Home away from home

Caulaincourt Classique not only met my expections, it exceeded them--except for the bed. It was definitely king size in width, but seemed very short in length. Perhaps it was all the wonderful pillows that took up the extra space.
Everything was great, especially having a washer AND dryer in the apartment, since we were there for 2 weeks. If you don't speak French, like my husband and me, you'll be very thankful for the instructions in English that are found in the very thorough booklet for the apartment.
Rue Caulaincourt, the street, has endeared itself to both of us. The butcher, the Boulangerie (bread store), the fresh fruit and veggies, the Patissierie (bakery), the Chocolatier--all of them were a few steps from the apartment, and the Metro station was about 1-1/2 blocks away.
We found great shopping on the street, and for a really great view of many neighborhoods of Paris, ride the #80 bus that stops right outstide the apartment building. The street guide in the apartment was very helpful when trying to find connecting bus routes, metro routes and train routes.
There were plenty of restaurants within 2 blocks, but the one we found to be our favorite was across the street from the apartment, at approximately 64 Caulaincourt. They had the best hamburger and fries, great music, and wonderful drinks. In fact, I haven't had a burger that good in the States since I was a child.
Since I love to cook, and took a cooking class at "Cook'n With Class" which is a 15 minute walk from the apartment, I found the apartment extremely condusive to preparing lovely meals. This came in handy since our son is now living in Paris, and we were able to entertain he and his friends in comfort, and were able to share wonderful meals as well.
This apartment truly felt like a home away from home. To throw open the lovely French windows and view the greenery on the street, and watch all the activity of the neighborhood was invigorating.
If we can make it back to Paris, this will be our home away from home once again.

Owner's Response: They are absolutely right that the bed at the time of their stay was 5 inches smaller than the American king size. We have since changed the beds however and have two twins 90x200 cm that fit together to make a king size of 180x200 cm.
All in all very happy to hear that their stay was enjoyable. This apartment is a particular favorite of anyone who likes to cook.
