Photos and Description of this 5 bedroom holiday villa in Carcassonne City

5 km off Carcassonne, less than one hour from the Mediterranean sea and the Pyrénées mountains, a very large villa ( 10 adults, and even 11 with an extra bed) with all conveniences on a 6-acre domain (pine trees) with a 10x5m heated swimming-pool. 8 large rooms, terrace sheltered from wind with large teck table and chairs, large safe playground for children. No neighbourhood. Our caretakers ( they live in a separate house, at the entry of the property, 300m from the main house) will help you in case of any problem and give you informations for shopping or going for a drive, or make a reservation in some good restaurant , or anything else you need.

The property is situated in the country, 5km south of Carcassonne, where you'll find all shops and entertainments, the very beautiful golf (18 holes) of Auriac ( we can lend a kit for a man), and all sport activities ( tennis, riding, karting ...). You can discover the Canal du Midi (listed by UNESCO) either by boat or with bikes. One day driving will bring you to the nice beaches of Leucate or Barcarès, or to the "cathare" castles of Montségur and Peyrepertuse, or even to the museums and monuments of Toulouse.

Lastly, you'll find everything you need in a very large supermarket, 15mn by car from the property (food, gasoline ...)

  • Charges included
  • The price is all included, but 50 euros more every week for housework at your departure.
    A deposit of 300 euros is requested by our caretakers at your arrival, and given back the day of your departure unless some damage happened in the house.
    Sheets are supplied, but not towels (for bathroom or for the pool): we can supply bath towels if you agree to charge the cleaning (1 euro by week for each).
    The contract is sent in duplicate ( this contract is fixed by 'HomeAway' on the usual type); then you'll send back one of these two contracts with your signature and make deposit of 30 per cent. This deposit can be payed either by 'HomeAway's secure method', or by an international bank transfer . The balance can be paid in the same way or by cash next to our caretakers on the day of your arrival.
  • The accomodation is from saturday to saturday; the arrival is from 4pm, and the departure before 11am ( housework is made every saturday between 11am and 4pm)
    Renting just for a week-end or for three days during the week (same price than for a week-end) is possible during medium and high season.The price for one night is only for additional nights, before or after the week-end.
  • Non-contractual booking deposit: 30% rent
  • Damage deposit: €300.00

  • The two largest rooms have each a complete bathroom (bath, shower and toilets); each of the three other rooms has a smaller bathroom ( washbasin and bidet only), but they have in common a large shower and separate toilets in the corridor. There are two more toilets in the other part of the house (near living room and kitchen).

  • The house has 8 main rooms, on an area of 320m2: a very large living room, with a dining room next, facing the pool; an other living and dining room, smaller, opening onto a covered large terrace. There are 5 sleeping rooms: 2 of them have a 160cm bed (queen size); 2 other have twin beds (2x90cm), and the last one has a 140cm bed with the possibility of an extra bed (90cm). In all the rooms, the beds and the bedding are new or very recent.

Notes: The swimming pool ( 10x5m, depth 1,10 to 1,60m) was made in 2009. It is heated (28° if exterior temperature is at least 15°), and water is treated without chlore. Alarm system for children. Around the pool, a large terrace offers you a table with 8 chairs, 10 sunbeds and 4 sun umbrellas. There is also an electric socket if you want some light to stay near the pool or have a drink by night (the pool and the surroundings are lighted). An other terrace, isolated from the house, is under the pine trees ( table, deckchairs, electric socket ) and can be used for dining or just taking a nap or even reading, away from the pool. Under the pines, the children will find two swings. A table tennis is on the lawn near the pool. We can lend you 3 bikes ( 2 for adults, 1 for a child). Each of the two living rooms have a TV, and one ( in the large living) has also a DVD reader with some DVD (in case of a rainy day !) but there is no Wi-Fi connexion to internet.

A wonderful base for a relaxing holiday

We enjoyed a two week stay at this delightful property in September 2012. The owner could not have been more helpful in providing information to help us to select the property and the resident caretaker, Jackie, was equally helpful but unobtrusive during our stay.

We were an adult family group of 6 but with various visitors staying with us at different times during our holiday and we also hosted a birthday barbeque for 30 people in our middle weekend. The property is big enough to cope with all this with ease and we never felt crowded. There is a staggering amount of land around the house and it is possible to find solitude if you want it even when the house is full.

There is a pleasant and easy cycle route to the medieval cite, and we even walked to the old town on a couple of occasions. The airport is an easy 10 minutes drive and the autoroute and hypermarket even less.

This makes the property an ideal base to explore the area as the Black Mountains of the Minervois to the north, the Pyrenees to the south the Mediterranean are all within an hours drive, and there are many wonderful old villages closer to home.

For those prospective tenants worried about the autoroute being TOO close I can allay concerns for all but the most sensitive souls. There is a slight background rush audible from around the pool, but there are lines of trees which completely screen the road from view and a large bank of earth has been landscape to provide additional screening and sound deflection. At no time were we ever disturbed by the sound and certainly never noticed it at all at night from inside the house.

Although the kitchen is a little dated in appearance it has all the equipment that even the most enthusiastic cook (me!) could want and space to allow the team of amateur sous chefs to provide the necessary assistance. Dining areas outside and in abound giving options to suit all weathers and dining styles.

The grand salon is a lovely room with provision to open several doors out onto the terrace facing the pool.. The various bedrooms are comfortable and have private washing facilities. Only one has full ensuite bathroom but our guests did not find this a significant problem as the shared bathrooms are more than adequate.

We have stayed in many beautiful properties in France over the years but this one has to be the best.

Have just arrived back from a lovely week at this villa and it really was a pleasure to sit near the pool and walk the grounds. The villa was so spacious, loads of space for everyone, the pool was lovely although i needed a bit of help getting into it as the step was quite steep for a lady with two knee replacements, a guard rail would be a good idea. Lovely and clean which is very important to me.
If we ever go back i will pack a couple of dvd's as it's french tv and my french is not that good.Only a couple of mins drive from Carcassonne which is a must see place and the little shops were fab.
Thankyou to everyone involved that made our holiday so nice.Cheers.

A wonderful week

We spent a wonderful week at La Pinede in September with a group of friends who came from Seattle, Houston and San Francisco. The property and villa are beautiful and as pictured in the photos, and large enough to allow everyone to find a quiet corner. Indoor and outdoor dining areas easily accommodated our group of 10 and the kitchen was well-equippedTe house, pool and gardens are very well maintained. The caretaker and his wife are charming and always available to answer your questions. The villa is a short drive to Carcassonne, where you can visit the old city, shop and boat, bike or walk along the MidiCanal. Beautiful countryside and medieval castles are close enough for day trips, and the train in Carcassonne can take you further afield. I have rented other properties in Europe, and this was definitely one of the best. I highly recommend it.

A superb villa!

This is a wonderful property in a beautiful setting. The villa was extremely spacious with lovely furnishings and all the equipment required. The gardens were exceptional and the pool area, which was cleaned by the caretaker every day, was like 5 star luxury! We were welcomed by the caretaker who was also very helpful.
We would highly recommend this property and we would certainly like to return
