Lovely quiet hideaway - perfect way to get away from it all
We had a great time staying at ‘Hale Noa’ in Hana. Only a short walk from a great lava tube experience and several street side vendors only a short drive away for great local fruit and coffee in the mornings. The town of Hana actually has two well stocked general stores and a couple of good (but slightly pricier than usual) restaurants. Because of this we largely ate at home and it helped to make us feel like we were actually living in Hana rather than just visiting. The garden is enormous and although there weren’t many fruits available at the time, being able to grab and eat your own avocados and tangelicos from the garden is such a lovely idea. If I had to find any issue with the house it would only be that, being an older house it is in need of a little TLC, things inside like the furniture, television, appliances, although clean and functioning, are starting to get a bit tired and dated and outside, the screen doors are warped and do not prevent all of the geckos and mosquitos from finding their way in but some may consider this part of the rustic charm of the place. This is still only a minor gripe, and other things like the powerful air con and the extra comfortable beds more than make up for it. They also provide beachware and children’s toys which a family would really appreciate. One tip, bring ear plugs and have them on stand by as the Geckos can be loud at night. The mosquitos are especially viscious in this area so maybe pack a big bottle of deet too..!
