There are two ways to reach ANATOLI from Heraklion. Follow signs towards AGIOS NICOLAOS where signs point towards IERAPETRA.
ROUTE I- (Heraklion – Anatoli via Kalo Chorio/Prina/Kalamafka)
Twelve km after from Agios Nikolaos you enter the village Kalo Chorio (ancient Istron). Take a right turn at the sign pointing towards Prina/Kalamafka/Males (villages before and after Anatoli). This is a country road, very picturesque, with slight turns.
At Kalamafka there is a junction with right turn towards Anatoli. At about 6 km you arrive at Anatoli. At the second crossroad to your left you will see the sign of Dorovinis Houses pointing towards SMARAGDA HOUSE. Park your car on widening of the main road and follow the walkway. At 50m you reach the junction with the old market street. You turn right and at 15m you are at SMARAGDA HOUSE on your left and the renovated “AMALTHEIA COFFEE HOUSE ” on your right.
Route II - (Heraklion-Anatoli via Ierapetra)
After passing the village of Pahia Ammos turn right towards IERAPETRA. After 12 km you reach a cross junction of the ring road of Ierapetra.You turn right towards Vianos-Myrtos-Gra Lygia.You continue straight for 4,5 Km you will meet on your left the supermarket ARIADNE and a little further a slightly diagonal road to your right, marked by a pharmacy shop. You take this right turn After 12 klm you see Anatoli hanging in a slop. You continue this road circling around the village till you see the sign towards SMARAGDA HOUSE. Follow the directions as for Route I.
The location is ideal for all season¢s vacation, being at close proximity to cultural and enviromental monuments, and to the most beautiful southeastern sandy-blue flag- beaches of Crete. At 12 km the city of Ierapetra offers all facilities and activities of a big city (shops, supermarkets, banks, doctors, water front esplanade with restaurants and cafes, Archaeological Collection, organized beach etc).
Daily cultural excursions to archaeological sites, Byzantine and Venetian monuments, as well as to Natural Monuments can be combined with swimming to picturesque gulfs.
PLACES TO SWIM: Voulisma Beach (Istron Bay), Galini, Agia Fotia, Kakkos and Achlia Bays east and Myrtos village west of Ierapetra. Picturesque taverns are behind every beach.
PLACES TO EAST: “Manolis” tavern inside the village and many more in Kalamafka, Malles and Agia Paraskevi (neighbor villages).
