About Sherry Chilton
Homeowners on new work assignment. We deeply love our mountain retreat, and hope to return in a few years. In the interim, we want to share with others the amazingly beautiful vistas and peaceful energies in this 'Natural State' of Arkansas.
Sherry Chilton purchased this house in 2009
Why Sherry Chilton chose Arkansas
After owning homes in Maryland, including one with a gorgeous sunrise over the Chesapeake Bay, we pinched ourselves more than once saying, 'Arkansas? Really? Arkansas?' Aging parents diagnosed with chronic illnesses brought us here. Golf didn't hurt. This particular home sealed the deal. We found it in a state of disrepair, and the lot itself was impenetrable. But it is one of a kind contemporary home in the far more traditional Village. The couple who commissioned the home utilized a local architect, protege of Frank Lloyd Wright and Euine Fay Jones. The owners passed away and we were fortunate to purchase the property from their son. The original plans, as well as photographs of the construction of what was once 'The Crows Nest' are onsite. The property was recommissioned 'The Left Wing' after the highly pronounced feature of the east deck, and indeed the emulation of a bird in flight atop the mountain. From the ancient oak growing out of rock, to the rose quartz veins in the driveway boulders, we found this place to be a sacred and profoundly relaxing home. Over time our passion for water and watching boats was equalled by our love of clouds, stars and weather patterns. We hope guests are able to rejuvenate and reconnect here as we have.
Like so many others in the Hot Springs and Lake Ouachita area, we discovered only after moving here, the magic that exists both inside and outside of the gated community of Hot Springs Village. Please come. Enjoy your favorite pastimes, and if you truly enjoy nature and wildlife, you will return again and again. The Ouachitas and this area of the state through Mt. Ida and up to Mt. Magazine are really quite extraordinary. Who knew?
What makes this house unique
It is simply the best view in the Village. The architecture of the home, east-west passive solar, glassed walls and vistas from almost all rooms create a nearly 180 degree view of Pinnacle Mountain in the distance northwest of Little Rock to Ouachita National Forest west of Hot Springs.
There is no better place to view a dozen fireworks displays from the comfort of one's own decks.
