type town with good shops and a new kids play area. En route we passed through Millstreet, Macroom and Bandon (which has a fantastic newly built skate park which we used!) and all were nice in their own right.

All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, Michael the landlord is fantastic (wish my landlord at home was as good as him!) and I would have no hesitation in recommending staying here to others.

This cottage was lovely. We were there 6 weeks and enjoyed it very much. It was exceptionally clean and quiet. Michael was a wonderful landlord. He was eager to please and very helpful. He was always available if we needed anything. The furniture was very cosy and comfortable which is unusual since most vacation rentals have just the cheapest furniture they can find. The location was in the country but not too far from numerous towns and villages. A wonderful spot for long walks and lots of wild flowers blooming everywhere made it so pretty. It is a good home base for exploring Kilarney, Cork, Blarney Castle, Ring of Kerry and Dingle Peninsula. We would love to return someday.

Accogliente cottage immerso nel verde

  • 5 out of 5

  • 5 out of 5
A conseiller."

logement très agréable et bien situé

  • 5 out of 5
