One-bedroom, one-bath upstairs cottage. Private and quiet - no one else occupies the property when guests are present. The living quarters are set on the back of the property, with a large fenced yard in front. There is a deck area on the upstairs level and a bricked BBQ/picnic area in the yard below.
We are located on a narrow arm of Alamitos Bay. The view of the bay is somewhat obscured by the foliage of a venerable avocado tree, as well as other trees on the property. (Hence our name.)
The interior has considerable character and charm. The color scheme blends quiet earth-tones with bright folk-art touches. There is a queen-size bed in the bedroom and a full-size sleeper sofa in living room. Electricity is provided by solar panels.
Mothers Beach, a quiet water swimming area and park, is about two blocks away. Belmont Shore restaurants, shops and night life are about 5 blocks distant. Another quiet water swimming and sunbathing area is also about 5 blocks away - on the way to the ocean beach at about 8 blocks. (Ocean waves are generally very small in Long Beach, due to a breakwater.)
Parking is on the street, with one uncovered space in the alley for a compact vehicle.
This was our second year staying at the charming Tree House. We were there for several weeks and decided we wanted to move in! We are very appreciative of the friendly property manager who makes all of the arrangements and the stay so enjoyable. He is responsive to any texts but truly there are never any problems. The location is perfect especially for walkers. We did not rent a car while there and our daily walks took us to Naples (a must see of homes on canals), bustling 2nd St. where restaurants and shops abound, the beaches, wonderful food stores, the Belmont Plaza gorgeous outdoor pool, and bus stops which travel downtown or to the harbor area. Long Beach is a city of diverse neighborhoods and activities. The sun shines almost every day and it was always a joy to return to the tree house which is secluded behind a private gate and sit on the outdoor deck to watch the boats in the marina. If you want luxury, this would not be for you- it's quaint and simplistic but has everything you need. If you value privacy, location and a view, this is the ideal haven.
My husband and I had so much fun at The Tree House. Everything was within walking distance, and it was a pleasure to be at the Tree House. We were totally content to stay the week without ever getting in the car. The garden is beautiful, and it's such a pleasure to be on the canal, and so close to the beach!! We want to go back! Heck, we didn't want to leave! Wonderful manager - attentive to every need. My favorite rental through VRBO ever!!!!
Beautiful private property. We were visiting family who live in Long Beach, this was a perfect rental for the month we were there. Walking distance to everything we needed. Short walk to 2nd street and all the restaurants and shopping. Located on the canal system of Naples where we took a wonderful boat ride on the canals. Short walk to the beach. Parking no problem at all. Short drive on PCH to many other beautiful Beach towns and LA. We recommend this property highly. Thanks to Bob the property manager for all your help and hospitality.
We stayed at the "Tree House" for a week and loved every moment of it. It is a serene oasis in a busy,
urban town. It was comfortable and homey....qualities we cherish. Thanks so much to the informative and friendly property manager. We would definitely stay there again.
I recently stayed at the Tree House for two full months. The location is great...even if you don't have a car you can get around Long Beach pretty easily on foot and with Long Beach Transit. Trader Joe's and Whole Foods are nearby, along with all the shops and restaurants in Belmont Shore, and the beach itself is only a 15 or 20 minute walk away. The private, gated front yard is very nice, and from your upstairs deck you have a sunny southern exposure and a partial view of the marina. Bob, the property manager, is very helpful if any problems arise, and is also very respectful of your privacy. Overall this is a very comfortable place to stay (assuming you have no problem going up the steps) and I think you will enjoy your stay here. BTW, if you are flying into the L.A. area, see if you can fly into Long Beach Airport (LGB) rather than LAX. It has been newly expanded and renovated and is very impressive (and only about 15 minutes' drive from the Treehouse). Enjoy your stay!
This was an absolute GEM! We know this would be great from the photos and info...we just did not realize *how* great. It's right on the harbor but secluded by fantastic greenery which is like a whimsical, magical garden. We were able to walk everywhere...all up and down the shopping and dining of 2nd street, out to the ocean and also over to our very romantic gondola ride. Yet available parking always plentiful. The place itself was adorable, charming, and clean. FIRM mattress, great water pressure. Bob was amazingly responsive and helpful. We felt like we stumbled onto the find of the century. LOVED it!
