Cute and Cozy Cottage on the Lake

  • 5 out of 5
The owners are on site and are very nice professional people. My stay was a particularly stressful one as I was meeting my ex-wife and 5 year old son after being apart for nearly 4 years. The owners were very accommodating and made certain that our stay was comfortable in every stretch of the imagination from providing toys and games for us to do as a family to introducing my son to their grandchildren.

Perfect Lake Ontario Getaway

  • 5 out of 5
Dawn and Paul's cottage has been one of our favorite VRBO experiences. The place is freshly and imaginatively decorated, spotless, thoughtfully stocked for the weary traveler, and a very short walk to the lakeshore. With the tidy back porch and patio, plus the huge yard with lake access, there were plenty of spots to just "kick back" and relax. We truly appreciated Dawn's flexibility with our arrival and departure. Plus the quiet setting made for a special retreat.

As this was a trip "back home" to my roots, it was a perfect place to welcome friends and family for lunches, dinners, coffee, and chats down by the lake. If we had more time, it would have been nice to take up Dawn on her offer of a bonfire by the lake. Maybe next time!

I would recommend the cottage to anyone. While it is close to the usual Niagara Falls attractions, and fishing on Lake Ontario, we will return simply for the beauty and peace of the place itself. It embodies the many reasons I love to refer to this spot in Western New York as "home". It's tranquil, green with shade, tucked away down a grassy drive. The shore waits, poised for the drama of the changing lake: sunsets, mists, rolling fog, shining blue in the glint of sun, churning iron waves in a storm. No dull moments.

I can't wait to go back!

Owner's Response: Hi, Cheryl - Thank you so much for the lovely review! We are so glad you and your family enjoyed yourselves and were comfortable in the cottage. We agree, there's no place like home! That's why we chose to retire here on the shores of Lake Ontario, within 30 minutes of most of our extended family. When we told people we planned Western New York as our retirement location, many thought we were crazy! They thought only of "lake-effect blizzards." But we agree with you that Western New York has so much more to offer - exceptional year-round theater and live music, easily accessible farm fresh foods, a lively and tasty restaurant scene, summer waterfront activities, and gorgeous scenery, to name just a few. Of course, for us, like you, family was the real draw.

We hope to see you next year!

GREAT STAY...Will be back again

  • 5 out of 5
This a a cute little cottage and is perfect for a family. There is just about everything you need in a little home away from home. The hospitatlity is among the best. The view is great and the location is nice and quiet. I stayed with four kids for 3 nights on our way to Syracuse. The kids ages 12-16 loved it. The beds were comfortable and we slept amazing. There is an air conditioner in the living room and fans if needed. We spent one day in Niagara Falls and it was about 35-40min drive away. The hosts were great at giving you ideas on where to go for eating out and even for things for the kids to do. There are a few board games in the main bedroom for the kids to play. TV and Wi-Fi worked great. For a place to swim....Fort Niagara is down the road about 15 min and there is a great pool with 2 waterslides. The price for kids 12 and under is $1.50 and only $3 for adults and older kids. Fort Niagara is a must see. We also went Jet Boating and had a blast. If you go east down the road there is a cute little beach town with nice shops....reasonably priced too. I cant say enough good things about this little place. It was so nice to be able to travel to the city for the falls and then come "home" to a nice quiet place with a great view. Its close enough yet far enough away. I want to bring my family back in the future.

Owner's Response: Hi, Bonnie! Thanks for the stellar review! We're so glad you and the kids enjoyed your time in Western NY and at our cottage. We love it when our guests think of it as "home" for a few days! Niagara Falls is no doubt the premier attraction here, but there's so much more to do and see in the area; we're happy you so thoroughly enjoyed a few of the attractions. We're looking forward to having your family stay with us, and sample some of the world-class fishing we have to offer!

A perfect spot

  • 5 out of 5
Comfortable location nestled along Lake Ontario between Wilson and New York was perfect for our stay. Very clean, with all the amenities that you would need on a short stay in the region.

Why rent a motel room? We did last year and after finding this, have plans to be back next summer. Close to many great wineries, short drive to Niagara Falls and in the middle of some of the best fishing Lake Ontario has to offer.

Owners were genuinely gracious people who we thank for making our stay one of the best ever.

Owner's Response: Thanks for the great review, Joe and family! We're glad you enjoyed your stay with us - and the fishing! No question, Lake Ontario and the Niagara River are home to some BIG fish! We're also happy you had a chance to visit some of the many fine wineries in our area.

It's great to hear that you found our cottage to be a better choice than a motel/hotel. We agree -we always rent vacation homes with our family; not only do we find them a better value, but it's so much nicer to hang out with everyone in the kitchen instead of scattering to separate hotel rooms at the end of the day. And isn't that really why we go on vacation?

We look forward to seeing you again next year!

It was a beautiful and comfortable place to stay . I will recommend anyone to stay at this beautiful cottage. Sorry we were not there most of the time, we had the bowling competition going on for four days out of the 7 days we stayed there. Just met you and your husband once, you guys were so nice. Hope to stay again next year. Thank you again.
P.s.the couches in the living room were very comfortable , which we slept most of the time.

WONDERFUL VACATION HOME NEAR NIAGARA FALLS

  • 5 out of 5
Couldn't be any better. Great location, Great home, Great view, Great host with lots of advise that made our trip fantastic. Owner was very kind and nice. They are living in the house right behind this cottage. This was the fist time to rent a vacation house and pretty much every thing was very good for the price. It was well maintained and clean as described. I would recommend the house to anyone who wants to get the family together and enjoy some beautiful scenery.
