About this property

Playa Azul is a piece of heaven located on an expansive, yet quiet stretch of fantastic beach, just 3.5 km. south of the eclectic surfer town of Canoa. The unit is on the second floor facing the ocean and Canoa, with a large tiled balcony and 2 double glass patio doors - one from the living area, and one from the master, providing spectacular views and sunsets. Each bedroom has it's own full bathroom w. shower. The gated, secure community also has a large, well maintained swimming pool, shared garden, and palm covered common palapa sitting area with a charcoal BBQ. Enjoy a beautiful array of orange sunsets every night. Try surfing, or body boarding right out front, Kayak tours, or parasail rides at Canoa. Seafood and fresh produce is plentiful at local markets for very reasonable prices! Take a short trip to Isla de la Corozon in the estuary, or a days journey to Isla de la Plata (the poor man's Galapagos), or up to the rain forest and Mindo bird sanctuary. Temperature averages range from 26C in the Summer to 29C in the winter. Local buses will pass out front every 20 minutes.

RENTER RULES AT PLAYA AZUL. 1. Simply be considerate of others residing in Playa Azul. 2. Maximum occupancy of a unit for rental is FOUR persons including any invited guests; therefore, if four persons are renting a unit then no guests are allowed. 3. No children under the age of 13 are allowed in a rental unit. 4. No pets are allowed. 5. The front and beach gates are to be locked at all times—unless using the beach directly in front of Playa Azul. 6. Follow the rules as listed in Pool And Gazebo Area Rules. 7. Please dispose of garbage to the elevated platform outside the road gate. Garbage must be bagged and tied off. 8. Quiet time is from 10:00 pm to 7:00 am. 9. Towels and bathing suits shall not be hung on balcony rails. 10. Re-cycling of glass, plastic, and aluminum is encouraged. Containers are provided near the main road gate. 11. Smoking is limited to the eastern part of the parking lot. 12. Any damage done to the common area property by a renter must be paid for prior to departure. Beautiful location, great condo

Thank you John, we had a great time in your condo. Deb and Carol were so helpful and all the other's there, were so friendly. It's like a private little community with wonderful people who made us feel very welcome. Terrific beach, great pool, spectacular sunsets quaint Canoa and fun trips to Bahia and San Vincente. We would definitely stay here again. Glad the building sealing and painting is getting done it was a bit noisy and dusty but it will be beautiful once completed.

Great ocean front property.

Enjoyed our stay at Playa Azul. The condo is wonderful and has a great view. Security is awesome. The other residents were welcoming and informative. Each unit has its own wifi although it would be nice to have it in the pool area. The pool is fabulous and well cared for by Pete. Loved the get togethers each afternoon under the palapa. A very quiet and relaxing place. Still a lot of recovery going on in Canoa, San Vicente and Bahia after the 2016 earthquake so there are a limited number of restaurants open. The grocery store in Bahia has everything you need. The kitchen in the condo is fully stocked with all the dishes and pots and pans required. Loved trivia night at the Surf Shack in Canoa and got to know a few of the expats at the Condo down the beach. The beach is 17+ kms long and a great walk at low tide. Lots of treasures to be found. We travelled around Ecuador a bit and it was great to come back to Azul. A great place.

Take a break

Perfect place to unpack after wks. in the Andes. Many thanks to condo manager Debbie who went beyond the usual reception and helped us get stocked, provided transportation and made introductions. Canoa is a beach walk away and there is a bus stop right out front, perfect. Sunsets and waves from the balcony, long strolls on the beach, late afternoon drinks around the pool, a more relaxed way to sample Ecuador. Thanks for the good times .

Perfect on everything

Only the good comments about Jon and his condo, Manon and Denis (managers) were frendly and helpfull. The photos represent the reality..... Amazing vacation . I recommend this condo.

Great Ocean View, Weather, Clean& Comfortable

You are guaranteed every day a great second story ocean-view with the sound of waves gently rolling outside. At night, for sleep, you can leave your balcony doors open, as the temperature is perfect day and night, and there are no mosquitoes here. (Neighbors from N.America said this is normal, but changes if it rains for several days in a row.) The waves are a perfect distance away -- about 100 feet away -- allowing a gentle slumber each night. The kitchen was complete, and there was a nice-sized dining table. We had the blender we needed, and an Arrowhead-type water jug system with purified water. We felt safe as the 2 three story buildings (6 units each) are gated and so is access to the unit. We enjoyed privacy as no neighbors were heard above or beside us even though some were around. The unit has 2 bedrooms enough to sleep 4. I used the couch alot to sleep...it was a flat leather couch perfect for sleep. I did a lot of time lapse videos off the balcony which you can find on YouTube if you search Ecuador, Timelapse. Every sunset was different and the highlight of our daily relaxations. The beach out front goes for miles in each direction. A couple of times, we walked the beach north to Canoa for a 2 mile midday walk, and found excellent vegan dishes at Amalur hotel. (We made friendships there too, including with the owner Diego and his wife.) We drove 15 mins south to Bahia to go to Hipermas - a Walmart-quality supermarket and superstore -- where we purchased fruits and vegetables, and did some quality shopping. All great. Activities? Umm... That was not our aim. We relaxed most of the time, but there is an eco-adventure nearby - at Hermanos just outside Canoa - that we would do had learned about sooner. You can get organic fruits and veggies there. The internet is wireless and worked fine. Also, the owner's on site managers who live in a nearby unit, Denis & Manon, were great, and very helpful / informative. Denis drove us to Bahia the first time, letting us know how to do shopping there, which helped. We did not use the pool, but it is certainly big enough to lap swim. We only saw a couple of times in 10 days that others used it, so it is available almost 99% of the time for others. The owner, Jon, also was very good to us, and helpful in his emails and binder-materials provided in the unit on activities you can do in the area. We also liked the N. American neighbors who own the other units.
