About Mr. Gene & Jean Ohlmann.
I grew up in Louisville, went to St.Denis,Valley,High School,University of Louisville for a short time after I got out of the United States Marine Corp. Bought a lot on Rough River in 1990,lived in camper and small cabin for a couple of years till I met Jean Marie. Jean loved the lake and after we married , we talked of moving to the lake. When JEAN retired a little while later we made the final decision and in 1999 we moved to the lake.
Mr. Gene & Jean Ohlmann. purchased this house in 1990
Why Mr. Gene & Jean Ohlmann. chose Kentucky
God Led Us To This Lake Front Property. It Was A Challenge To Turn It Into A Building Site And Home Sweet Home. The Property Is Also Close To Centerview Community Church, 2 Miles From Our Home.
What makes this house unique
Jean and I were married on this property in 1996 on the gazebo I built over looking the lake. I bought this lot our home sits on in 1990 as a place to get away. I met Jean in 1992 at age 57 and we took a drive to the country.Jean loves the country as much as I and I have always had a dream of sharing our property with others. It has been a long time in coming, but GOD is always faithful and for 20 years I have wanted to build a cabin or small house to share with others. In about 2004 Jean and I were blessed to buy the lot next to ours and my dreams and blessings began to take shape. The lot next to our house had a burned out cabin on it and the yard was a boulder field, I mean the size of a refrigerator and up along with an old septic system and too many trees to talk about. After some two and one half years of working with the corp of Engineers my first plan took shape, Cut a road to the lake, but how, three or four people and a couple road people told me it could not be done. Well GOD had a plan and I had a couple of wonderful friends, Larry Mattingly and August Henning who I am so blessed to know. With Larry doing the brain work and August and his son doing the digging, out came the trees, up came the huge rocks and as I watched with tears in my eyes in two days I had a road to the lake. NOW THE REST OF THE STORY! In 2013 I was able to start my dream of 20 years, a guest house to rent and share with our friends. Since Jean and I were married on this property, Jean thought their may be others who may do the same, so my final thought is on SPECIAL OCCASIONS WEDDINGS,ANNIVERSARY,BIRTHDAY,FAMILY REUNION,etc. If you think our home may fit into your plans we would be honored to talk with you about rates for ground rental.
