Overview

Overview

Photos and Description of this 4 bedroom holiday villa in Fayence - Les Cerises

3 available Bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, sleeps 6.

A detached Provencal villa of 130sq m, set in a garden of 800sq m with views of the surrounding rugged hills and the valley below. Les Cerises is 10 minutes' walk from the centre of Fayence, along a pretty lane of detached villas. It looks and feels like open country round about but there are a surprising number of houses tucked away and hidden by large gardens and hedges. Large gates open onto the front of the house with parking for up to 3 cars and the front door opens onto a spacious atrium style 'sejour' or living room, off which is the master bedroom and ensuite bathroom and the kitchen, pantry and 'cave'. French windows lead out to the terrace, the deck and the pool, all of which are surrounded by olive trees and other native flora in the garden. Upstairs there are 2 available bedrooms, a shower room and separate toilet. In the 'cave' by the front door, there is garden furniture, 4 bikes and garden games. All in all, the house has everything one might need.

Fayence: With a population of around 4500, Fayence is big enough to have quite a few decent shops, restaurants and bars but manages to avoid the rather more frantic happenings down on the coast. It's more relaxed, friendlier and more authentically French. There's a Provencal market 3 days a week, local vineyards offering visits and tastings, regular concerts in the new exhibition hall or in the open air, and lots of nearby galleries, potteries and antique shops. In the valley below, the gliding centre is supposed to be the best in Europe and a good place for a drink or a meal. Even a trial flight. For the golfers the new Terre Blanche course across the valley aims to be one of the best in France and there are other courses nearby at Mandelieu and Cannes. Horse riding is available locally and there are tennis courts at the bottom of the hill for the really energetic. To find out more about the town, please ask us for web site link.

We found the villa charming with attention to detail and all that you would want from a holiday home. Sometimes locations are not what they seem and much further from restaurants etc.. Not in this case. It was an easy walk into the village where there were numerous places to eat. The market was an added bonus and we all had a great time.

Les cerises

  • 5 out of 5
This was our first visit to the Cote D'Azur, and the villa and surrounding area didn't disappoint.
The Villa was clean, comfortable and had a wealth of extras we haven't found in other self catered premises. The pool is a welcome addition and relaxing after a busy day, especially after a walk in the beautiful surroundings.
The bigger supermarkets are near enough if you have a car, though there is a small local supermarket and of course, and Boulangeries for the morning croissants within walking distance in Fayance.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this villa to others,

Loved It!

  • 5 out of 5
Had the pleasure of spending an entire month in this lovely villa. Hated to leave. This very charming villa is quite comfortable and we spent several days just relaxing at "home". The owners have outfitted the property with every conceivable amenity and were very helpful with numerous recommendations. The location is ideal and lends itself to pleasant strolls or serious hikes. The Fayence town center features a dozen or more small bistro style restaurants as well as a decent open air market. The views are lovely and the valley below provides additional dining and activity options. Our day trips included visits to Menton, Monaco, Nice, Cannes, Sanary sur Mer, Aix, and Les Baux. We are seriously considering a return visit. You will not be disappointed!

Owner's Response: It's the first time we've had a month let at Les Cerises and it's good to know that its charms, and the charms of Fayence, don't fade over time. Obviously we offered a deal on the rate, especially as it wasn't peak period.

Very comfortable house

  • 5 out of 5
We spent a couple of great weeks in August here. The house was very comfortable and well equipped – everything we needed was there plus lots of other thoughtful touches.

The area was new to us and we spent many days out exploring the coast and countryside - the pool at the house was very welcoming after these excursions.

Paul and Jill were very helpful throughout and everything went very smoothly. We have no hesitation in recommending Les Cerises to our friends.

Owner's Response: It's a real joy to us when nice people so enjoy their holiday at our house in Fayence. We've not had a hint of a negative review yet (69 out of a possible 70 stars in the ratings total) and long may it stay that way.
Reviews present those looking to rent a villa with an unbiased opinion and help them to avoid possible disappointment. After all, no villa in the South of France is going to be cheap, and you need to get it right to get value.

Superb Villa - Exceptional Accommodation

  • 5 out of 5
Our first holiday in many years and could not have made a better choice or wished for better accommodation. The villa was equipped with everything that you would ever need and extremely clean as was the fantastic pool, it was also very private. The villa is only a 10 minute walk from the picturesque little town of Fayance where there was a great choice of restaurants at reasonable prices. A market is held two days a week(Tuesday and Thursday) where you can buy great fresh food. There are also supermarkets which is a short drive away (7/8 minutes). If you are looking for a nice relaxing holiday this is the place for you. Communication from the owners was outstanding, very friendly and helpful. We would highly recommend the villa Les Cerises.

A fantastic place to stay

  • 5 out of 5
Thank you Paul and Jill for making our holiday so enjoyable this year. The villa is beautiful and well equipped - very comfortable and a home from home. It is ideally situated within 10 minutes walk of the main town - plenty of local shops, restaurants and the market twice a week is a real must. It was great to return to the villa at the end of the day to relax and cool down in the very private, well proportioned pool which was also family friendly - around 4 to 5 foot deep so ideal for less confident or non-swimmers.

Really appreciated the welcoming touches such as a nice bottle of wine waiting for us in the fridge on arrival. The villa is situated in a beautiful location surrounded by picturesque countryside and near to the lovely medieval town of Fayence, which has very friendly locals, most of which are patient with those of us with faltering French, but you do have to make the effort - we found the locals will appreciate you trying.

Overall, I would really recommend this villa to anyone. There is lots to do in this part of France - the gliding centre nearby looked like a lot of fun and I wish I had given it a go - maybe next time! Fayence is also handy to the main resorts along the south coast and I would also recommend the nearby town of Grasse as being worth a visit.

Thanks again Paul and Jill - we would love to come back some day.

Car: recommended

The famous 'perched' village of Fayence is an appealing place. It's one of the larger hill villages behind the Cote d' Azur, other hill villages close by are Montauroux, Callian and Seillans. It's about a half hour from Cannes, the same from St. Tropez and Frejus, and 45 minutes from Nice airport, so it's very close to the fashionable Riviera, yet it edges into beautiful Provence. It is an ideal central base from which to explore the glorious coastline or go inland to Grasse, St Paul de Vence or the spectacular Gorges du Verdon. Half an hour away is at Mandelieu - a very attractive place indeed with its Chateau and port. Between there and Fayence in the middle of the Massif de l'Esterel is the stunning Lac de St Cassien, a popular alternative to the Med - swimming, sailing, fishing and pedalos. The ski slopes of the Alpes Maritime are only one and a half hours away, closest being Valberg, a really pretty and authentic Alpine village with good pistes and skiing for all abilities.

Other Activities: Skiing in lovely Valberg - 1h 30 min drive with all the facilities of the Cote d'Azur within 25 mins' drive

Golf: We're not golfers but La Terre Blanche a few kilometers away is supposed to be one of the best courses in Europe. There are several other courses particularly nearer the coast.

Ski: Ski-ing is about an hour and a half away at Valberg, in the Alpes Maritime. It's a beautiful and authentic village, easy to get to and not too busy.
