The perfect escapism...
'Le Domaine du Pelican' is a true gem and a little oasis of timeless magic. I was fortunate enough to spend a week at this special place, last September, to celebrate my friends' wedding and there couldn't have been a more perfect hideout. A green avenue leads you away from the street into the perfect silence that surrounds the walls of this beautiful old mill. Past the wild creek and the Petanque pitch - for evenings in the most South of France fashion- a staircase leads you onto the generous terrace with a view over the pond to let your thoughts linger whilst enjoying your first coffee of the day or an evening dinner with good company. The interior has been picked most carefully and with great taste and represents in detail the charms of the building itself. The pool behind the house is a welcome refreshment after a day in the sun and the conservatory that adjoins to the terrace accommodates every need for ping pong games or just some time in the shade... The surrounding area offers a great variety of historical sites and small walks and hikes through the Provence landscape. And with Nimes only about 30mins drive away you'll have one of the most historically diverse cities in the South of France to explore. This place will truly rejuvenate your spirits. Marie and Bruno are wonderful and welcoming hosts with an open mind and a great sense of discreetness. I would be back any day if it wasn't so hard to leave... Mika (from London)
