Water and Land based Activities : For the holiday of a life time, the Bay of Islands offers a kaleidoscope of experiences for visitors.
Take a trip on one of the boat cruises and view the many islands that make up our beautiful area and gave it its name.
Spend a day big game fishing, go scuba diving, or snorkel with the fishes. Maybe even swim with the dolphins, or just laze on one of the beautiful beaches with the occasional swim to cool off.
For the energetic, there is also sailing and wind surfing, or sea kayaking and parasailing.
Land based activities such as golfing, tramping, and orienteering are all available.
Jump from a plane, go horse riding, or maybe even possum shooting in the evening.
There are many enjoyable scenic walks in the area and Puketi Forest (near Kerikeri) offers a short walk to view the giant kauri trees.
Just 20 minutes north of Paihia discover the citrus growing area of Kerikeri with its many local specialty craft and food outlets. Enjoy wine tasting at one of the local vineyards.
History: The Bay of Islands is also a rich source of historical landmarks and is known as the 'Birthplace of our Nation'
The Waitangi Treaty House and Grounds, next door to bustling Paihia, is a monument to the importance of our country’s Treaty.
The Russell Museum and Pompallier House, also the Stone Store and Kemp House at Kerikeri, bring to life the time of the early European settlers – excellent places for visitors to better understand what makes us Kiwi's tick.

Guestbook comments from the owner
We came to the Bay of Islands with ambition to see and explore the north land. However, we found Crows Nest to be so beautiful we just sat around, read and enjoyed the magnificent views.
Sitting above the Opua inlet, Crows Nest pampered beyond belief. We will be coming back year after year.
-Ended up cancelling many of our activities. Crows Nest was too enjoyable to leave.
