Welcome to Cook Hale, your tranquil escape to Ha'ena on the north shore of Kauai. Ha'ena is home to some of the best beaches and most beautiful scenery in the world. Cook Hale is conveniently located near tunnels and across the street from a footpath that leads 200 meters to a beautiful sandy beach. Come back from the beach and relax on the huge lanai facing the preserve while listening to the birds singing!

Tunnels beach is 1/2 mile away. Tunnels is known to have world class snorkeling when it's calm, and world class surfing when it's not! Mediterranean Gourmet is even closer with great food and entertainment. The Napali coast is less than two miles away with incredible hiking and waterfalls. Several dining, shopping, and entertainment options are also available in historic Hanalei, just about 6 miles away.

an ideal quiet retreat located close to the best beaches and trails on the north shore of kauai

my wife and I stayed at Hale Cook for 4 nights in early August of 2014. The place is great. it has a ski house-like architecture with high peaked ceilings and wood paneled walls. not luxury but well-designed and homey. very open layout: kitchen, dining area, living room and huge deck - all in the same area, which is ideal. it is nice to have your own free standing house with a yard instead of a condo with neighbors coming and going and making noise.
we were looking for a quiet, peaceful retreat on the north shore and that is what Hale Cook is. located in the middle of haena, feels very far from the manicured country club that is princeville and is far less busy than hanalei. all of the one lane bridges between haena and hanalei do a good job of making haena have an off-the-beaten-track and local feel. we really enjoyed being only a short stroll (maybe 3 min but we stopped to eat guava along the way so might be 2 min) to the beach and being able to ride the bikes a few minutes (4 bikes at the house use) to tunnels beach (best snorkeling on Kauai) and the start of the kalaulau trail.

my wife and I particularly enjoyed sitting on the large deck facing the preserve and watching the breeze rustle through the trees and the giant palm tree and just relaxing. i just wish the apple bananas on apple banana tree on the property happened to be ripe during our visit - but we got plenty at the local farmers markets in haena and hanalei.

Less than half a mile from Tunnel's in one direction or Mediterranean Gourmet in the other direction. Conveniently located near Hanalei bay with many shopping and dining options, including farmers market, shaved ice etc.
